@fortyninepages Haha that would've been me! I cleaned the window from the inside and outside just before we left the gate! The jetway was over my window during boarding so I could get to it!
i didnt even know that runway was in use! especially the way it took off! all of my times at msp my plane taxis down this runway! why dont they use it very often?
Unfortunately, as of 10/29/11, the 747 no longer flies the Tokyo-Narita route from MSP. N669US has been temporarily taken out of service while interior updating is applied, then will be shipped to DTW to fly the route. The MSP-NRT route has been taken over by a B777-200ER.
Ive tried to watch all the airplane vids here. This is by FAR the most coolest . Ya didnt jiggle or pan the camera around. What a clear view. Hope those engines get plenty of oil. That shaft was spinnin fast! Thx for post.
@maverick967 Perhaps you can help. I’m dying to fly on a 747, I have flown all large bodied aircraft except for 747 & A380. I know that Delta used to have a 747 nonstop ATL to HNL but they don’t have it anymore, they now use an Airbus on this route. Do you know of any Delta 747 that flies within the Continental U.S.? When I call Delta they tell me that they are not able to pull up where the 747’s fly to. United used to have a 747 from ORD to SFO, but they don’t have it anymore either.
@biorgymd No, Sorry. DL only flies the 747s international. I believe the shortest flight is Detroit to Amsterdam. So if you really wanted to fly on a 747 that bad. that'd be your best luck! Thanks for commenting and best of luck in your 747 journeys!
@maverick967 Thanks Maverick... I’m sad I missed the DL 747 ATL to HNL as early back as 2009. It’s funny the number of small aircraft airlines operate across county and to HNL for example like the B737. What do you think about the new 747-8? Do you think airlines will start using this on more domestic routes? Have you flown a 747-8 yet?
Nice video :) the 747 is huge. Use to be a Flight Attendant and i wish i got to actually got off the plane to see some of these places, but you have to stay on the plane, until the passengers get off and more come off, then you're flying off again:)
Awesome takeoff, man! Thanks for sharing this. I've never been aboard a Jumbo, so this is great to watch. All the wing flex and the condensation in the intakes :)
Woah, that was one long take off roll, near enough the whole length of the runway! Was it a full load on this flight and where was your destination? Awesome video and have now subscribed!
@maverick967 I wouldnt call 340 tonnes light tho... lol... It can take 396 tonnes, but i would say it is a pretty well loaded aircraft :) @TheChosenRed The long takeoff roll most likely is because of a high "flex" temp and flap 10 for takeoff... makes it use more runway... needs higher speed to with use of flap 10 than flap 20...
@iryan74656 Yep! All I have to pay for is the international taxes which is about $30 one way on this flight, Which I consider quite a nice discount from the $10,000 price tag on some of those BizElite seats!!!
@scaremengaviation He is a Captain(Pilot) on the 744. He actually started out flying Convair 580s out of MSP with Republic Airlines way back in the day! Then he went to the DC-9 as a First Officer(Co-Pilot) then a few years later he went to Captain on the DC-9. Then in 1999 he went through training on the A320 and became an FO for about a year then went to Capt. on the A320, and thennow in 2011 he became a Capt. on the 744!
So he's been flying for quite a while with Republic,Northwest,Delta!
@maverick967 Oh.. that's so cool! My friend's dad is a DL pilot on the 752/763. I was on one of flights from LAX-ATL! The feeling you get when you know who is flying the plane is so... unique.
@scaremengaviation Yes, its a lot of fun to know the Captain personally! I also walked through the whole cabin during the night with a smile on my face knowing that all these people have trusted my dad and the other crew members to take them on such a long journey.
Peddle faster...faster Dino!!
