well, they keep saying how homophobic Poland is but I have never noticed it. Gays are not persecuted in any way. I understand that the only reason we are called homophobic is that they are not allowed to adopt children. Well, children are not objects. They have every right to be brought up in a normal family where there is a mother and a father. We are members of the EU. If gays are not happy with the moral standards in Poland they can easily move to another country
People who say that there is no homophobia in Poland just don't see it, because it is so normal in here. Everyone say "faggot" to offend someone, "jew" to say that someone is stingy, or "nigger" on cheap manual worker. Learning of catholic church just gives excuses to do this in the name of "moral values".
@pawlacz1991 Same in other European countries. By the way, the Catholic Church teaches you respect for other people. I have never heard any priest calling anyone faggot or nigger. I don't understand people that like discrediting their own country. Poland is culturally and historically tolerant. You can't call Poland intolerant just because it chooses to stick to moral values
@minimouse0285 Same in other Catholic countries... Protestant Europe doesn't have as big problems with homosexuality as Poland. I lived in the Netherlands, GB and Sweden and I saw how nice people are for each other no matter if you're gay, black or asian. I don't care how tolerant Poland was few centuries ago, I'm ashamed of Poles offending others, even abroad. It isn't moral to intrude into someone's life. And I dont care what church SAYS, I care what church DOES.
"communists taken off to the camp" That's a give-away I think. Communists are nazi's in their own right as far I'm concerned. On a sidenote I also like how they blame one people (the Poles in this case) for doing something wrong that you'll find in every country, pretty much like how those jews were blamed for whatnot, no? Hypocrisy breeds incompetence and it's own foe. Seems pretty clear to me who didn't learn anything from back then.
We, citizens of Romania, friends of Romania and of the people of Europe, expressing our strong opposition to the Assembly's proposed course of action. Hatespeak? A perfect way to eliminate all who disagree with the position of whoever currently holds the reins of political correctness. It even sounds like it's from 1984. It is the perfect way to gag those who disagree with one's personal master plan for turning the world into a "single, happy, unified" moral and ideological cesspit.
There are hundreds of Polish/Estonian/Latvian & Lithuanians in this counbtry seeking economic benefits...if those countries refuse to abide by EU rules on Gay equality then their rights to live and work in the UK should be removed.....I ban homophobic eastern europeans in my business and report to the police.....and thats been several dozen recently....word is now spreading and I hear & see less homophobia here...in fact more from local british police !!!
@cracoviaaaaaa: Many of them had emigrated from Poland to the United States (particularly in the Northeastern regions), United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and New Zealand in order to seek their fundamental rights. Too bad but I think more LGBT Polish individuals will leave Poland in the future. They are trying to leave the country as soon as possible.
@rogelio67 Nothing special... these bullshits about Poland and the Poles write retards and full of complexes peasants closed in their dark, poor and pitiful crowded minds, stupid, uneducated persons that have never spent even one day in Poland.
Cashman is right. Poland - where I've lived for 8 years - is endemically homophobic. Eastern Europe, I believe, is a lost cause. It was a mistake for the EU to invite it in. The average Pole looks down on Jews, gays, its own peasantry, gypsies, and even the British and Irish these days, certainly anyone black or brown.
HEY... Czech Republic is the most atheistic and gay-friendly cluntry in Central Europe in comparison to Poland and Slovenia. Czech Republic might legalize same-sex marriage in the near future. Stop bashing Czech Republic, please
@view587: Well, racism exists everywhere around the world that we live in. It might occurs in Czech Republic as well but not significantly. It depends on how you behave towards them. As an immigrant to the world's powerful nation, I find it shocking that Americans are even more homophobic and discriminatory (especially people from the South) than Europeans. At least Czech Republic never passed the segregation law like the USA "Separate but equal" policy or South Africa's apartheid.
