This was not January 2004. It was January 2005. Bush's re-election was on November 2, 2004 and his second inauguration was two months later on January 20, 2005. Presidential inaugurals are always exactly four years apart. Count back exactly four years from Obama's January 20, 2009 inaugural and you arrive at January 20, 2005.
