its unfair to judge this along side Elvis the musical ...this was a serious play about the last days of elvis life. I saw it Simon Bowman was fantastic,.....initially i thought that Martin Shaw spoke like Mr. Magoo rather than elvis but the package was fantastic....great show. not a dance in the street show but a tear in the eye
Even with all the makeup, etc. applied neither of them look anything like Elvis at all. Simon Bowman is far too skinny and Martin Shaw's huge jug like ears have not even been pasted flat.
I saw the play on stage at Birmingham Hippodrome. It was amazing. At the very end, as Elvis died, the lights went out and the auditorum was in complete darkness. A haunting voice announced "Ladies and Gentlemen Elvis Presley has left the building". The goosebumps are back..................
i noticed martin shed a tear in this...must be an elvis fan after all..

I saw thi show on stage in Sydney. As an Old Elvis Fan from way back I was absolutely gobsmacked with Martin Shaw's Portrayal.
Also loved him in A & E on UK TV. Never missed an episode, and with Michael Kitchen in it as well I was utterly in heaven every Friday night.

Greenheart,
yes this is a dream come true definitely.
And a great performance... if I had been in that audience I would have been just a puddle on a floor.....
