  • This is a really nice and helpful video. I know it's a couple years old and all but I am happy I stumbled across it. Thank you!

  • Based on the current economic situation, stimulus and inflation of dollars, how does one's mortgage play into all of this? Do you think if someone has $100K of negative equity in their home it is a wise choice to "short sell" or "foreclose" and use those monthly dollars to purchase physical Gold and Silver or other tangible assets that are poised for gain? Should we continue to throw good money after bad money on our homes? I think many people would love to hear your position on this. Thanks!

  • Wonderful tip on marrying money and/or don't marry a debt anchor. ps. Stock food. It's only going up in price. Buy new blankets...lets you turn the heat down. Get nice wool one. Build new pinching penny habbits. Then weekly, go buy a silver coin or two for the save. I have over 2k within the last 5 months. I'lll do that for life now. Fuck interest, dividend...you make it up by not reporting the silver gain, barter when you buy with silver one day. ps fuck Comrad Obama!

  • My strategy: Stocked up on tons of food. That kept me from eating out...the store is in the basement! Killed Cell phone. Folks...WTF...get rid of cell phones. Cancel TV, get high speed internet and a membership to a good video store. Bring your lunch to work. Plan trips. Stock silver weekly. Back to cell phone and TV...saved me $250 a month! Before you go buy...go masterbate. ha

  • I hope you asked for you money BACK! when you walked out of those Bad Movies.

It works well. I did that a few times recently and not only did I get my money back but vouchers to see more movies.

so true as to the vehicles, drive them into the ground!

  • I worked for a mortgage bank and you would be sickened at the way people spend money. Car payments that are more than 1/2 the mortgage payment, people making 30k/year with 70k in credit debt, people buying stuff they don't need, spoiling their kids and generally living beyond their means. Not to mention waiting until they are 40 or 50 yrs old to start saving for retirement. The lack of basic financial sense in the average American family is appalling.

  • I have a 06 Tacoma too. NOT ONE PROBLEM!!! Plus I bought on last day of fiscal year. Paid $1000 under invoice.

Best time to buy a car, last days of fiscal quarters or fiscal year. They just want inventory gone!!!

  • I thought it was 5. You should check with a tax expert as wrong knowledge can be expensive. Capital improvements are deductable. You make a profit but due to investment in the business you avoid tax. Studying tax ramifications will be the most profitable time you will spend.

  • Great advice!

  • Stay away from interest payments. Too much of peoples' net incomes end up going to financial costs, and this can devastate you.

  • If they still make them, DON'T buy a toyota celica.

    This is a crappy car.

  • the penny you picked up may say "In god we trust" but its not the God of the Bible..I promise you, printed money and coins are not from God....Gold and Silver is God's money

  • but I have to buy America . Save, give, live on less than you make and be content

  • Agree with about 90 % of what you said. You need a budget, cut up the credit cards. Stay at home and eat. If you cant afford it you cant buy it. Make every dollar have a name. Pay for your cars in cash. dont lease it likes renting its hurts I know from experience . I would say silver and gold is a dumb idea its a comity. It goes up really high quick and comes down quick. If we were in a crisis a brick of gold wont get you know where. i know our cars have problems

  • In October 2008, my friends and family all made fun of me for buying a 10+ year car. They insisted to me that i should buy a new car like a "normal" person and that i was going to be very sorry.

Just like I predicted, i lost my job in october. Even with high repair costs, my 10+ year old car has 0 payments forever. Its mine. I own my car. No payments.

I landed another job in jan 2009 and parents suggested the same. Lost my job, and i'm stuck with silver bars instead of debt. LIARS!!!

  • Do you buy silver automatically? If so, then how?

  • I wouldn't buy silver automatically, because then you wont' be able to take advantage of local minimums. I'd save your local currency and buy silver on a non-periodic basis.

  • Got rid of my 20 year old Toyota truck with over 300,000 miles on it thru Cash for Clunkers. Got another Toyota Tacoma - Paid cah for both - hope to have new truck for a long time. 20 years without a car payment....woohoo.

  • A couple of recommendations:

    1. To find out where your money is going and to budget: Mint (dot) com

    2. A step better than Netflix, IMO, is the library. I don't know if this is the case everywhere, but the libraries in my area seem to have more movies than Blockbuster. I can check out 10 movies at one time(I don't, but I could) and keep them all for a week...for free.

