  • the only artist that headbangs to his own music... pure

  • МОЛОДЧИНА!

  • What's the name of the second track ?

  • 2:26 THIS KIDS MIND IS BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!!!!!!

  • Going clubbing with this guy must be one of life's great experiences. That, or standing in the middle of a field full of happily confused Japanese people. Win.

  • He should be playing shows this size - and bigger - in Britain. Shambles of a country, musically.

  • Yea I ended up finding it in the related videos minutes after posting this, haha. Thanks anyways :D

  • HAHAHA i love that scratch at 1:57

    amaziiiing

  • What song is he playing :OOO??

  • @locustskater 'do you know squarepusher' from the album of the same name :)

  • @locustskater do you know squarepusher

  • @aaronsg71 dumb comment

  • how come there are so many awesome electronica musicians from the europe?

We got Four Tet,Squarepusher,Ulrich shnauss, maybe its the environment

  • @antiemo666777 It's mostly the cold, shitty weather that does it. A whole lot of talent realized by the inability to play frizzbee on the beach

  • This video is hilarious.

  • what a genius mind this man has

  • InDEED!!!

  • I love it how he dances along to his own songs while on stage, a lot of DJ's/Electronic music producers just dont seem to be withit. But you can see and hear his passion for his music and you whant a peice of that! The crowd is also awesome how they cheer along to whatever he says when they probably cant understand a word he's saying :p

  • I missed squarepusher the first time round.. He is bloody amazing. So talented. His sets are so ace. I would love to see him play live. Somone made a good comment - he's using an IBM Thinkpad. I wonder what he would use that for? I mean surely he wouldn't use Cubase any MS application to aid his live playing.. I thought Mike P, Richard James etc all used Apple & Logic live pro?? And what the hell is behind those monitors.

  • @twintron i know he uses (or used) native intruments reaktor for granular synthesis, building own patches etc.

  • @twintron No squarepusher doesnt use any DAW, he runs reaktor on the computer using algorithims he programed himself.

  • Squarepusher's the fuckin' daddy!

  • AHHH SQUAREPUSHER !!! HE IS AWESOME

  • That's some future music. I love it!

  • I love how these people are dancing !!'

    American audiences just stand still...

  • that's because a lot of americans are boring.

  • mwells219, Boring? Maybe But we rule the World as you know it today. YOU STUPID FUCK!

  • just so you know i am an american. and most people in this country are boring and would never appreciate this kind of music. and america is imploding from it's core. sort of like ancient rome.

  • @mwells219 just search for Gas Lamp Killer, he's American.

you seems not to know even your own country, or maybe it's just that your country is half a continent so you just now you're own local state reality, not what goes on in the rest of the federation.

  • @mwells219 god shut up

  • successful troll is successful!

  • and your point is? In what way do we rule the world anyway? and is our presence beneficial?

  • tell you what, get the unemployment level in this country down and fix health insurance and maybe the rest of the world would start believing it.

  • @kmaines45 yeah sure, you rule your own country, china rules it's own and so the others, if not than we'd all have your law, thanks god it's not.

you're just the most armed country out there, doesn't this tells you something about your "ruling"?

  • Try a European audience..... even better a Scandinavian audience...... They go fucking insane over stuff like this and makes it worth being on stage! The audience in the video are boring next to Europeans :)

  • @Blayros AGREED, I would have been bouncing around like a daredevil and he definitely would have never thought to say MAKE SOME NOISE!

  • I like him live better with his guitar in his hands.

  • it's a bass guitar ;)

  • He's jusing a Thinkpad!

  • 2:25 the baby seems to like it

  • Comment removed

  • joshuapickenpaugh: Then don't watch it you disgusting moron.

  • any other producers who do this style of experimental d n b.

  • aphex twin

  • Let the guy say what he thinks. This is a place for free expresion, just like square pusher freely expreses what he thinks music should be.

  • Squarepusher is just amazing. He is one of a very few master musicians who take their music seriously and have a laugh at the same time.

  • Haha, 6:51...

    "What... the..."

  • its like a live sound check

  • Your mother is like a live sound check :)

  • i shit on your fathers grave

  • Not as funny as my comment but a respectable return ;-)

  • what do you mean?

  • ???

  • 6:08 6:13 LOL!

  • I think my mind just got blown.

  • squarepusher fer dayz

  • jau

  • Every nanosecond in the set list is incredibly wicked. The video footage is excellent. Congratulations to every soul that witnessed this.

Including the guards that appeared a few times that did not look very pleased lol.

I can't imagine what's going through the baby's head while listening. Tom is enjoying it 110%

    Thanks for this upload!

