Great Video! I'm trying to decide but I have a Difficult choice in front of me: Fender Hot Rod III or the Blues Deluxe? I play mainly blues as a hobby but sometimes I also try some Jazz .
I have a 5D8 Twin I built and these things rock. My amp is a slight departure from original in that it uses a 6SL7 phase splitter and dual 5U4 rectifiers and the high power tweed twin power transformer. If I want a lot of power supply sag, I pull 1 5U4, or run two 5Y3's. If I want it tighter I use both 5U4's or a pair of 5AR4's. Old 5C8, 5D8 and 5E8 Twins are so cool sounding.
@WTig3r well, it's diffrent ;) I used to play a Tubeking Tweed Bassman, but prefer the Twin because it seems to be less 'hard'. It drives better playing with the band, volume wise. I also love the way the 12" combines with a Tele. Nice low's, mid's and highs. For a Strat I do prefer the 10"... but that is just my own humble opinion.
@WTig3r bassman is less loud than the twin in my opinion the 12 inch speakers have a bigger frequency spectrum than the 10 inch. they both cut trough the mix quite easy
The front pickup sounds like it is wired up with the original bassy wiring, not the modern. Or am I full of it? Beautiful sounding set up though, if I owned it I would never leave the house.
@MrSmiley1964 It really is hard to tell. The whole thing sounds very bassy. I wish people would mic their amps when they demo them. I'm sure that this sounds amazing, but their really isn't any proof judging from this video. This would be a great demo if the amp had a mic.
Thanks for doing this demo without pedals. You don't get a true feel for the guitar and amp with pedals. That neck pickup sounds a little muddy for a Tele. Do you know what kind it is? The bridge pickup is to die for.
@fyrcrack, Who needs pedals! ;) To be honest, a nice boost pedal (I like the Durham SD and Fulltone FB) does fatten' up the sound. The neck is a "normal" Voodoo TEF (Bridge a Voodoo TE50's) Live it does have the strato like ring. I like it, very versital.
@redtoploader Thanks! 1 Celestion Heritage and "a" Emminence... (?) it was black and I thought it was the Canabis. Now I use a Silver bell and a Celestion gold, for more definition and response, even better! (clips soon... ;)
Great amp Tele and player! Ya need all three. I'm looking around for demos of the old twins as I'm waiting for my Fender Custom shop 57 twin to arrive next week. If it sounds like that I'll be thrilled!

How do this amp differ in sound compared to the bassman? Fuller sound, because of the 2x12 inch speakers?