  • A lot of tired sequels and CGI noise-fests this year.

Transformers 2 is like hitting yourself in the face with a frying pan while someone shouts in your ear for 2 hours.

    GI Joe? Oh please!

  • Exactly, cutting back on the little stuff adds up. NetSave(.com) seems pretty helpful.

  • GI Joe is a good movie.

  • BMW = Ultimate Driving Machine

I had a toyota but once you go to a bimmer you can''t go back to driving a toyota.

  • I've owned 4 BMW's. I've found BMW actually stands for: Break My Wallet

Yes, they are nice - agreed. But the total cost of ownership is not worth it IMO.

  • yep I'll agree with that it's does stand for Break My Wallet.

I use to save a lot of money when I was younger but now that I'm in my late 20s might as well enjoy some of my fruits of my labor.

We're all gonna die so might as well enjoy getting there.

Can't take my money with me and not plan on making all my kids millionaires when I die.

  • KIA makes great cars currently.

  • Toyota=QUALITY

  • Any young family hints?

  • "a modest proposal" -swift..... read that book

  • Marry well, on MANY fronts.

    GOTTA eat at home!

  • Here is what I say

    "I am cheap and laizy"

But since I am more cheap than laizy, I will do the physical work necessary to save a buck.

Get your own firewood, gardening, home renovations, fix your own stuff.

    Save money and get fit.

  • Up until the beginning of the year I lived on 28% of my income now its like 68% do to slow work..... It's killing me........

  • Inglourious Basterds was a really good movie.

  • What great advice. I think more people should be like you. Thanks!!

  • My 2005 Toyota Matrix needed a new engine at 40k so you never know.

  • One other money savings we do, is buy our furniture used.

I have found some amazing deals on furniture, many times it was brand new but less than used. Some, we got used, also. Not beds, but other furniture.

  • I am on my 4th Mazda MPV. One I took to 200,000 and two were totaled in bad accidents, but we inside were ok. Now I am on my fourth one and we got this one brand new. I plan on having it until the wheels fall off.

I had one Ford and hated it because it was a real money pit to keep on the road. I even had a Mercedes, which was my first car, but it was expensive to keep running.

Love the advise. We need to eat at home more. Working on that.

  • good plan :)

  • whats helped me save is buying gold/silver. It makes it fun. I get on ebay and spend hrs looking for bargains, Its incredibly motivating,.

  • I have a 97 Toyota Celica. Its has 160K and I beat the hell out of it. Its a soldier

  • LOL - thx for sharing

  • How often are you changing your timing belt?

Honda uses an interference motor that will get completely jacked up if you break your timing belt.

(which should be changed 40-60k miles..but can last 120k).

If it snaps, then the valves will stay in position while piston slams up into the upper cylinder.

    It turns REAL ugly.

Other than that, your Honda is a well built and engineered piece of equipment.

(BTW, most engines from every other mfg are non-interference)

  • If you want a free movie at those Redbox machines, use promo code DVDONME

It will only work 1x (but for each different CC you use to checkout).

I used to get free promo codes every week.

Now it is just once a month.

3 ATM cards=3 free movies using same code.

  • thank you so much for this information Daniel

  • Good advice. I wish my daughter could have seen this before she bought her car last year...

  • thx for the info

  • Terminator Salvation was terrible, I agree. District 9 was actually pretty good though.

As for asking your credit card company to lower your rate, that's a good idea, if you still have your job. The problem is, they'll probably ask you to verify that you make X dollars per year, and if you say no, they may look into RAISING your interest rate, capping your limit, etc. Gotta watch out for that.

If I ever meet your wife, I won't mention "garage sale".

  • Distric 9, BIG let down for me. I walked out halfway through the movie. The whole eviction notice and cat food thing killed it.

  • Wow Daniel, you walk out on movies because you disagree with the moral decisions of the characters? Come on.... :p

The movie itself was great. Yes, I hated the main character (selfish, mean, violent), but that didn't mean the movie wasn't well done. The plot was great and the action was intense.

However, the feeling of govt control and manipulation did make my hairs stand on end. Luckily the main character redeemed himself in the end. Sorry you didn't like it! Did you at least get your $ back?

  • What??? LOL The movie was so bad man, there was no helping it. I got my cash back and then saw half of GI JOE, i walked out and got my money back.