  • 05:55 is amazing

  • This was how the world was made!

    Brilliant shit!!!

  • the music.

  • EXCELLENT !!!!

  • crazy motherfucker!

  • what year was this?

  • Fuji Fest 2001

  • I feel sorry above all else for his equipment; he must tear the life out of it.

Crowds of asians are funny; they dance funny. but then again, anyone dancing to pusher look funny. hard to graceful with such obliterating music.

  • sweet set by the sounds of it....love his energy on stage...nice dancing ;-)

  • fucking good

  • Kurwa mac... Jeee..

  • Amazing. Very intelligent and deep.

  • whats the name of the first song??

  • track is called. Do you know Squarepusher? It's off the album of the same name. hth!

  • this song makes my insides churn with delight

  • listening to this kind of music and this video makes me feel like im in a whole nother world. like its so different and like idk how to explain it. its this wierd feeling, this music and it being played there. its awesome.

  • genialny

  • hes so good

  • Inspiring

  • This man is a genius. I love how he cues in all the parts of the songs, its gotta take talent to write and remember all of that stuff...

  • does anyone know what his set up is?

  • an akai s1000 and a tape player

  • what does he do with the tape player? haha

  • rofl i know !

  • an s1000 and a tape player is only a small piece of his setup. wikipedia actually has a gear list, im not sure how accurate it is though. he definitely uses Reaktor 5, tb303, sh101, the list goes on. and i'm sure his Vst library is huge. and often, the bass guitar is a huge part of his live show.

  • I love IDM

  • Squarepusher es exelente, amo esta musica!

  • wich year is this ?

  • it's from 'do you know squarepusher '?

    You obviously didn't ...lol

  • Can someone give me ANY 'key words', for this tune on youtube. I wish to hear it in better quality. I have tried looking for it on youtube, but cannot find anything, except for this video.

    Please advise/help.

    Thank you.

  • the song is called "do you know squarepusher" from the album of the same name

  • the song is called do you know squarepusher

  • ... I am new to IDM (Intelligent dance Music) by the way.

    Thanks for reading.

PS: I'm glad I've found you type of guys & girls. That's because i feel comfort in knowing that people can see honesty.

I'm quite a new Youtuber & the Music that i have found on here, is absolutely fantastic.

Take care to all you readers.

  • Just been reading seabasssorg's comment about not wanting Music like this, to be commercialised. I agree with you, you know! I can recognise commercial Music, the very Milli-second it is played...when played on any type of Music radio station.

    It's a Yawn-Yawn situation.

Music like this, has so much passion put into it..& i think this I can say this with confidence, because it is underground & hard to find - yet i hear the most passionate expressions when searching for IDM on Youtube.

  • Wow! I Love this guys passion. I love seeing people react to Music with honesty & not to try & please the crowd. You can tell this Guy is passionate about the Music he creates & encourages me to warm to his style of Music - even though i do not know much about him.

  • cuz this dude owns

  • anyone know any better tracks than "do you know squaresher" or "port Rhombus" thats all i rlly like. i want more

  • The Fucking Daddy.

    =].

  • first track: 'do you know squarepusher'... i remember!

  • squarepusher at his best! witch tracks he play? some fan know?!?

  • The first part is a small excerpt from "Mutilation Colony", next comes "Do You Know Squarepusher", and the final song is "Direct to Mental".

This set is available on the "Alive in Japan" disc which comes bundled with the "Do You Know Squarepusher" LP.

  • Track: Do you know squarepusher.

    Album: Do you know squarepusher...

    Released: 2002

    Author: Tom Jenkinson...

    Enough???

  • thanks for posting this! this one is watched everyday! tha man is genious.

  • Squarepusherrrrrrr

    with

    allthedifferentsoundsofdrumandbasss

  • damnit all that comment was supposed to be a response but meh

    I LOVE SQUAREPUSHER

  • I think I could sit through an entire Squarepusher show purely on the base of the entirely fucked up faces he makes.

  • i like that little mystery rainbow machine he keeps messing around with at 1:10.

  • I think that's just the lighting reflecting off his PC screen.

  • Oh you like it do you?

How can you when you don't know what it is?

Looks like the stage lights reflecting off a piece of metal on the edge of his roadcase to me.

    -facepalm-

  • Oh you want to explain it to me do you?

looks like harhol already answered it for me if you were paying attention.

    -harder facepalm-

  • "Mystery rainbow machine" beats me doubling a reply any day. Nice try man.

  • your question is totally invalid here, since the crowd as well as the performer had something you might describe as the hell of a great fun ! geddit ?

