No one other than surprise. I guess you are the only ones having it. Everywhere there are commemorations days but not on so many occasions. But now that you make me think about it, this issue is quite interesting. I can't stand commemoration days. Very often (not always and not in this case) they are a way through which a political organization promotes its agenda, and the commemoration is useful more to the organization than to the people. Or are there statistics showing their utility ?
Even in the case of the Parents' Appreciation Day (I hope this has not political links), I frankly doubt there are papers demonstrating the pedagogic utility of it. I could be wrong but this is my hunch.
The USA only have 365 days, not quite enough for 'everything'.
Europe and other continents help them out with other unique holidays.. but really we all need vacations Every day to cover Every thing.
We have robot slaves already, We just need to get the social structure in place so it all functions smoothly.
There will be no shortage of things to do either BTW. lots to commemorate and celibate, every single day in fact, or travelling to get to a celebration or something.
> The USA only have 365 days, not quite enough for 'everything....
good and funny points. But I'm ready to bet there are overlapping national days. Without mentioning the fact we could use the irrational numbers domain to fractionate the calendar :)
I was walking my niece to buy her a promised treat for scoring well on a math test. "Charlie-Jo, what will you be when you grow up?" "A mermaid." she said. "Youre going to have to grow gills." I said. "What are gills?" "They help you breath under water." "I'll use my nose." "But you would drown." "That's not true. The little mermaid didn't drown and she got a nose and talks too!" "You're right, I didn't think of that!" She saw it so it must be true.
Her story ties into what the guy was saying about evoking the truth via supportive/enthusiastic coaxing. Her kid felt that by telling a lie he would be praised by his friends for having such a kick ass family.Fear always plays some small or big role or maybe the only reason we lie.
i lied as a kid cuz i knew i'd get in trouble if i told the truth anyways
