  • Unbielivebly good, much better than those re-dubs, sure, it isn't the real Buddy, but it's as close as it gets, and it's real.

  • I'm sure the Crickets really liked this song, which is why they released it as a single from "In Style." Of course, they also despised the dubbed apartment demos being rushed to the market just because Buddy's name was on them.

  • If Buddy Holly didn't die, I bet he would have released "Peggy Sue Got Married"in this style rather than in the style we all know and love now. The slow version we all know was actually a home-made demo of Buddy and his acoustic Guitar and a few years later other instruments were added to to the demo to make it sound professionally recorded. But given the fact that the "peggy sue got married" is the sequal to "peggy sue", I'd imagine buddy intended to record that demo like this version here.

  • Very peculiar that I've never heard this before. I was under the impression that the Crickets preferred to avoid covering Buddy's apartment tapes. Still, this song was a real gem and I'm not surprised they took a crack at it. I don't think it sounds right to me, and I'd be inclined to believe it's playing too fast. It may not be your record player, though. I've heard some recordings which were sped up intentionally, with horrible results.

  • @Agent0061958 -- Hmm. Good point about being speed up. But, the lead vocalist David Box was a little fast in his singing so that could be it too. Listen to "Iv'e Had My Moments" by David Box, and it sounds about the same speed in his singing voice.

  • That's "David Box" on vocals. A Buddy Holly sound a like who played lead with the Crickets for this song, and Dont Cha' Know. David Box released a solo called "Little Lonely Summer Girl" in 1964 sounding identical almost scary vocal wise like Buddy Holy

  • He was a big Buddy Holly fan, and grew up in Lubbock. Strange enough he was also killed in a plane crash in October 1965 while on tour after chartering a small private plane to his next gig location. Spooky ay? So this is David Box singing vocal on this song for the Crickets.

  • Thanks for sharing this rare song, however your copy looks like a boot. The way you can tell if the matrix numbers are machine stamped in the trailoff if they're not than you don't have the original. At least you have the song which is great!