  • I've got a question. Can anyone tell me the name of a Squarepusher track i heard once. It's beautiful and is made from tiny samples of japanese conversation.

  • Here's an honest question. Is he actually doing anything to affect the sounds he's making or is he just hitting "play" on the laptop. I understand he needs to look like he's doing something since he's in concert in all but i don't see the point in going to a show like this. P.S. I loved the 1st track, not so much the 2nd

  • good question, I too have wondered that myself with laptop dj's. Were would one draw the line? "O.K., I'm gonna bring my laptop which has all of my sequencing tracks, but I'll leave out the filter sweeps and the active stereo panning to do myself, just to keep the show interesting."...ha..

  • hes putts on the affects during and mixs it up by going from one set thats playing to another at a certain time to make sure it sinks yeah some people just set it down and throw theyre hands all over the place to look like theyre doing stuff but squarepusher actually does shit

  • well, judging by the fact that you can't spell mixEs, sYnc, "E"ffects, I'm sure you're very impressed by all of this. Oh, and the correct usage is their, unless you meant to say "wave they are hands all over.." sorry, just piss poor grammar by the people speaking the damn language is frustrating, especially since Europeans often have a better grasp, fucking sad.

  • very true durdysauwf, and might i add,

    use some commas Korny1684,

because it's very confusing to read what you are saying!

  • working on it but i dont feel it necessary to put effort to use proper grammar in making a comment on youtube so meh yall can suck on my nuts

  • zij maar vree rustig en gebruik maar wa commas

en ge kunt u eigen ballen zuigen

  • He plays bass you fuckin moron.

  • is this at coachella

  • Fuji Rock, you can get audio of the whole set on the Do You Know Squarepusher bonus disc.

  • tom is absolutely tripping out his face

  • If I had the brain of Squarepusher i don't think i'd leave my house much either. His tracks are out of this world.

  • square pusher puts the act of walking through town with a bazooka on your shoulder into a musical sense, except that bazooka is filled with love and shrooms.

  • Best comment ever.

  • The guy is seriously whacked...twisted... he's the firestarter. Obviously doesn't give a shite about anything at all except doing what he does. When he's all bilps and bleeps I couldn't care less, but when he's musical (rarely) he's amazing. God Bless him.

  • I love his music and everything, but is he doing ANYTHING live here, apart from adding a few effects now and again? Most tracks are identical to their album versions.

  • anyone know the name of the opening song? or is this improvised?

  • It's "Do You Know Squarepusher" from the self titled album.

  • the titz

  • i read somewhere that Tom doesnt leave his house much and Warp had noticed he hasnt cashed his checks for a long time and sent someone over to check n see if hes okay and it turns out he was just in his house chillin making music.

  • he was also gardening they said

  • Tom jenkinson is without doubt the best music mind of our time. I wonder what mozart, bach and all of those guys would think of his soun, the'd probably eat their hearts out!! - And I may say that Mr Richard D Dames, as good as he might be, has nothing on squarepusher.

  • ahh, i beg to differ. mr. james is just as remarkable as mr. jenkinson. but, i will say that even tho most IDM can be loosely correlated that both Aphex Twin and Squarepusher are great in their own respects, and do differ slightly in style. Both are refreshing to listen to, because they break the mold and constantly reinvent music as we know it.

but that's just me going off on a tangent again... lol.

  • you do realize the two were once roommates

  • whats the second song? the one that starts at 6:30?

  • "Direct to Mental".

It's only available live on the second disc of "Do You Know Squarepusher".

  • same kind of genius like mr aphex twin

  • the beginning song is "Do you know squarepusher?"

  • does anyone know what song this is that he plays?

  • this track is how pop music will sound in 30 years

  • nah man, people will always be to scared by this sound. It's too great for most peoples minds! "ITS TOO FAST AND IT ALL SOUNDS THE SAME AND I CANT DANCE TO IT AND I WANNA SING ALONG!"

  • Noooooooooo ='(

    I don't want that.

Pop music is Pop music and Squarepusher will still be Squarepusher.

  • Pop music just means 'popular music'. We do want Squarepusher-istic music to be popular in the future, don't we?

  • And that means people will love Squarepusher just because he's cute. =X

  • NO "we" DON'T! squarepusher is a bit underground, and I hope it will never be mainstream, cause then it will be commercial shit and stuff.. and like tifius said: it's too hard to listen for ordinary people ..

  • Yeah, just like classical music. You need to know about it to be able to understand it...

  • looks like it woulda been a fun show.. wish he toured more

  • Squarepusher is awesome! ^^
