Ahh SWEET MEMORIES! Ever hear a song that could take you back to a specific moment in your life? That's exactly what this one does for me. Heard it the other day and it hit me like the twilight Zone.....Do you remember too Toma Jones? It was a rainy night, 196in the old 49 ford. I was busing dishes you were a waitress at Brothertons Farmhouse we were both a couple of high school kids. Those fogged up windows...the pouring rain Toma, kick back and turn it up
I love the police shoot out at the end of "Blue Velvet" which features this song.I had th old 45 record of it and used to play it.It actually sound s weird to me without the scratches! a true classic.
What memories this brings. I was in the USAF at Gray AFB and Betty Inman lived in Baytown. Those Love Letters I wrote and received gave my life meaning. Alas, the separation proved to much and Betty broke our engagement. I wanted to die - and this song was constantly played at the time. I wanted to die!
Thanks for sharing this exceptional gem. It took me all the way back to junior high, when in 1962 Ms Lester came to our school and performed the song live at an assembly. I have been an admirer of her work ever since. Kudos to you!
Brings back memories for me too. Had a teacher who sang this in assemblies. Love the movie made in 1945 Love Letters.