  • Avatar gives me a glimmer of hope for 2009 movies. Otherwise its been a big let down for me. T4 was the worst move i have seen in years.

  • LOL- the garage sale is touchy, just don't mention the lamp ;)

  • ...........but, you can't take it with you....?

  • Cars are not a good investment. Trucks are for work to make money, not to just drive. Im not into the asian auto's "not yet" I love my 95 Dodge ram, because I started my own business w/ it (part-time to full time) two jobs down to one right now. I put a lawnmower in it almost everday or haul mulch. Paid for itself years ago. As soon as the economy is back I want to keep my business, but find another job w/ benifits. Im thankful to just make alittle money right now to get by this Econ storm.

  • Late 1990 Honda manual transmission cars are extremely fun and fuel efficient to drive. Prelude, Civic Si, and Integra GSR are very nice used cars that have a sports car element to them.

  • Your a good man. Keep spreading the word.

  • thx for the support

  • Totally agree about "eating out" Daniel!

Generally, the food is far less nutrititous, and way overpriced! (After all, it is their business to make a PROFIT, not to "nourish" their customers!)

Moreover, it's a huge temptation for most to add a cocktail or two to the tab - big bugetary mistake.

    Lobster dinner for two @ home w/wine = $30! :)

  • lol, reminds me of back when I wasnt married, I saved the same, I saved probably about 70% of my income... was great..

Now im working to pay off all debt, and once it's all paid off I will be buying more silver and saving cash.

  • Dang :(

  • OK I have to say this. I am really tired of the stereo typing. Many, many men spend a lot of money. In my family, my husband is the spender. It has been an on going argument sience the night of our marrage. He wanted, and did, spend everything we were given that night, I wanted to save it. And what gets me, is people assume it is I who spends all our money. Why? Because of my gender. BS!

  • You are right, its total BS. Gender doesn't matter when it comes to spending.

  • If you have zero debt, what amount of silver and gold is enough? A portion of ones net worth?

  • 10-30%, mine is currently at 50% but it has been as high as 90%.

  • wow, I NEVER click on those ads.

thanks for the video! great stuff!

  • tinyurl (dot) com /mjy48j

  • Julie and Julia.. best movie I have seen in years ( I don't bother to see many any more, as they are inevitably disappointing). Of course, it may make you hungry, so split that meal BEFORE the movie! Thanks for all your vids and the great work you do for we the people!

  • Great video!!! I have planted a few fruit trees in my backyard and also Ebay is a great way to sell things out of your house.

  • 9:44 what he didnt tell you is that for doing that he not only had to bob and weave past some fists but had to get a food tester just in case the meals where a little bit poisonous

  • If you watch your pennies YOUR NICKLES AND DIMES WILL WATCH THEM SELF

  • If you defualt or go banrupt doen't it screw up your credit report?

  • Yes, but if you are overwhelmed with debt, you are already screwed.

  • @amc2525 if you cant pay your debts you will have bad credit for six years if you go bankrupted you will have bad credit for six years. This works better for people who dont own any thing. If you own some thing they take it away from you. (canada)

  • Great Advice! Thanks for making these self help vids again. The Vision is Back!

  • Daniel, great video - more like this would be appreciated! I'm totally with you on the frugality thing! My partner and I bought a lovely home 8 years ago, and vowed to pay off mortgage as quickly as possible. 7 years later, we were mortgage free, no debt at all (credit cards all zero), we own a 2006 VW, and a 2004 Saab outright (no car loans taken), and we have $100,000 in savings plus $35,000 in physical gold and silver! Not bragging - just saying anyone can do it ! Every penny DOES count! SAVE

  • ski2014

Wow! I envy you your debt free status. That must be totally awesome! I'm working toward it but I have a couple years yet to go.

  • vention. Thanks! And yes, being debt free is an amazingly wonderful feeling (quite liberating!). My husband and i have worked very hard to get there (although, I have been the driving force! I am no crazy spender, as is usually the female stereotype on these pages!) , and it's been well worth it. I watch your videos often (which I really like), and you are obviously well on the way to a similar status. Keep at it - with your great insight and attitude, you will get there sooner than you think.

  • Also turn off everything from the power plug, tv's microwaves, computers etc. They all use power 24hr/aday even when the appliances are turned off, and can save a surprising amount of electricity. If we talking about being real frugal consider a honda 110cc scooter, they run 100 or so miles on couple dollars of fuel.