@view587 are you speaking from your personal experiece? Cause I've lived in Czech republic for almost twenty years and I have never met anyone who would feel an animosity towards black people such as the one you're describing. In Czech republic we have problems with Romani people and there is a certain level of resentment towards them, but that's with good reasons. Romani are highly unadaptive people and our lifestyle just doesn't compare to theirs by a large shot.
Fuck off from Poland - we established an ant-homophobic laws as early as 1932 way before Germany and UK where they castrated their homosexuals up to 1950's (Alan Turring). This man is a Soviet Era propagandist.
@cracoviaaaaaa Exactly. The problem is, that the European Parliament majority of Socialists and Liberals are way-off from reality and think that the like the USSR Politburo can impose cultural relativism and anti-marriage propaganda upon the European nations. They think that political correctness and fear among civilians means they consent to their EUSSR concepts. Nothing is farther from truth.
Such an anti-historical silly Mr Cashman who knows nothing. Dutch, Belgian and German historians now all conclude, that no homosexuals were persecuted for their homosexuality at all. In fact, from 1957 until 1967 more homosexuals were legally persecuted in Holland, than inside Germany during the entire Third Reich. Down with homosexual "marriage", dissolution of family, gay propaganda against parents of children, and down with historical and dramatizing lies repeated in RPE. Long live Family!
marriage is a relation between a man and a woman,.. therefore there can not be gay marriages. Cohabitation is the best you can get. Dont expect us to change the way we are just because you like cock. If two men raising a child was something natural then nature would allow for a man give birth... The only difference between straight and gay is what the latter do in his bedroom and there is no reason for it to became a public agenda,..
actually, we pretty much did leave the nazis to it - we didn't bomb the railway tracks to auschwitz. and at the end of the war, we prevented jews from being able to get to Palestine.
well the point is that you seem to agree that stopping discrimination is a good thing but you dont agree when it is homosexuality that is being discriminated against. I may be wrong but from what I can tell from the video the guy is just debating anyway, not forcing anybody to do anything.
Polish parents can tell their kids that but if their child turns out to be gay then they will feel alot more rejected by their parents. They could tell their kids it is right to be gay or straight.
Yes, I agree people should not be persecuted for being gay.
I am not a cultural relativist, but I think that Poland is a separate country from Britain, and they can form their own policies towards protecting their citizens. - if their human rights situation really was so appalling as you suggest (like jews in WW2) then they would not have been allowed into the EU, would they? (like TUrkey)
Of course its not as extreme as WW2, but at the same time, all discrimination is wrong. So I dont think arguing against it is ever wrong.
The problem is that their policies, (if the people who make them are even prejudice/ discriminatory themselves) will be discriminatory, and born from prejudice, not from wisdom or rational debate.
That may indeed be the problem for Poland but it is THEIR problem. - Poland is a democracy and they are entitled to have prejudiced leaders if they want to vote for them.
It is a whole other problem for them if outside agencies come in and start telling them what to do and what to THINK.
Again this is the exact same reasoning that would suggest we leave the Nazis to their genocide.
It isnt about forcing them to change so much as making them see the error of their ways I believe. Governments will always be able to persecute minorities, whilst staying in power, if they use enough propoganda to keep the general population prejudice. That doesnt make it right and pointing out how it is wrong is a good thing to do imo.
Yep, though ideally it should involve an exhaustive debate about why Gay people are discriminated against in Poland, assuming they are (and whether or not this is justified).
where was this asshole and his beloved country the west has sold all of Eastern Europe's Russia? where was this little man as 20 years ago destroyed human rights in my country? Where was this little man bored with life. When my father was like hundreds of thousands of others sat in jail for talking about democracy? This stinking theorist offensive my country who fought for civil liberties when he sucked their mother's tit. This is not funny, but tragic.
@2200outlaw If you're going to shoot an insult to someone, at least check your spelling first because then you end up looking like a jackass. The actual term is Gay and I love him because of the fact that he fights for HUMAN rights. We are in 2010 and bigotry and homophobia should end. Grow up.

