I know that for thousands of years, this continent was full of healers, medicines, gardens and the already talked about.. its a shame we have to rebuild out of this current social community. thank you for the common vision and support. we need it in a hyper local massive scale. My vision is shared.
I definitely want to be a part of something like this more than anything. I feel trapped at the moment I hate living in the city and I feel this intense pull to be closer to nature and to be a part of something better and more harmonious. I want to be somewhere where I can feel good about the energy I'm using and where there is an abundance of land to grow fresh fruit and veg plus clean air and pure fresh water.. If I could afford to move right now I would lol
Hia Leija, the Bible of intentional community is call Creating a life together from diana leafe christian!!!!
Me and my sister are planning to create one in about 5 years in the eastern-township of Quebec, and I'm working on creating a website to present different aspect of sustainability in everyday's life with video and interview.
So lets keep in touch!
By the way, I love your enthusiasm when you delivered a message! Keep going, its great!
There are many scattered across the world, Dancing rabbit is a fine example. The key words here are Permaculture and Transition Town. These systems help to build a better tomorrow today. Good luck with your search.
I like the idea but I'm more into the idea of creating a suburban homestead, on an acre or so. I'm saving like crazy to make it happen. As soon as I get a big down payment I'll buy the place, sell my paid off condo and knock the mortgage to zero. I want to add a few roommates to the mix and what we grow on the homestead will go right into the kitchen as a bonus for those who live there. I've wanted something like this for many years now.
I grew up in Ananda Village, a wonderful meditation and yoga community based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. Cite Ecologique, an ecovillage community in Quebec, would also be of interest to you. If you are on Facebook, check out the "Cooperative Communities Network."

I've been reading books by Vladimir Megre, the "The Ringing Cedars" series. I would encourage you to read it, it has a lot of forgotten information about gardening. The first book of the series is called "Anastasia".
great idea, i wish everyone thought like this .. gardening is alot of work tho and its hard to get anyone into pulling weeds lol .. im learning myself, actually eating my own produce this year, so we'll call it 'limited success' heheh .. love your vids always cheery :) ..
I,am a bit camera shy, but have been looking into intentional communities, and/or transition towns, also the dynamics of them, looking around at what has worked well and what has not, I like these ideas so far: 1) Community no larger that 50 homes or 250 people ( for towns ) 2:Self sustained both in energy and food, 3) Own currency, value based on local resource. 5) trade with other similar communities using resources only, apple for oranges etc. probably 100 other points but those are a few.
- I also do not think isolationism or cult type communities work well, people need their own identity, and individuality, an ideal community would be supportive of its members, have a great educational system, independence from external sources for energy and supplies are what will make these "seed" communities spread, people will seek them for their economy, health, security, and 100s of other reasons such as freedoms.
Hello Leija, I have a few things for you to look up on youtube. You can check out the Venus project as far as the sustainable community goes. of course the mastermind behind it is working with current technology used in the public sector. I think his plan can be greatly enhanced by hidden black project technologies discussed by Steven Greer, founder of the Orion project and Disclosure project.
Leija, I think you should go to Taos, NM and stay at the Phoenix Earthship with your loved one. Unless if you've already visited it! They do nightly rentals, I think you'd just adore the place.
A wonderful vision! The only problem is americans are too selfish to want to take part and help with the worlds problem. Its heart breaking that we live on a planet that is falling apart because people care about themselves.. If people would understand that helping others will enrich they're lives thus enriching in our lives.. If we could change the worlds perspective then we can possibly start living refreshed lives. It has to take time. People don't have time. Thats sad...
Hello Leija, I have been exploring intentional communities throughout Alberta and BC fpr the last 12 years and Just got home from 3 months at an Eco-Village in BC. My partner and I have come to the conclusion it will be just as realistic to create our own with a new group of great people. We will be tying up our loose ends in our old lives and heading into BC September 1. We will be starting with a mobile set up to explore the Salmon arm area until we find a piece of land worthy of promoting.
Still to scared about privacy stuff for a vid reply.. Anyways, My time in those horrible unhealthy packed cities is numbered in a few years. @collapsethematrix I think it's SMART, BRAVE & in our planet's best interest to do this! :) You can still live in a sustainable community and be connected to the outside world. Heck, this is my plan! I want to have a holistic healing center on the property that people can come to... and of course, I'm not just going to stay in this commune all day. I'm still going to go out into the world to teach, heal, inspire! :) And of course I'll still be connected via internet. :)
I want to live with lovely like-minded !!! We should gather money and all live together in a biiig apartment and have a biiiig organic garden (maybe in hawaii) !!! our mission should be to serve people through using our own unique talents. It could be like a healing awakening center or sth, which the people of this world needs sooo much right now !! how amazing would that be??!! but I guess the malevolent ET's won't allow that :'(...
@tokyoVENUSgirl Of course this is possible!!! Part of my vision entails creating a sustainable retreat center/ holistic healing center where people can come to heal, relax, rejuvenate, learn & awaken more to their potential as powerful, loving, beautiful, conscious co-creators, through my community's unique healing/ teaching talents/ skills! =) I will make more videos on this subject, going into more depth. We have one here in Las Vegas Nevada, someone bought an old parking lot and you can rent a space for 40.00 a month and the lady that manages the property creates the space and plants and takes care of it for you and all you have to do is show up once a week atleast to pick your crop but she will plant anything you want, they water it for you and take care of it for you.
I've lived on a few of the intentional communities. A few seem ok but you really gotta be careful because some can be very cult like. The idea is great and one way or another it is what we better do if the planet is to survive, let alone Humans.
@TheEidolon7 OH yes, I definitely know a lot can be cult-like which is why I made this video to encourage people who have a desire to start a new intentional community with other like-minds (who are not extremists) to put themselves out there on youtube, so they will attract like-minds with a similar vision. I'm certainly not an extremist, and I'm only looking to connect with others who are also... you know, balanced individuals. =)
@LeijaTurunen I'm interested too and have some skills to contribute. The hard part (for a community) is getting land and not in a place where you will be considered a terrorist for forming a community. Another problem is many become places that only the rich can afford, or there ends up being weird leadership roles, too many rules and arguments. These things need to be considered. I'm not skilled with the computer or networking, but something could start, right here, from this page...
@TheEidolon7 I mean, I'm not looking to isolate myself in some commune in the middle of nowhere. I'd still like to connect with the world, teach, heal! I just want to live in a more harmonious way, you know? :)
@LeijaTurunen I agree fully and even most existing communities are in contact with at least each other and do stuff in or even for their communities. There is a misconception that being self sustainable means living in the cave ages, lol We can have most of what we have now already, just in a cleaner way and living with the intention to heal and clean our Mother Earth would be nice.
