  • You guys are idiots every one knows that ounce in a blue moon the stark brings a baby smurf to the smurf village...no I'm not makin this up either it was in the show. Smurffet was created by gargamel to bring chaos to the smurf village. females are good for that I guess.

  • monotremes are mammals that lay eggs

  • Actually, don't Smurfs grow out of the ground like mushrooms?

  • Smurfette can service me anytime.

  • @Wezzipooh eww.

  • Smurfs reproduce throughout heavy sessions of homosexualisation.

  • The fact that the debate continues in the comments shows that this is a pertinent issue that might not ever be resolved.

  • actually, smurfs reproduce asexually. they have no genders. smurfette was just in denial.

  • Brock Sampson is killing everyone around you, your argument is invalid!

  • This is the stupidest argument I have ever heard! Do you people have nothing better to do?! It's a scientific fact that smurfs do in fact lay eggs!

It's just not smurphette that lays them...

  • Fact: Smurfette was brought into existance by MAGIC... Therefore I'm putting my money on that Smurf's only can reproduce by magic as well. Then again I know this wont stop the fun of guessing what other possable ways they could reproduce.

  • @Xel963 I can accept that Smurfette was created by magic, but what of Papa Smurf and the others? Papa smurf is clearly older, implying that Smurfs age and die at some point. If they do age but cant reproduce, how is a population sustained? I think Smurfs are hermaphrodites, like snails. They fuck themselves

  • wasnt smurfette made by gargamel to spy on them or sumthing? in which case, there were no female smurfs

  • This remind anyone else of Donnie Darko?

  • lol at top voted poindexters arguing about definition of mammals! Venture Bros is so educational XD

  • The platypus lays eggs and it's a mammal...isn't it?

  • @ResChronoNullius Thats because its a missing link

  • it is a weel respected fact that because the smurfs are a product of children's t.v. that they can and are brought into existence by the great stork

  • ....

    ....

    What was that all about?

  • @sodabecca123

    Geek talk?

  • I can't believe you idiots, how stupid do you have to be to have a conversation like this?! It's a scientific fact that smurfs do lay eggs!

  • @Ektherion00

    They fucking don't!

Smurfette didn't even exist until Gargamel created her, so don't try to use her as an explanation for the existence of all the other smurfs.

  • if you hit 8 it looks like hes giving a bj and say cock and beer

  • smurfette actually isnt a smurf at all she was created by gargamel to infiltrate the smurf village so i would imagine smurfs reproduce A-Sexually

  • a new smurf is born every blue moon on a mushroom... see the baby smurf episode

  • 24's thumb is dislocated.

  • @RotaryPoweredRX With a FUCKING KNIFE!!!

  • Didn't they ever read the comic books? Smurf children are delivered by storks on nights with a blue moon. That's it.

  • BEST DEBATE.... EVAR!!!

  • @ACRedsCreations Yeah, but what about the fantasy fistfight between Anne Frank and Lizzie Borden?

  • Smurfette is probably just a whore.

  • Oh my god! YOU'RE CRAZY!

  • Actually smurfs are brought by the stork from god know where and Smurfette was made by Gargamel to trick the smurfs

  • RIP Henchman #24

  • 1.Search Donnie Darko Smurfs

    2. enjoy

  • Smurfs reproduce like Nameks. Smurfette is a trap

  • Smurfs are obviously monotremes i.e. egg-laying mammals, such as the echidna and platypus.

  • Reminds me of Donnie Darko ha

  • how exactly does that make them mammal if they can grow beards?

  • You all apparently haven't watched Donnie Darko

  • This is the dumbest argument ever. it is scientific FACT that smurfs lay eggs.

  • Actually, Smurfette was created by Gargamel. So, how did all the other smurfs reproduce?

  • The platypus shits all over your argument, Number 21.

  • @Kross2099 The platypus and the Echnida are the only Mammals that lay eggs.

  • It makes sense they have a frog structure, but it would make more sense also that she's able to produce eggs, constantly.

  • There are actually TWO female Smurfs. Smurfette and a little girl Smurf. I can't remember her name but she wears pink overalls and a pink hat with braided pigtails. She's too young to reproduce.