The EU manipulates its members incredibly via the "atrocitiys" of WW2, i just cant understand why these politicians would even bring that analogy concerning the nature of homosexuality to be a protected right like religions and minorities. Comparing the events such like but not limited to the (holocaust/nazi subjugation) to the polish resistance of succumbing into toleration of homosexuality is abysmal. Although im only 16, i can not argue more how terribly flawed socialisim and liberalsim is.
Homosexuality is not a choice... you are probably under that misconception. And it is not the case that homosexuals have heterosexual attractions. They have no attraction to the opposite gender, they only love and lust the same gender.
That is why it is just as wrong to persecute homosexuals as any other person (not only because they didnt even choose to be that way) but also because they are not harming anybody else through their existence.
I'm gay, but I don't agree with hate crime laws at all; the state doesn't have a right to decide what is considered hate and what isn't. A crime is a crime regardless of the victim. However, we need to combat homophobia.
Good sentiment, but never a great idea with minority rights. Did the 'gay' kid at your school get mobbed in the playground, did the handy capped kid? Don't give people a chance to do that anonymously.

I'm a Japanese man in Poland. That means I'm from a 99% rightwing country. But, I'm still quite stunned by what some Poles say about Jews and homosexuals. How anybody can be so hateful about something that they are supposed to be unrelated to is way beyond me.
@mclizyk2 its because Poland is not gay, unlike the most other european countrys (no offend to those real european people in the western european nations)
@mclizyk2 - yeah, sure, what have you heard that is so wrong ??? maybe you will cite, cause what you said is just a bunch of defamator lies ! And whatever it was, that you've heard, it will never be as bad as you (Japanese) and Germans did few decades ago, when you murdered millions of people just for their race, or their belives, you have no moral right to judge Poland, which was the most tolerant country in the world, and the ONLY country before II WW where jews could live in peace.
This piece of shit Michael Cashman should be taken to court by Polish state for defamatory slander, and comparison to german nazis. I live in Poland and have NEVER witnest any kind of violence targeted in jews, or homosexuals, or even heard of such circumstance. But I've heard and saw this - EVERY YEAR there are racist/nazi manifestations in Germany, EVERY YEAR there are Jews, and Gypsies beaten up in France etc. we have nothing like this in Poland, but still we are the bad ones ?!
About the gays - they have EXACTLY same rights as any one in Poland, so FUCK OFF, and mind your own bussines, cause you have had, and still have MUCH more problems with tolerance !
@kkkkrackers that is bullshit - you can defend homophobia as much as you want but it makes you a bad person, YES it does ! ANYONE who picks one thing about someone and tries to use it to cancer out that person's humanity is inhuman themselves - MORE so than they think that minority which they hate is unhuman !
oh this guy should write screenplays to horror movies, he is a master of creating sense of threat and fear. Where the hell in Poland any person is fired from job because he likes his anus being penetrated? This guy is a lunatic! And at this point, me being polish I feel threatened by him by over-accusing me about homophobia. Also, my human rights are abused because the guy is lying and he knows about that!. Sure dude, make the story juicy, you know that people will buy it!
Please mind that in the context of guaranteeing equal rights for men and women the penetration of the anus has to become equivalent to the penetration of the vagina! lol.
Slonzok, you know that nobody in Poland cares what you do in your bedroom, you can have even your belly button penetrated if you want, as long as you don't do it in a public place.

