@pkakac It's actually the KTM 450 XC-W (wide ratio transmission), so the gearing is the biggest difference. I originally bought it as my enduro race bike with intentions to keep the Yamaha for the motocross track, but the KTM has blown me away on every type of terrain, from technical trails at Taylor Park to the supercross track at Berthoud. Having said that, the YZ450F has been the most reliable bike I've ever owned, so my fingers are crossed that the KTM is as trouble-free as the Yamaha.
That's interesting. I have a '08 YZ450f and have loved it mainly for mx. Although I've ridden a 200 EXC, 300 XC 2-Strokes and a 250f XC in enduro's. I'm curious as to dealing with the weight of the 450 over the course of an enduro, personally I favor the lighter bikes for off-road butt my YZ has been extremely reliable... The 450 wasn't a hand full at Taylor hey?
@pkakac The weight is the worst part of the bike (almost 30lbs heavier than the YZ450F), and it's a handful at events like EnduroCross. If I had my choice, I'd ride a KTM 250XC 2-stroke in the tight, technical terrain and then ride my KTM 450XC-W for everything else. But I'm on a college budget and could only go with one, and the 450 seemed to be the best all-around bike for my type of riding. Glad to hear your YZ450F has been equally reliable... that will always be one of my favorite bikes.
Hey I just wanted to ask you a question im 11 and i was wondering if my bike could make it over the huge table top the 70 foot jump I have a yz80 by the way.
how would you compare your yamaha to your new 450 KTM XCF?