  • 0urGaia

Ya those power supplies eat power. They are warm to the touch so that means it's sucking amps.

I'm on board with the scooter idea. I bought a scooter last year a few months before the big gas price spike. It was fun to fill up and commute all week for a couple bucks. I went with a 150cc though. The mileage drops to 80 but it'll go 60mph if you push it. I can almost fit a full bag of groceries under the seat and another one in my carrier box that's out over the rear wheel.

  • Yes 150cc is probably a better idea for traveling on faster roads. I'm in thailand and not game to ride on the major roads here, so 50mph works for me quite well on the back roads (got the scooter new for $1200). Yes amazing what you can carry, thai's can fit up to 4 on the one scooter, lots fun too.

  • Put 400K on my 83 Celica. replaced trans and timing chain once. Replaced clutch a couple times.

Have 96 Nissan XE Pickup 4x4 for 5 fives. Paid 8K.

120K miles replaced trans twice now. $1400 1st time

    1000 2nd time

    clutch once $1200

No more Nissans for me. Toyo all the way!

  • Have 96 Nissan XE Pickup 4x4 for 5 years.

  • All good advice. We easily save about 50 percent of our monthly income, and started with automatic deductions even before we were married and had jobs! Cut, cut, cut, no debt. In 1981, I started writing down daily everything I spent and earned. Kept that up until just a few years ago. What an education! Learned that from a hooker, BTW.

  • slobomotion

I'm doing that now. I stick every receipt into my wallet and I mean every one, and then run them through my scanner which dumps them to a pdf file. Then I note it in a spread sheet and categorize it. I throw away the junk receipts but keep the pdf since it take up no space. I can tell you everything I bought for the last 18 months. You're right, it's educational.

  • 2004 Hummer 29K miles.. is it worth the clunker rebate...

this one was made by Government motors. the tags are only $700 a year..insurance $1100 a year,

    welcome to Taxifornia USA

  • 1987 Chevy Caprice Wagon, 307cid Oldsmobile V8. Nearly 230k miles on it. Use it for the same sort of stuff someone might buy a truck for, but I get 22mpg doing 55. Runs like a swiss clock.

Main car is a 2007 Ford Focus S. The base model. 5 speed manual, crank windows, manual locks. Great car.

Used to have an '86 Acura Integra when I was 15-16. At 130 thousand miles, whole car started to fall apart.

  • Be careful when you talk to your credit card companies. They record your calls and a verbal contract is a valid contract. If you offer to pay any amount, you have just bought the whole wad.

When you make a purchase with a credit card you create the money with your signature. The bank did not give you money from their account. You also can't have a contract with 1 signature which makes your contract invalid. Don't pay them, they have to write it of after 180 days. ..Grand Am GT 151K no probs!!!

  • I couldn't agree more. In my case I'm not a wheeler dealer like you are. My people skills aren't all that great. I do have this crazy powerful mechanical ability though (I must be at least a boarderline mechanical genius), that I used to get an awesome nearly depression proof job. Even in the good times of 10 years ago, I was frugal. Now my only debts are 3800 on my mastercard (from buying that EMP proof 4wd diesel pickup (BOV) 2 months ago) and 23 thousand that's left on my mortgage.

  • You're a good role model. VV makes good points about business deductions, and you probably could do that, too. It worked well for me when I was married to a writer in NYC.

  • Ford Explorer 1987

    184 K

  • An older guy I knew told me "You can only spend your money once and it is gone forever"

At first it seemed so obvious, sure I thought but what about buying tools or future needs items?

Regardless, it is good advice. This same guy told me to never invest in something you cant afford to loose, I liken that to not putting all your eggs in one basket.

I am thinking of selling my 08 Honda Fit, love the car but I owe 8k and no job now for 7 months, I could pay it off but I thinking a used car now

  • 2001 Nissan Xterra 150,000

  • You should see the UK program "Top Gear". They got a rusted out Toyota pickup from off a farm, dumped the thing in the (salt) ocean for hours, and fished it out, dropped a camper van on top of it, even took it to the top of a tower block that was being demolished and let it fall 20+ floors along with the building when it detonated. In EVERY case with just basic tools and checks, (ie, flushing the water from the cylinders) the thing started and ran and bent up a lot, was still usable !!!