Nie widziałem większego idioty. To jest poziom dyskusji w PE. Apeluję o bojkot tej instytucji i nie branie udziału w wyborach do Parlamentu Europejskiego. To po prostu wstyd.
I've never seen greater idiot. This is level of discussion in EP. I'm appealing to boycott this institution and not to take part in elections to European Parliament. It's just a shame.
Western people are terribly naive. You're dangeorus becaue you can buy every lie about other countries and get angry with them . Media manipulate you but you're so stupid that you can't see that .
AUDIATUR ET ALTERA PARS! - listen to ther side - ancient Romans 2000 years ago knew that , but current western people don't understand that ! They listen to only their liyng media and believe them and that way became xenophobic.
I could accuse M. Cashman of rape - but it would NOT mean truth !
M. Caashman is a necroracist ! He talked about victims of german camps: Jews, gays, communists . Why didn't he mention Poles? Poles were first victims of german camps in ocupied Poland! In Auschwitz among 400 000 prisoners were 200 000 Jews and 150 000 Poles and a few thousands of Gays. This is necroracism - western people see only suffering of Jews, gays or communists but they don't want to see the biggest victims of WWII : about 20 millions Slavs !
This story is a perefect example of medial manipulation and provocation ! Polish journalist made an intervieuw with ombudsman of children rights Ewa Sowińska and he asked her about Tinky-Winky. He said that some parents were worry about homosexuals elements in Tinky -Winky and he asked her about internention . Sowińska said that she didn't see a problem but if some parents were afraid then she would check it. If she would ignore his question - then he would accuse her. It was provocation !
Maybe we can agree on the two points that a) Poland did not actively persecute homosexuals, and that b) Poland should consider civil rights that include homosexuals, including the right to get married.
"Poland should consider civil rights that include homosexuals, including the right to get married."
Lets make a referend about that, ok? Civil rights includes just 'civilians', considering some special groups by giving them special rights is against "equality".
I am not talking about 'special' groups or about 'special' rights. That is just your imagination.
I am talking about the universal right of every citizen to get married with the partner of their choice. Why should a government want to limit that choice to 'opposite sex' partners? Governments have nothing to do with the choice of my, or your, partner. That is not 'special' at all.
Same goes for the right to get a job, serve in the military, to not be discriminated etc. etc.
And who said about gov choosing partners for anyone? You see some non existing casees and don`t see the real ones... I tell you once again, marriage is a church sacriment, the civic so called "marriage" is a contract... which for some reason is granting privillages to its subscribers.
Marriage is not a religious institution. Religion co-opted marriage, but marriage predated religion. Marriage has always been used to grant a range of social privileges.
Marriage is a right, not a privilege. The privileges follow the right. Gays are being denied that right. But you, for the life of you, will not wrap your head around it, will you?
Typical bigoted Polack. But hey, what to expect from someone from a nation that would vote Kaczynski into office?
It was me who said something about gov choosing partners for anyone. Namely, your gov demanding that adults only marry adults from the opposite sex, in spite of their personal preference. Now that's a stupid, bigoted gov, who sticks its nose in something that's none of their business.
Your religion may consider marriage a sacrament, and you're welcome to do so, but I don't care. Yet the civil 'contract' should be for anyone, indiscriminately
So you say that`s bad if gov allows only adults? I say that gov shouldn`t even bother about any marriage, people will do whatever they want to do and nobody cares with whom. Stupid is that gov demand everybody to pay for social privilages these couples enjoy. That`s a clear injustice, not that few other leeches cannot suck money. And yes, our gov is stupid enough to be in EU.
I`m not religious, i`m only saying what was marriage before these "bigoted" govs bothered to issue the civil one.
Artgaul wrote: "Poland already banned gay marriage in 1997 so there is no point in a gay parade".
I'd say that if some people are denied an essential right that is granted to other people, this is obviously discriminating. With the Polish separation of church and state, the state has no grounds to deny gay people the right to marry. Specially because getting married is a human right and no one is harmed if two people from the same sex get married. So yes, there's reason for protest.
Don`t listen to Artgaul, he`s wrong. Poland didn`t bnned any gy "marriages" in 1997 or whenever... simply there`s nothing like gay marriage and never was. Marriage originally ws a church sacriment, than was created its civil form also called "marriage" (misleading), which is nothing more but a civil deal between two subjects.
By any mean people of any gender can sign similar deal, they can even call thier company "marriage", they`ll just don`t get some social privilages...
"they`ll just don`t get some social privilages... "
Which is inherently discriminatory. Do you not grasp that? Until homosexuals can enjoy those same rights and priveleges that heterosexuals enjoy, it is not equal.
I agree, i feel discriminated when my money from taxes are taken of me and given to somebody just for nothing. Unless some social group enjoy any privillages, it`s not "equal", but also not fair.
Government taxation for socialistic programs has nothing to do with this issue. The reality stands that you're denying a fundamental right to one demographic that the opposite demographic enjoys. It's tantamount to defining voting as something only men can do.
Oh yes it does, that`s what goes after that contract called "marriage" such a 'company' is granted a special treatment, is privillaged.
I`m not denying any rights, i`m just opposing the privillages and to your information, i think the heterosexual couple shouldn`t be as well privillaged.
I just think that the invention of cilvil "marriage" should be cancelled.
I say thank you as a Polish gay man and in the name of all gay, lesbian and transgender people in Poland. Who are not currenty represented in government.
Poland banned discrimination on sexual orientation in its labor code and allows gays in its military and Poland already banned gay marriage in 1997 so there is no point to gay pride parades in Poland. In addition, 60% of Poles are against gay pride and homosexuality in general.
