I have found that goldfish and a hot cup of coffee/tea is a great way to relax and easy you mind on the trail/camping/emergency survival ... Great vid to get the ideas flowing !
i'm not trying to be a jerk but this is kind of bad. go to the dollar store. 2 bags of white rice = 6000 calories = $2. Supplement that with loads of beans, canned tuna, canned chicken, canned vegetables, or whatever else you can find, and you can easily stay at $10. The rest could be snacks or comfort food! I am a through and through dollar store prepper
gzus you should call your video "How to Get Ass Cancer in 72 hours" I think the oatmeal is the only thing without corn syrup added. Where do you shop 7-11?
Using Coupons:Oatmeal FREE , Peanut Butter $1.00 a jar , Fig Newtons $1.00 a bag , Cheese Crackers $1.25 for a multipack , Bushes Baked Beans 49 cents a can , Corn Beef and Hash 50 cents a can , Beef Rav FREE . Welchs Jam FREE after Coupon , M&M's Free, Goldfish the smaller bags 25 cents each (x 5) = 1.25, plus the extra hash 50 cents, plus an extra cracker 1.25. Plus the extra Beef Rav Free. Total: $7.24 plus tax. Of course, I use multiple coupons so I can stock up for very little!!
Go to the dollar stores or buy store brand and you'd probably have shaved 30% off the price. For one dollar you used to get 24 oz of beef stew by Armour or some company like that. Now it's down to 18 oz which is so sad that it's gone down by so much in just a year or two. But it's an awesome comfort food and you can scoop out the fat after you open the can and before you heat it if you want a lil less comfort and more health.
You didn't get much for 20 bucks .seems like you used to could get all you needed for 50 bucks but now everything is so high you can hardly get anything for a 100
Brother, I'm 40 years old and I was sicker than an old dog last week and this weekend. As I was perched on the sofa, sick and lame, gold fish made me feel better! Haha! I'm such a big baby when sick!
Quote of the video "goldfish are delicious" you're so right
What a fun exercise. I sometimes will mix up my diet to see how my body responds to different foods. Trying to simulate a scenario with food options. On rare occasions I have fasted & have done juicing. That will clean you out : ) I still have the metabolism of a squirrel so my average daily calorie intake is ridiculous. Great stuff beast!!
What a great exercise. I sometime like to try mix up what I eat & see how a feel on a rationed diet also I will fast, but that's rare. I have even done juicing for a week, that will clean you out : ) Good stuff beast!!!
If you have children to feed you would want to add can milk, dry milk or what they call "shelf milk" it comes in a cardboard box type thing and you don't have to add water and it doesn't have to be kept in the fridge till you use it, but they are small boxes anyways
Hey man. Looks good, but just as an FYI, Chef Boyardee uses MSG in their foods. If you were concerned about your MSG intake, personally, I try to monitor how much MSG I eat.
Nice job. Pretty easy prep too. Actually everything but the oatmeal could be eaten without heat. Good point on the comfort food aspect. We are very spoiled in this country by out "comfort food". I went 2 days once, just eating rice, oatmeal, jerky, dried fruit and peanut butter. Everything starts to taste like "cardboard after a while". For a "longer term scneario", I think I would substitute honey for the fig newtons or M & M's. Honey is a great source of calories.
Just proof that anyone can prep without 308's and tungsten rounds. If you needed to, I am sure you would eat Ramen-noodles and rat for a yr; though it's unnecessary as you have shown.Calories and a "square meal" if at all possible. I stock vitamins to make sure. GoldFish for the win!! Great vid.
After reading some of the posts below, I am reminded of something a biology professor said, the animals that go extinct first, are the animals that have the most limited eating habits. Those animals who adapt that what is available, outlive the animals that do not adapt.
I think this is a good video showing how to get started. Everyone needs at least 3 days of stored food. Even FEMA says that.
I divide the total calories a product has by how much it costs. I end up with the number of calories per penny. An example would be a 1 lb bag of barley that costs 89 cents would be 1,400 calories / 89 = 15.73 calories per penny. Anything that works out to over 15 calories per penny is worth considering. Sometimes when things are on sale and / or you use a coupon you might be able to get 30+ calories per penny.
i love fig newtons even the off brands the apple ones too. i like your choices except for the cornbeef hash yuk glad you are eating instead lol. i want to try to find time to video respond hopefully tomorrow. great video...
If I shop at Aldi I can get almost a weeks worth of meals for about $20. Their food is really cheap, yet good. I should try this exercise though, I have a little trouble with meal planning. Good video that gets you thinking.
Great vid with some great ideas. I definitely like the idea of peanut butter over Spam...ugh. Peanut Butter M & M's...I'd eat those the first day...:O) Great info and thanks for his link.
You have essentially made two good points: Smaller cans & I would prefer smaller cans for many a reason, unless of course you have a family to feed and they are willing to consume the entire can rather quickly.
It's not as if all strife only comes in the cold months. Small cans will permit you to keep them sealed and therefor safe, sanitary and ready for consumption up and to when needed.
Sugar is like crack, The more you eat the more you want. In addition to the more you will want to eat in general. It would be far better to go brown rice, wheat berries, and other non sugar high complex carbs. It is best to break the sugar habit now so you won't go ballistic when the time comes, because once those sugars wear off in 3 hr you will be more bitchy than a momma griz with cubs. Also technically one can get by on a 1500 cal a day diet, not easy - but we are talking survival.
I CANT BELEVE THAT LITTLE AMOUNT OF FOOD IS $40,IT SUX.CANT WAIT TILL SUMMER TIME WHEN YOU CAN GROW BINS WORTH FOR CHEAP,EVEN THO ITS ALOT OF WORK AND VERY LOW CALORIE,I GUS IT EQUALS OUT EXCEPT THE GROWN IS HEALTHY.
one thing i dont see often, is the importance of food storage "materials"... Plastic Jars, plastic bag, and cardboard packaged foods work.. but critters can destroy an entire food stock in one night... which will make a long 72hours. I'm only talking from experience.. I find best is Cans, Jars and Heavy Duty Plastic drums!
This is the best white trash christmas dinner video I ever seen.

guys id stay away from the dollar store they buy items that are about to expire from other stores,
i can get canned food at kroger for 57 cents. 32 bottles of water for 2.50, store brand cookies 1$
so for $20 you can get 32 bottles of water
2 bags of cookies
about 25 cans of food