  • 1997 Honda Odyssey with 166,000 miles. We just got a paint job and took care of some rust. Did a few other things. It is paid for, and we hope to get over 200,000 miles on it.

  • I think the saying "A penny saved is a penny earned" is bull. A penny saved is more like 1.4 cents earned if you add in income tax.

I had a Ford Taurus SHO. I had a friend with me on the highway that was playing with the OEM stereo system while telling me that I should have bought a Japanese car. The CD player broke during the conversation. It was made in Japan. Fixing it cost about $150. It broke three times.

  • your setting, teaching a good example. generationally there are those lacking in this, and we all need the encouraging advice from a frugally wise couple with hard times coming down on us all that dwell on the face of the earth. occupy until i come; a friend's favorite verse. thank you daniel

  • By 2013 we will all drive Chevy Trabant made of enviromentally friendly materials certified by car czar, environment czar, and highway czar.

  • ..but will your messages clear the YouTube Comment czar?

  • brilliant and much needed for many

  • Drive good - yea also drive well because tickets are expensive. and if you dont get tickets you starve the state... can you post this list somewhere?

  • when you settle a credit card debt for less than the amount owed does that affect your credit ?

  • @bowie728

If you are having to settle a credit card debt, you're probably already in trouble, credit record wise.

The one thing anyone taking this route needs to realize is, that if a debt is forgiven the IRS considers it 'taxable income' . The lender will probably issue a 1099misc for the amount forgiven. Lousy, but likely.

  • i got my first car today, 1300, no debt, in good shape. No debt for the win.

  • Good job.

  • I owned a toyota 4 runner. Drove it to Alaska and back. Thing worked GREAT. I've also had good fortune with Corrola's as well. For a mountain/winter rat car I picked up an old saab for 500 bucks- Its got 230k and it drives like a TOP- It might be old looking but it is MINE ALL MINE. How a car is maintained has a lot to do with its performance, but good engineering always wins in the end.

  • Right On Shatteek!

  • I have an 8 year old boy. He's a very smart kid who has skipped 2 grades. BUT, he leaves every friggin light on in the whole house. Well, he gets paid in silver dimes, he's got over 120 bucks worth at 13/oz. Anyway, he loves his silver and in our house, when the light gets left on, he loses a dime. Drives him nuts. Fortunately, his learning curve is steep and he has only lost 5 dimes before his habits changed.

  • You could also go to the library to get videos for free as well.

  • many thanks vision

  • Electricity: Any appliance with a transformer and/or clock and most electronic devices draw power even while they're turned off. They're vampires!

Plug them into a power strip and switch the strip off when you're not using it (this is easier then reaching down to unplug them from the wall)...

  • If you want to know how much electricity you are wasting with wall-wart transformers or devices, then purchase a kill-a-watt. It will measure for you the usage while it is 'off'.

Also, when replacing incandescent bulbs with compact fluoro or LED, do NOT do that with rheostat dimmer switches.

You CAN get dimmers just for LED lights (really an oscillating switchbank).

    Just FYI.

  • Electrical problems suck. I bought a VW passat a few years back, power everything. Horrible car. Every once in a while you'd put the turn signal on or raise a window and it would SHUT OFF.

  • Thanks for the great ideas

    Rec "District 9"....matinee of course!

  • Thanks for all the good advice VI. Practicing poverty in anticipation of the future isn't a bad adjustment. Eat fresher foods, tho. Packaged stuff is cheap, but not healthy. Unplug unused appliances, especially ones with built-in clocks (decreased my electric bill by 25%). Dispose of your own trash (no pick-up). Be conscious of water use (no more dishwasher for me). Upgrade Internet and dump cable tv. Library has books, music and film for free. Coupon. 11 yr. old VW runs great. Bless you too!

  • Hubby was worth about 6 million.....now down to less than 2...not from us spending ( he calls me his fru-gal) but declining values on EVERYTHING. Most of his assets are in a non revokable trust, and there is no control on our part as to how it is invested. Since he is disabled, we can only hope it lasts til our demise... :-/

  • Wow! I don't know what to say...I feel like I have been cloned haha. No wonder I like your vids so much. I own a 03 Tacoma myself. Best purchase I have ever made. I agree 100% on everything you said...except the Terminator Salvation...I liked it. So I was always under the assumption you invested for money...do you also work a job?