Nothing shameful cause they already banned discrimination on sexual orientation in Constitution and banned gay marriage in Const. as well. So no point for civil rights and no point to protest for marriage that is already banned.
lol, the constitution is the end? the power comes from the people and serves to the people. it's an 18th century proverb taken as the principle of the democracy in general.
the level of civilization is measured in how we treat minority and the disabled.
you must update your attitude, it's a couple of centurys late.
everything changes, the only constant is the change.
They means who? Just to mention a 'detail', Poland was the first country which decriminalised homosexuals. Speaking that somebody wants to kill homosexuals is some paranoya, same as the speech above in EP is.
Done! @Jimmerryland, they`ve got the same rights as any other citisen, so what`s the deal?
I guess you don`t talk about this speech above, as i don`t hear there nothing about rights, law, reality... just some grotesque of nazis resurrection and thier 'final solution' for gays, sounds more like a script for B-class movie than anything real.
The right to marry for gay couples isn't a special right any more than than it is a special right for straight couples.
Straight people can marry (with all social privileges that affords) and they can adopt children as a family unit. Gay people cannot do that. You cannot say they have the same rights as any citizen when indeed they do not.
There can`t be any right for same-sex marriage becouse 'marriage' is a church sacriment and it doesn`t allow that. The civic "marriage" is a deal between two sides, such a deal is possible for any two (or more) adult persons. I strongly oppose such a social experiment, to let kids be adopted by two (or more) homosexual people. Nature didn`t allowed them to procreate for some reson (what a discrimination!). Note: there`s no "equality" in real life.
The church has no say in a secular nation. In a secular nation, marriage is a civil contract between two consensual adults that would like to share their lives together. If you mean to say Poland is a theocracy, then it has no place in the European Union, for theocracies are not compatible with democracy.
Beyond that, marriage was co-opted, not invented, by Christianity. There have been marriages and similar unions in many different cultures and time periods preceding your religion.
The church has something to say in its affairs, like any other organisation, and it doesn`t allow marriages to the same-sex couples.
You know that even without marriage you can "share lives together"?
You can always read about the politics in Poland if you have any doubts. "theocracies are not compatible with democracy" - proove it.
I`m not religious. If you didn`t knowed yet, christianity comes from judaism. Maybe we should consider poligamy, like in islam, it would be so "democrtic".
The only fanatic is you. Nobody is forcing you to conform to anything. Rather, your kind is doing the forcing.
I've stayed in Poland for over two years. I can tell you firsthand that it is the saddest, most pretentious, most overbearingly regressive nation I've thus far seen in Europe. That's the fruit of your own unworldliness and stubborn unwillingness to accept change. And you know what? Good for you. You're the fucking laughing stock of the world, and you're unhappy at it too.
As for arguments, I've already made myself clear previously in the comments.
I've noticed that reason doesn't work for you. You lack the faintest inkling of intellectual curiousity, prefering instead to adhere to backwards, abusive dogma. You repeat the same tired, unsubstantiated, fallacious arguments over again like a broken record. Forget accepting diversity with open arms, you even can't look past your own bigotry to at least grant others the same rights and respect that you enjoy.
I pity you, spending two years in a place you hate so much... it was for sure a traumatic experience for you. But please don`t share your chavinist prejudice with me, but rather with some psychoanalist, i cannot help you.
Not to mention, I don't think you can see just how much stupidity is oozing out of your comments. I'm not even talking about grammar, since English is undoubtedly your second language. There is a certain blunt lack of articulation in your words, and a clear lack of understanding of such basic things as causality.
Look, man, maybe you're just a frustrated closet gay guy that can't help but be an ass, I which case I truly feel sorry that you can't be true to yourself, but I don't swing that way.
I guess you just cannot speak in another than abusive way, the only point you make is 'ad hominem', so if you`ve got nothing more to say, than don`t say nothing.
As for inferior, I only look at Poland as inferior in the way Texas might be inferior to, say, Rhode Island, or West Virginia to perhaps California, or Ireland to England.
Which is to say, intelligent people have come out of Poland's stock, and most of them jumped ship as soon as the opportunity arose.
I don`t mind your opinion about any country, one chavinist comment was enough, now you just pretend to excuse your abusive words by making some "sense".
This is even funny if we consider the number of academic graduates, but what can i know, i`m only a "troglodyte".
Sorry to say, but these are rather cheap, unskilled labor workers who seek thier opportunityies abroad.
I'm not trying to excuse anything. My comments stand on their own.
As for unskilled workers, these aren't the 1930's anymore. The half-wits are the ones that stick around. Goes to show how much you've seen of the world.
Furthermore, stable homosexual couples are just the same as stable heterosexual couples. Children raised by homosexual couples turn out just as mentally healthy as by heterosexual couples. Likewise, there is no statistical difference between the sexuality of children raised by homosexuals and heterosexuals.
The whole "nature didn't let them procreate" argument is a load of bollux. Nature likewise didn't define a family unit, nature didn't eliminate homosexual tendencies among higher vertebrates
If i`m not wrong, the adoption of kids by homosexuals was recently introduced, it will take some time to see how works this experiment. Anyway, this is completly unnatural situation in which two males are rising a child (womans are another case).
Bullux? That`s true, like it or hate it, there are genders in nature for some reason and for another only the opposites mating leads to the procreation.
Of course there are some abberations in nature, but becouse cannot procreate, are dieing out.
So what? Poland is last bastion of Europe culture in Europe (lol) France - Africa Germany - Africa Uk - Africa