  • Platypusses are the only mammals to lay eggs :)

  • @Spycrab777 Echidnas too

  • it was my understanding that Smurfette was created by Papa Smurf by somekinda magic spell thing.. it was by accident, if I recall correctly.

since Papa Smurf can create new smurfs, that means smurfs reproduce asexually though artificial means. (which may be the reason why all the other smurfs are male to begin with)

the existence of a female smurf just confirms somewhat that they can reproduce naturally..

  • @shamangerX I thought she was created by Gargamel.

  • @terrorofdeath93

maybe she was. my memory is foggy.

  • Don't Echidna's lay eggs and hair.

  • Papa smurf has a fucking beard! ROFL!

  • the platypus is a mammal and it lays eggs

  • the fact that smurfette is servicing all males doesnt mean she is mammal

look at cats, female can service a lot of male and yet doesnt lay eggs does she?

  • @Alxmir23 Maybe Smurfette just likes the cock.

  • @bryan10983 yeah indeed,she is a real smurfing slut

  • @bryan10983 as long as it's blue cock. You know once you go blue you'll never get screwd! LOL

  • @bryan10983 maybe they're like platypus.... egg laying mammals

  • Or maybe Smurfette killed all the other females, which is why she is the only one.

  • @Alxmir23 Eh...they said that one female servicing all males dubs them as egg layers, not mammals. So your analogy doesn't quite fit. :/

  • @Midfield401 ....quite right you are

  • You can also look at Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, or any other celebrity slut.

  • @SmartGuy4today yeah those are good example too

  • @Alxmir23 You make this sound like a furry yiff question damn it! :P

  • @Alxmir23 Well it's true man! xD

  • But isn't the platypus a mammal that lays eggs?

  • she'd be in estrous 24/7!!!!!

  • Seeing 21 get so heated and serious into this argument never fails to make me laugh.

  • I always figured they were fungi based. Since they live in mushrooms and all that.

  • @Girkon Then you are saying Smurfs are like Warhammer 40K Orks?

That actualy makes sense! Especialy that (if my childhood memories are correct) Smurfette and the kids were created by Gargamel. So no natural females among Smurfs! THEY GROW OUT OF FREAKIN SPORES!

  • Papa Smurf has a Fu*#ing beard!

  • Comment removed

  • Platypus and Echidna are mammals that lay eggs.

  • @GrandmasterX

It's not a slated rule that mammals don't lay eggs. Within the grouping known as mammals there are 3 sub-groupings: Protherians (Platypuses [which lay eggs]), Metatherians (Kangaroos + Koalas [have a pouch for developing young]), and Eutherians (Dogs + Cats + Humans). The Protherians are a very early grouping of mammals and most of which are extinct. The Platypus and the Echidna are the last remaining species of mammals that lay eggs.

  • ...who cares? >:[ Smurfette is a whore anyways! :D

  • what about the hairy frog?

  • @gorillazfan3

What does Gérard Depardieu have to do with it?

  • @bryan10983 why, PLENTY my gooood sir.

  • @bryan10983

    OH NO YOU LE DIDN'T!

  • @gorillazfan3 The hairy frog?

  • Papa Smurf has a Fu*#ing beard!

  • Donnie Darko!

  • is that ray or kermit the frog?

  • Platypus

  • @SkullRiff Echidna!

  • The monotremes lay eggs and are mammals. Boom! /thread

  • The smurfs are clearly extra-terrestials, and so the arbitrary categories of mammals and insects do not apply. These categories are the result of historical evolutionary contingency. There's no reason that traits like hair, warm-bloodedness and the birth of live young have to be shared in an animal that followed an evolutionary process completely independant of how it developed on Earth. They're not mammals or insects. They're smurfs, a category unto themselves that has unique traits. Duh!

  • "It looked like two ninjas, taped together to make one giant ninja!" XD

  • @Everyone who keeps saying spiders have hair.

Not according to Wikipedia they don't: "Found exclusively in mammals, hair is one of the defining characteristics of the mammalian class." Whatever spiders have, it doesn't meet the scientific definition of "hair."