  • As of this week I have 230,000 miles on my '97 Geo Metro! Not much to look at but phenomenal gas mileage!

  • Awesome video, Daniel. Very astute advice. I've watched it again to take notes!

  • filed my bankruptcy today actually. Income is a less than half than 2 years ago so no problem qualifying there. Car payment is $500, they are taking that anyday now, looking for used replacement. Jeez, did you make the vid for me:) Chilis and Applebee have 1 app, 2 entrees for $20, Chili's throws in dessert. Movies, free at library. Commute is 6 blocks now instead of statewide with new job.

  • If you want to know how to honestly buy a used car, shoot me a PM.

My brother bought over 20 cars last year, and I can spot rebuilds/problems quicker than him or his mechanic.

I thought about writing a guide or doing a video on what to check for (nothing to do with pricing of cars).

  • that would be great, I'm learning a bit as I look at em, main thing asking questions, looking for jerry rigging, sometimes it seems it may be better to buy from a girl than a guy, less likely to "fix it"

  • Could you please do. That would be of so much help for me. Right now I own a used 2000 dodge stratus with a little less than 160k miles and it still runs (it cost my parents about 2000 dlls) but the car has been having some problems recently and its a pain (oh and I have been cheking the oil, the filter and tire pressure).

  • got a maxima!..1999..215000 miles..just change oil and filter..it does the rest!

  • thx for sharing

  • cool video, but how many times a day do you change your shirt?? just like a woman, always changing the outfit ...

    just kidding

  • I change the shirt so that people know its a different video.

  • Dude, you should SOOOO wear a fake beard then. Also wear a straw hat.

    The VisionHaus channel.

  • lol :)

  • im frugal im cheap and evry peeny counts

    sounds like a jew

    are u ?

    just messing with you:)

    great video

  • Hey man, thanks again for the advice. You make the best videos. Anyone who makes fun of you for trying to build wealth is a fool.

  • Worst car I ever owned a 1997 Olds Bravada. Electrical trouble from day one, and the dealer wiggled out of the lemon law. Best car I ever owned, a 98 Geo Tracker 4x4. 175,000 miles on that little guy, and still going strong.

  • "1997 Olds Bravada. Electrical trouble from day one, and the dealer wiggled out of the lemon law. Best car I ever owned, a 98 Geo Tracker"

Chryslers have a horrendous track record.

The Geo Tracker is completely mfg by Suzuki.

(your model is the Sidekick--modern Chevy Tracker is a Suzuki Vitari).

Ford Ranger trucks are decent because they are Mazda pickups (rebadged).

    Mercury Tracer was Mazda 323.

So do NOT go by brand names.

Know who made it, else end up with junk.

    (Honda passport=Isuzu Rodeo)

  • In Cambodia, they drive many ex-USA Toyota Camries. The roads are really bad. The Toyotas take it.

I've got a 1000cc Diahatsu Sirion . Cheap to run. Great to park. Zippy too.

(Diahatsu is Toyota owned I think)

  • If you look at the lifestyle shift as " getting more for less" along with saving, etc. it can make it a game. I've been growing veggies for the first time in my life and wanting to learn how to can. I bought some jars cheap but cheap was still too much. I started watching Craigslist FREE section and scored on over 100 free canning jars this week- that rocks! GREAT message Daniel- Thank you for the video! I really try 2 focus on having more ( quality and/or resources ) for less and it's rewarding

  • My father owns a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis, and it has 230k miles. He hasn't changed the brakes, oil fluid, or transmission fluid in over 5 years, and it works fine, no problems. The only thing we've had to change was a tire that kept running out of air.

  • The calculus of transportation is tricky. It is basic about Assets versus Liabilities. Cars are mostly a Liability. Liabilities eat people alive. So do taxes, but that is another story. Shopping is key.

  • Yeah, Fords are like that. Once in a while you come across one that is bulletproof.

Most of the time, they're pretty crappy but I have seen and owned a few of the good ones.

Mostly, I'm a Toyota man now. Still driving a 1990 4X4 pickup with 378,000 hard, bush road kms on it.

I had a 2005 Tacoma for a while but didn't get the sense that it was as tough as the old one. Lots more plastic, and front end started to rattle at 80,000kms.

Fixed up the old one and sold the new one.

  • You can do so much

    with so little.

    And so much.

    Great Advice

    as always.

    Best to you.