Theclowcard 1 year ago
@view587 are you speaking from your personal experiece? Cause I've lived in Czech republic for almost twenty years and I have never met anyone who would feel an animosity towards black people such as the one you're describing. In Czech republic we have problems with Romani people and there is a certain level of resentment towards them, but that's with good reasons. Romani are highly unadaptive people and our lifestyle just doesn't compare to theirs by a large shot.

Our interference generally doesn't work out!
ttimothymurphy 2 years ago
We went to war with Nazi germany... so we didnt leave them to it really.
Even if we did, are you suggesting we should have not interfeared?
Jamieishere1 2 years ago
i think we've got rather far off the topic of whether Polish parents can tell their kids it's right to be hetersexual.
ttimothymurphy 2 years ago
well the point is that you seem to agree that stopping discrimination is a good thing but you dont agree when it is homosexuality that is being discriminated against. I may be wrong but from what I can tell from the video the guy is just debating anyway, not forcing anybody to do anything.
Polish parents can tell their kids that but if their child turns out to be gay then they will feel alot more rejected by their parents. They could tell their kids it is right to be gay or straight.
Jamieishere1 2 years ago
Yes, I agree people should not be persecuted for being gay.
I am not a cultural relativist, but I think that Poland is a separate country from Britain, and they can form their own policies towards protecting their citizens. - if their human rights situation really was so appalling as you suggest (like jews in WW2) then they would not have been allowed into the EU, would they? (like TUrkey)
ttimothymurphy 2 years ago
Of course its not as extreme as WW2, but at the same time, all discrimination is wrong. So I dont think arguing against it is ever wrong.
The problem is that their policies, (if the people who make them are even prejudice/ discriminatory themselves) will be discriminatory, and born from prejudice, not from wisdom or rational debate.
Jamieishere1 2 years ago
That may indeed be the problem for Poland but it is THEIR problem. - Poland is a democracy and they are entitled to have prejudiced leaders if they want to vote for them.
It is a whole other problem for them if outside agencies come in and start telling them what to do and what to THINK.
ttimothymurphy 2 years ago
Again this is the exact same reasoning that would suggest we leave the Nazis to their genocide.
It isnt about forcing them to change so much as making them see the error of their ways I believe. Governments will always be able to persecute minorities, whilst staying in power, if they use enough propoganda to keep the general population prejudice. That doesnt make it right and pointing out how it is wrong is a good thing to do imo.

