The Boys Can Funk it up with the best of em! Wow what a run , Digging these cats since /63 and today Micks at The White House with Jeff Beck,BB King Buddy Guy Ha Ha , Life is Good NO?
Evertime I went to a Party in the mid eighties this song would play. I think it was anyway they were parties afterall. They were also something in Concert back then playing the Jack Murphy Stadium.
what great ENTERTAINERS these dudes were, they never needed any flash, if you took the flash from current bands/acts from today, only very few would be there.
Gosh ! I haven´t seen this video for ages. I was 12 years old on the Tattoo You tour, but for me the best Stones tour ever was the 1972 one, the caligulesque :)
These guys... This band... The video for Start me up played on a network channel before a majore horse race in 1980, then MTV kicks it off, with the Stones vid within the first half hour, then you got This One?! Hell, blame my 4' 11'' grandma, who bought me the single 'She's so cold'/ 'Send it to me' single for my ninth birthday, God Bless Her... She knew, and she took some shit for it, 'cause my hair started to grow. And because of the Stones(you bet your ass), no more russian roullette baby.
STONIEN 100% PAS BESOIN DE DESSIN ,je rappele les vrais STONES SONT : MICK/ KEITH/ BILL/BRIAN /CHARLIE ,LES CINQ PUR ET DUR QUI ONT FORMES LE GROUPES ALORS PAS D'ERREUR PLEASE VERY GOODDDDDDDDDDD THE BEST STONE VIVE LES SIXTIES !!!! rebel 68
Remember in the eighties when you'd come home from where ever and turn on the TV and see this video on Mtv? Or when U'd wake up around noon from a late night of dancing and partying, roll out of bed, roll breakfast, turn on Mtv and smoke to this..watch music videos till evening...get ready, go out and do it all over again!...1980-1990
Fenomenal.....mick takes smokey on a mind bender...(I know, smokeys the man) but I like how mick uses his own fucki* lyrics, man...why not?...screw you purist nerds...I grew up in the 60's man, and I like this version...so there!!
Ahhh thanks for including Martha Quinn. It made me remember back when MTV used to play videos and have relevant programming on. And the Quarterflash and Linda Ronstadt sell out was funny as shit.
I love the Stones but they should have never attemped this, not a patch on the Miracles. They are so good and this does them not justice, although I have heard worse versions I just can't remember where or when
This was the last great Stones tour and live album. Tattoo You was their last great studio album. This is one of The Stones best covers. Harlem Shuffle is another great one.
After Tattoo You, they were never the same. Jagger had a mid-life crisis and destroyed the Stones as a working band. They've spent the last 20 years as a glorified Beach Boys Reunion tour band.
Finally! Someone I agree with on the tour and live album. I agree 100% They haven't put out much of anything since Tattoo You. This tour was the best sounding since about 76. This was the last tour that they were just pure stripped down. Now they have a 15 peice horn section, with 4 backup singers and its more of a show. I miss the old stones. Plus they are lacking Bill Wyman.
WOW! MTV used to actually play music videos??? What a concept!!
Always loved the Stones down and dirty funky version of this song. Never really understood why Mick had to add all the "drag" and "fag" lyrics though (2:59). But of course I understand Mick had his tongue -in-cheek British humor. Kinda like in later live versions of "Brown Sugar" when he replaces "young girl" with "young man" or "young boy".

Ok, Ron Wood has two cigarrettes in his mouth, and Keith Richards looks like he's dead.

The Stones' cover versions are 100% better than most of other artists original songs.

The song's great. I'm just stunned that Quarterflash and Linda Ronstadt could draw a million people (with help, of course).