  • Google "Digg Dialogg with Timothy Geithner - VV followers should participate and comment, let's tell Timothy how the alleged "fringe" feels - The Wall Street Journal and Digg have partnered to present an exclusive interview with U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner. Check it out! on Tuesday, August 25th at 8am ET/ 5am PT.

  • Daniel, I actually like you better today than I did yesterday. Heartfelt 5***** video. Thanks

  • thx :)

  • I married very well.

  • Yeah, rub it in jackass.

  • hahaha. Yeah I drew the short stick also. But it's important to not get bitter after an ugly divorce.

My wife turned into the most insane evil hose beast, but I still really admire (and envy) couples who manage to make it work and be happy. Live and learn.

  • With hyper inflation coming, Why pay off debt now. Wait until 1 gold coin can pay off the car or 4 gold coins to pay off the house.

  • We may not get to hyperinflation. A nuke could go off in NY tomorrow, ww3 could start when Israel attacks Iran. The economy may totally collapse and people could be eating each other in the streets in 6 months.

Just be prepared for anything, not just getting bargains during a hyper inflationary scenario.

  • exactly..nukes..pandemics...endless debt...just to name a few...sounds like the fall of the Roman Empire is about to happen again!

  • Sounds like a Jimmy Stewart movie.

  • This time Potter must DIE!!!

  • ROFL

  • I hope you are right about that, as Id have enough to buy my whole street, but I dont think we will see that...the elite bringing down the house of cards arent that stupid to let a few gold coins stand in their way. Again...hope Im wrong and your right.

  • Hope your not serious, gold will buy you equivalent value of food in the future that you can buy with it today, not make you super rich.

  • Only debt should be house. Walk, I have. You can. Buy used car from private owner, spot on drive by. Crawl under car, no oil, then wait three weeks, & buy cash. Eat at home from garden - only grow three veggies at once. Turn down the lights, unplug the tube and buy curly bulbs and use leds, etc Don't rent, buy $ movies (old b/w-great) and trade with friends. Always pick up pennies, cans and wire. Auto buy metals-silver,tin,copper,brass. Use cash mkts to buy/sell. let $come. Wk for fun.

  • And don't ever, ever lose touch with your dreams, have a stress induced nervous breakdown, and ask yourself "why?".

It will screw you right up. You'll never get focused again or be able to really care about anything that you used to find important.

    Trust me on this one.

  • $1000 this month is great, (that's 1 million pennies) good job, you deserve it, it says something about your video's, perhaps I will click on some ad's from time to time..

  • District 9 was a good movie. If you like scifi

  • My Mom (born 1926 -- grew up in the Depression) always had a saying on her refridgerator for as long as I can remember: "Happiness isn't getting what you want, it's wanting what you have." I think that applies very well to living within (and even below) your means and being debt-free.

  • Very wise, thanks.

  • I bank with a Credit Union out of state and have been for over a decade. They let me do whatever I want, credit status be damned. My credit status is good but ...I do what I want.

And since I refuse to pay ATM fees, there are alternatives.

The USD is what you and I are given in trade for your life energy. So, don't sell your quality of life unless the offer is unreasonably good.

The advice about a wife is the most important advice in this video, Daniel.

  • what about Korean cars ?

  • Daniel,

God not not Hong Kong dollar- it is pegged to the US dollar (at least for the next number of years); trying some other currency that will not devalue with the US dollar.

  • Thats the best part, if the dollar goes up no loss. When the dollar folds, they will decouple.

Hong Kong IMO is the next financial capital of the world.

  • Hi Daniel, Excellent advice. Debt free is the only way to LIVE. If you owe someone, someone owns you! We've been debt-free for about 10-12 years. We have a little house, drive older vehicles, don't take expensive vacations, and make good use of ebay and Craigslist both for buying and selling. Also, clearance sales: Just picked up a 15' x 42" pool for next year for $87 at the store. I buy the kids' next years clothes when they go on sale the year before. Stuff like that.

  • I just spent $11 on movie late fee's. and I Live in Costa Rica..lol

btw "two lovers' with Joaquin Phoenix was a good movie, if u like that type

    Good Video as ussual-thanx

  • If you owed 50K on your house and you had 65K in IRA's.

Would you take the money out of the bank?

Net 50K after taxes and pay off your house or buy 50K in gold and silver and not pay off your house?

    Thanks!