2youngbutcrazy 2 years ago
Homosexuality is not a choice... you are probably under that misconception. And it is not the case that homosexuals have heterosexual attractions. They have no attraction to the opposite gender, they only love and lust the same gender.
That is why it is just as wrong to persecute homosexuals as any other person (not only because they didnt even choose to be that way) but also because they are not harming anybody else through their existence.
Jamieishere1 2 years ago
I'm gay, but I don't agree with hate crime laws at all; the state doesn't have a right to decide what is considered hate and what isn't. A crime is a crime regardless of the victim. However, we need to combat homophobia.

Maybe we can agree on the two points that a) Poland did not actively persecute homosexuals, and that b) Poland should consider civil rights that include homosexuals, including the right to get married.

Lets make a referend about that, ok? Civil rights includes just 'civilians', considering some special groups by giving them special rights is against "equality".
mikolajoskierko 3 years ago
I am not talking about 'special' groups or about 'special' rights. That is just your imagination.
I am talking about the universal right of every citizen to get married with the partner of their choice. Why should a government want to limit that choice to 'opposite sex' partners? Governments have nothing to do with the choice of my, or your, partner. That is not 'special' at all.
Same goes for the right to get a job, serve in the military, to not be discriminated etc. etc.

mikolajoskierko 3 years ago
Marriage is not a religious institution. Religion co-opted marriage, but marriage predated religion. Marriage has always been used to grant a range of social privileges.
Marriage is a right, not a privilege. The privileges follow the right. Gays are being denied that right. But you, for the life of you, will not wrap your head around it, will you?

I don't understand your first sentence.
Yet the civil 'contract' should be for anyone, indiscriminately
mcouzijn 3 years ago
So you say that`s bad if gov allows only adults? I say that gov shouldn`t even bother about any marriage, people will do whatever they want to do and nobody cares with whom. Stupid is that gov demand everybody to pay for social privilages these couples enjoy. That`s a clear injustice, not that few other leeches cannot suck money. And yes, our gov is stupid enough to be in EU.
I`m not religious, i`m only saying what was marriage before these "bigoted" govs bothered to issue the civil one.
mikolajoskierko 3 years ago
"So you say that..." No, I did not.
"I say that..." So you are against civil marriage. Fine. The rest of Poland doesn't agree. That's democracy.
I am arguing against homo discrimination, in the case a country accepts civil marrige. That's something completely different.
What 'social privileges' of married couples do you pay for, that you wouldn't have to pay for if marriage was abandoned?
Why do you accept the billions of EU-money coming your way?
See Absurd's post about marriage.
mcouzijn 3 years ago
As far as i know nobody asked them and i`m sure that nobody will ask, the same as for the Lisbon Treaty, Iraq, defence shield etc... Democrcy?
It depends on a country, but just one example is that couples are taxed as a one, are getting some reprieves etc.
Do i have a choice? These pocket money are funny and soon PL will start to pay it back to the EU budget.
See it these couples were granted with any privillages and if there were homosexual "marriages" tolerated.
mikolajoskierko 3 years ago
Artgaul wrote: "Poland already banned gay marriage in 1997 so there is no point in a gay parade".
I'd say that if some people are denied an essential right that is granted to other people, this is obviously discriminating. With the Polish separation of church and state, the state has no grounds to deny gay people the right to marry. Specially because getting married is a human right and no one is harmed if two people from the same sex get married. So yes, there's reason for protest.
hminkema 3 years ago
Don`t listen to Artgaul, he`s wrong. Poland didn`t bnned any gy "marriages" in 1997 or whenever... simply there`s nothing like gay marriage and never was. Marriage originally ws a church sacriment, than was created its civil form also called "marriage" (misleading), which is nothing more but a civil deal between two subjects.
By any mean people of any gender can sign similar deal, they can even call thier company "marriage", they`ll just don`t get some social privilages...
mikolajoskierko 3 years ago
"they`ll just don`t get some social privilages... "
Which is inherently discriminatory. Do you not grasp that? Until homosexuals can enjoy those same rights and priveleges that heterosexuals enjoy, it is not equal.
Absurdity360 3 years ago
"Which is inherently discriminatory. "
I agree, i feel discriminated when my money from taxes are taken of me and given to somebody just for nothing. Unless some social group enjoy any privillages, it`s not "equal", but also not fair.
mikolajoskierko 3 years ago
Government taxation for socialistic programs has nothing to do with this issue. The reality stands that you're denying a fundamental right to one demographic that the opposite demographic enjoys. It's tantamount to defining voting as something only men can do.
Absurdity360 3 years ago
Oh yes it does, that`s what goes after that contract called "marriage" such a 'company' is granted a special treatment, is privillaged.
I`m not denying any rights, i`m just opposing the privillages and to your information, i think the heterosexual couple shouldn`t be as well privillaged.
I just think that the invention of cilvil "marriage" should be cancelled.

