As long as we have these great videos, Johnny will never be really gone from our hearts and mind. I was 13 years old and working as a bue boy in Barkers Restrurant in Phenix City, Ala when I first heard Johnny Cash on record and I'm still listening to him today. He just never get old. Johnny I will miss you until the coming of the Lord. I know you will be sing in the great choir in Heaven.

@helen11937 I think he was saying "wish the Lord I was Stoned" The tv censors of the time didn't want Johnny to say "stoned" but he did anyway.

Sadly , this was Johnny's last TV show . He used Kris Kristoffersons word STONED and the TV critics hated him for doing that . He never appeared on TV after that . But the man has to be honored for his integrity , his honesty , and for taking a stand for staying true to his convictions

I just read your comment about Johnny Cash and his TV show. I would like to point out that this was the 4th time Johnny performed Sunday Morning Coming Down on his ABC TV Show.The first was during a Ride This Train segment, that is the version you hear on the radio. Johnny's ABC Show did end at episode #58 but he went on do do many more television appearances, including his 1976 summer replacement show and numerous Christmas specials through out the 80's. Thanks

Actually, he did appear on TV several times after this, not just performing music but sometimes acting in shows like Columbo, Little House on the Prairie, the Simpsons and in TV movies like Stagecoach and The Last Days of Frank and Jesse James. I'm not sure that very many TV critics hated him, but even if they did, that will not get you booted from the air for good.
