The designer Gilbert Adrian known as just "Adrian" was THE designer of the 1930s and 40s. He was MGM's main designer and Joan Crawford had him design many of her outfits well into her older age. He came up with the shoulder pads looks for Joan that came into fashion in the 40s. I just love this period of fashion. Wish we still dressed like that! So glamorous and ladylike!
I LOVE those 1930s fashion shows in films, great clip. Try getting the fashion show in The Women, with Crawford, Norma Shearer; even into the 50s, with MM, Betty Grable they had these shows. It makes me miss Fashion Television on vh1...