mikolajoskierko 3 years ago
The right to marry for gay couples isn't a special right any more than than it is a special right for straight couples.
Straight people can marry (with all social privileges that affords) and they can adopt children as a family unit. Gay people cannot do that. You cannot say they have the same rights as any citizen when indeed they do not.
Absurdity360 3 years ago
There can`t be any right for same-sex marriage becouse 'marriage' is a church sacriment and it doesn`t allow that. The civic "marriage" is a deal between two sides, such a deal is possible for any two (or more) adult persons. I strongly oppose such a social experiment, to let kids be adopted by two (or more) homosexual people. Nature didn`t allowed them to procreate for some reson (what a discrimination!). Note: there`s no "equality" in real life.
mikolajoskierko 3 years ago
The church has no say in a secular nation. In a secular nation, marriage is a civil contract between two consensual adults that would like to share their lives together. If you mean to say Poland is a theocracy, then it has no place in the European Union, for theocracies are not compatible with democracy.
Beyond that, marriage was co-opted, not invented, by Christianity. There have been marriages and similar unions in many different cultures and time periods preceding your religion.
Absurdity360 3 years ago
The church has something to say in its affairs, like any other organisation, and it doesn`t allow marriages to the same-sex couples.
You know that even without marriage you can "share lives together"?
You can always read about the politics in Poland if you have any doubts. "theocracies are not compatible with democracy" - proove it.
I`m not religious. If you didn`t knowed yet, christianity comes from judaism. Maybe we should consider poligamy, like in islam, it would be so "democrtic".

We can talk in my language if you prefere. I guess you hate it anyway, as everything about such "inferior" nation.
I appreciate the attention you pay to my simple person, it`s touching, but i`ll not date you.

Look, man, maybe you're just a frustrated closet gay guy that can't help but be an ass, I which case I truly feel sorry that you can't be true to yourself, but I don't swing that way.
Absurdity360 3 years ago
Nice try, at least a try of something less vulgar than your previous insults.

Vulgar? Pssh. Nothing's more vulgar than you and your regressive bigotry.
Talking to you is amusing much like a grotesque piece of performance art is amusing.

I guess you just cannot speak in another than abusive way, the only point you make is 'ad hominem', so if you`ve got nothing more to say, than don`t say nothing.

I pull a string and up goes an arm. Another string and out goes a leg.
Dance for me puppet, dance.

And the little wooden man looked up to his fleshy master, and cried, "Do I not have will of my own!?"
And the master silently shook his head.

Sorry to say, but these are rather cheap, unskilled labor workers who seek thier opportunityies abroad.
mikolajoskierko 3 years ago

Absurdity360 3 years ago
If i`m not wrong, the adoption of kids by homosexuals was recently introduced, it will take some time to see how works this experiment. Anyway, this is completly unnatural situation in which two males are rising a child (womans are another case).
Bullux? That`s true, like it or hate it, there are genders in nature for some reason and for another only the opposites mating leads to the procreation.
Of course there are some abberations in nature, but becouse cannot procreate, are dieing out.
mikolajoskierko 3 years ago
Not recently enough that some kids haven't grown up yet.
Further, you know nothing about the history of culture, or of ethology, do you?
