I just made this, but with just water instead of white wine, and it was not only delicious fish, but the couscous and tomatoes served as a wonderful side dish.
This took me about 10 minutes to prepare and I just got my ingredients in a few minutes at a local grocery store. A lot of this is typical pantry stuff, except for the fish. I already eat the rest of the stuff nearly every day. This is delicious, easy, and fast. =)
yeah i stil love emerils idea of smell-a-vision exspecialy with some of the stuff he has made because most of them probobly have to smell soooo goooood
(holds up fake fish)Fish tastes more like fish,(holds up fake chicken)chicken tastes more like chicken, and I suppose,(holds up fake Alton) given enough time, I would even taste more like me.

No, no no don't get me wrong, I think Alton rocks!! I was just responding to his opening comments about letters from fans that said they dont have time to cook, so they go and get big macs. then Alton starts off with a dish that requires us to go buy 6 different ingridents, cut the up, make the pouch and cook for 30 minutes. The second part of this video is much better for speed.
OH! Well, yeah I can't say that I disagree with that. You know, I've seen episodes where he, himself, has cut corners on some ingredients.
As far as time-friendly eats, check out his episode on spuds or casseroles... alot of times you can put together dishes from left-over items that would otherwise go to waste.
Honestly, if I can put a meal together from dish-initiation to dinner-table, I'm pretty happy.
No, Alton was trying to say that this is quick and easy, but when you have to spend an hour buying all the ingredients, it is simple not. I love Alton, I was just saying he should not have started the video that way.
hes just setting up some guidelines and getting you familiar with the tools, you go buy the tools, take em home then improvise, throw in some left overs, some frozen foods whatever

when you have no time, you have no time to buy the tools that include parchment paper, koser salt, pepper, parsley, lemon, kooskoos, articokes, tomatos, garlic and red onion, white wine, butter??????????? COME ON. Give me an f'ing break---if I had the time to get all of that, I would make a real meal. ALTON is full of shit on this one!
you don't have to follow recipes to a core. This episode was all about the technique. As long as you have liquid and some veggies and meat and some sort of seasonings. You MUST have some sort of produce o.O
A.) Couscous, not "kooskos." Contrary to what you might think, spelling counts. We're grownups.
B.) If you take issue with ingredients, with techniques or with estimated prep time for recipes, then just quietly eschew preparing them at home. It's a tip from a cooking show, not a mandate from God on High.
IMPROVISE!!!!! THINK, EVER HEARD OF THAT? THINK. THAT SIMPLE WORD THAT ABOUT EVERY ONE BUT AB FORGOT or buy a pickle in a pouch and make sure it matches your attitude towards alton: SUPER SOUR!!!!
A whole fish might scare kids...that would be hilarious XD

I remember Bum suppers. It was a mix of vegetables and meat, put into a tin foil pouch, and set by a campfire. Very good eats.

The prep would take about 5-10 minutes. If you can't wait 40 minutes to eat, you must have some issues.

Alton's idea was that pouch cooking is faster cooking, not necessarily "quick and easy."

whats the point then? if you have to go to the store and take an hour and a half to get everything, there is no time saved.