Again, from Wikipedia: "Although non-mammals, especially insects, show filamentous outgrowths, these are not considered "hair" either, in the scientific sense. "

  • @bryan10983

I don't care about the argument one way or another, but I hate Wikipedia, and just want to point out that the spider entry has nine references to them having hair. Wikipedia is just a web forum. "Wikipedia says..." carries as much weight with me as saying some guy said it on Fark or YouTube.

  • @bryan10983 aperrantly everyone

  • @bryan10983 well there's your problem. You use wikipedia

  • @bryan10983 Tarantula's have glass fibers that make them have the presence of "hair". Not sure about the rest.

  • @bryan10983 I find it funny how you rely on Wikipedia.

  • WTF is that extra finger on his left hand at :06?

  • both have valid arguments

  • this whole episode is amazing. one of the best!

  • Smurfs could possibly be mammals, for there are 2 mammals in the world that lay eggs. They are, the Echidna, and Platypus, both of which are found in Australia.

  • I'd think she has a litter and they're like Krogan in mass effect where they have a gang bang every once in a blue moon and theirs a tribe of fertile female

  • What episode is this hahaha

  • @TheSmokingSamurai "Are you there god? It's me, Dean." First season.

  • I love this bit

  • This is lifes hardest question ever.

  • @PuniperTV so true

  • maybe smurfs are mammals that lay eggs? like the platypus?

how does a conversation like that start?

  • Feeding fuel to the endless smurf debate, I have this question that I always wanted to know. Since Gargamel needed smurfs for his magic recipes or whatnot and he apparently knows how to make smurf (since he manged to create Smurfete), how come he just doesn't make his own smurfs to use as ingredients?

  • Hmmm how come i upload a venture bros vid, it gets banned, someone else does and its fine :S

  • @hawwy1987: The rules make no sense and are enforced haphazardly. I had all of my Robocop videos taken down within days but other people's clips have been up for years.

  • @bryan10983 My point exactly. There are a sh** loads of 300 vids that aren't taken down :/

  • @hawwy1987 They changed up the sound a little bit, in other video's i've seen them reverse the image, theirs a bunch of tricks people use to avoid copyright bullshit.

  • @hawwy1987 dude i he ar you same for me with amvs its maddening

  • that is.... a very strange conversation

  • 0:15 The Dramatic music is what sells the joke. (Laughs)

  • The platypus is a mammal and it lays eggs... :).

  • They really do only have one female so she would be getting rammed every damn day =P

  • the smurfs is a fucking cartoon and papa smurf is a pimp thats real!. lol

  • I just love the insanity-driven music in the background while they fight about it^^

  • how is PS having a beard make the Smurfs mammals?

  • @nwojunkie Because mammals are the only animals that have hair.

  • @bryan10983

    That's not entirely correct.

  • @bryan10983 what about the Platypus?

  • @nwojunkie i thnik thats like a mega hrybrid like one of those midget giraffes

  • Comment removed

  • They're monotremes which are egg laying mammals

  • @mud409 like platypus and echidna

  • @bryan10983

    *cough* tarantulas...

  • @bryan10983 aracnids?

  • They could be molerats...

  • The eggs are the mushooms fool!

  • "I WON'T TELL YOU THIS AGAIN" lol love it

  • Platypus lay eggs...

  • @nerichika

Are you suggesting the Smurfs are part of the monotremata order?

  • every great show and movie has the great smurf debate in it XD :dead:

  • Smurfs are more ant like than anything. They march in rows. Follow a strong leader like Papa Smurf. like ants follow a Prime Ant.

They storage food like ants and they have one queen. that queen chooses who he mates are. Thus proving there Queen must be a Egg layer.

  • @warsun99

The description of behaviour you've described can also be found on many mammalian species.

Also, Smurfette is NOT the "queen" of the Smurfs. She wasn't even part of the Smurf society until Gargamel created her with alchemy.

The Smurfs were a thriving society before the introduction of any female, which makes me think they are mammals that reproduce by parthenogenesis.

Also, their sexual dimorphism mimics not only mammalian sexual dimorphism, but human sexual dimorphism.

  • @BohemianBlasphemy Ah i didnt know that . Thank you

  • but a platypus lays eggs, so i'd have to side with 24

  • Where else can you find grown-ass men in butterfly suits fighting about smurfs?

