Am i the only one who kind of finds this scene anti-climatic?

You go through the whole thing of the two orks fighting only to have goreguts bust in and celare himself warboss. THEN WHATS THE BIG WAY WERE GONNA TAKE THE OTHER ORKS, blow up their banner... Wouldn't killing their warboss make much more sense, i mean orks may be primitive but I dont think they put a banner before their own warboss, do they?

Right, but why would that be more important than killing the other clans war boss?

As we see in Dark Crusade, orks have this strange fasination with banners, but it seems strange that the 40k authors, designers, etc. never seem to question why a warboss, even with the disgrace of having his waaagh banner destroyed, couldn't rally his men with the same fear that united them in the first place. It just seems like a strange cope out to destroy the banner than the big boss.

It's not because of the banners. It's because the warboss is losing. The Orks right next to him are still scared into obedience but the ones on the front line are now convinced that killing da warboss is the only solution.

Its not unheard of, just rare. And considering this ork wasn't as deranged as most are we can assume that he probably is smarter than the rest and see a tactic to retreating.

Its rare but the Blood Axes do use retreating because that are dimmed unorkish by the other clans because of it and using human weaponry and tactics. I never heard of a snakebite retreating? they are pretty much like other orks just primitive and savage.
