I have the power aid version it whistles smoothly as soon as you touch the gas to about 2000 rpm sounds like a turbo I think I like it a little better besides my 5.4 250 needs all the bottom end help it can get
@johnnyj23s it made a difference for my f150, got a noticeable difference in power, and it sounds like a powerstroke lol. been to busy flooring it to test fuel economy. But It must vary application to application
@blackhawk250. You are an idiot. Some dumb ass tried telling me that to get more hp and better mpg I had to restrict air flow. Retard. Ya no maybe to a point you start loosing hp but using a high flow intake with a TB spacer and a high flow cat-back exhaust will most defiantly won't minus hp. Maybe if he eliminated the cats and muffler and just ran straight pipe. Idiot
My xterra does it too but stock. I think it's the sound of the air going in. After you modify an engine the flow dynamics chance, and sometimes the turbulence can make an odd sound for all the nerds like me out there.
@johnnyj23s thats right, id make that ass BLEED, you'd be callin me daddy like the little bitch you are ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahaha
@blazinloud ur probably one of those dreamers that act like they have a nice muscle or big truck... and really you have a cheap ass beater that you got from grandma
the sound doesnt happen when i drive normal. just when i gun it. mpg's went up a little, but that's ONLY after i added the flowmaster exhaust and then had them all working as one (k&n,throttle body spacer, exhaust)
@johnnyj23s flowmaster exhaust has baffles in so it restricts airflow and makes it pretty loud... it restricts airflow worse then stock so ur getting worse gas milage if any... dont believe me then open up the muffles. common sense.....
@blackhawk250 most people when they think of getting aftermarket they think it's better than stock. probably true i've never cut them open before and compared.....but anyways, what type of muffler do you recommend for sound as well as performance?
@blackhawk250 Are you kidding me? Have you ever owned a vehicle with flowmaster muffer? I've owned three and they all sounded great. All benefited from better mpg and horsepower.
@texasboy2005 I do professional fabrication for offroad race vehicle, i know all there is to know. ive used almost all mufflers for toyotas from flowmaster to spintech to magnaflow and so on. flowmasters uses baffles in a 2 channel muffler for the noise, it restricts airflow in a series of tunnels with baffles to make its back pressure noise. look at a schematic of the muffler. your fuckin clueless if u honestly believe it helps your hp in any way...
@blackhawk250 You know all there is to know? That would mean you have a degree in mechanical engineering and thorough understanding of fluid dynamics. Of course you must know already that flowmaster makes several different models and even some with a straight through design. I would like to see your dyno comparisons between the mufflers you've used. By the way, you calling me "fuckin clueless" doesn't make sound like a professional of any kind.
@texasboy2005 whatever, go for it. run that FM40 and tell urself its making the needed backpressure and outlet ratio to truly gain HP out of your truck
i just ordered one this week for my 2007 5.3 so i guess i can expect the same sound.... how do u feel abt the sound? may be the sound quality in the vid but it sounds like nails on a chalkboard
@lonismo99 i kind of like the sound. its like a poor man's supercharger, but does absolutely nothing, lol. there's a video in my favorites titled "wonder what that smell was" and it's really loud there when i was playing around in snow
filmed with a potato??

if you put the tow/haul mode it makes the truck slower. the other day i did it to my 08 and it felt slower than before
ArvinCalifornia 7 months ago
@ArvinCalifornia thats because its in TOW and HAUL MODE!!! more torque less speed

im honestly not expecting any power improvement after the reviews that i've read, but what abt mpgs
lonismo99 1 year ago
@lonismo99 You should not expect to see huge power gain's. What this does is give's you some extra torque and HP off the line to about 3,000 rpm's.