    XD

  • Look around Youtube, there's footage of Henchmen trick or treating, SO AWESOME

  • Oh, yeah, I saw that video!

    <3 :D <3

  • i had this same argument in ceramics class with a friend

  • This was all explained in Donnie Darko...

  • and we still didnt get it then....

  • I once had a discussion about how Gumby reproduction

  • That is a good question though:

What the hell kind of animal are smurfs anyway?

  • does anybody no were i can watch the full episode of this?

  • I couldn't help but think of this scene while watching Jim Cameron's Avatar.

  • smufs where awesome but they are now extinct

do to a elementary school pres needed smufberrys. XD

  • they argue about the weirdest things! it's freaking hilarious!

  • they dont lay eggs but spread spores that just develop by the rays of the blue moon then.

  • I love how the dramatic music plays as 21 rants about smurf physiology xD

  • what about the platapus? they're mammals and lay eggs. is it so impossible for another creature to be the same? not that I'm saying smurfs lay eggs, that would be ridiculous.

  • i was going to throw something up there about the mighty platapus but you covered it...

  • This the type of debates my friends and I have!

  • That's just sad.

  • *sigh* Okay. Folks. This is how it works. There were 100 Smurfs originally. All male. Made... by magic or something. Smurfette was created by Gargamel, intended as a trap for the Smurfs. She eventually renounced Gargamel and turned good. She never had chlidren with the male Smurfs, though.

It is established, on the appearance of Baby Smurf, that a Smurf is born every blue moon. It just appears. So, tecnnically, yes, Smurfs reproduce asexually. But not by cell division.

  • You are my hero.

  • I just wish I could hear this post delivered in 21's voice.

  • Dude. Can I marry you?

  • @g9or9d ...That was amazing! I barely remember the names of the smurfs. You're like a Smurfologist.

  • @g9or9d Then what about that series of smurf children that happened to crop up one day? One of them was a girl.

Smurfette is a slut if not a whore, that's all there is to it.

  • @Nyrufa The Smurflings were normal, full-grown Smurfs that had their aging magically reversed. They created Sassette, the girl, using Gargamel's recipe.

  • @g9or9d Well that's odd. Who changed them into kids? Far as I remember, I was just watching the show one day and them BAM smurf children!

  • @g9or9d What about Sassette?

  • @TheOtaku031284 Sassette is an artificial Smurf, too, and also started out evil, although she was created by the Smurflings using Gargamel's recipe.

  • @g9or9d

OK Donnie Darko (when he was wasted) said that about Smurfette...but I don't remember seeing it excplicitlly like that anywere in the cartoon series.

In fact, I remember 2 Smurfettes. There is the blonde one (with the white high hills) that is in almost every episode and whose origins were never made clear (at least not to me)

...AND there is the one that Gargamel made...this one was brunnete...I don't remember what happenet to her I think she died or got lost or something like that.

  • @orion1077 Okay, man, no problem, allow me to provide some clarity. The two Smurfettes you remember are, in fact, the same Smurfette. When Gargamel first made her she had dark hair. When she ultimately turned good, her hair turned blonde. I did see this episode and, as far as I know, the brunette Smurfette only lasted the one episode and turned good at the end of it, so I don't know how you could have seen the brunette Smurfette without seeing her transformation, but there you go.

  • @g9or9d

Hmmm...that fills certain gaps...I was suspecting it might be the case but I wasn't sure...I was beetween 6-8 when the Smurfs were on TV.

Thanks for the clarification...I'll try to find that episode and watch it.

  • @orion1077 No problem. To be honest, I'm surprised I remember it sometimes.

  • @g9or9d Allow me to complement. Another episode shows Gargamel making a magic to regain control of her, making her hair going black and her going evil again. She fools the other Smurfs into a trap, and when Gargamel is about to use them as potion ingredients, not wanting to spare any of them, not even the baby, she rebels again, reverting his 2nd spell and turning back to blonde and free from his mind control. So, in fact, there's a minimum of two episodes with the brunnete Smurfette.

  • @DwarfPriest Nice one! I remember that episode now. Well played!
