  • Shit

  • Liam Gallagher .... what a wank? should never be allowed to mention his name on The Jam posts? Oh and that cunt Noel........ don't get me started on that other Manc chunt !!

  • @DAVEYBOND007 Bellend! Liam and Noel changed music for a generation, if it wasn't for them the music scene today would be completely shite!

  • @ADAMROCKS5 Well said!

  • @TheRyanNutt Cheers man ;)

  • @ADAMROCKS5 live forever!

  • I didn't know they sang this.

  • @dahger7 they wrote is about 30 years ago.

  • for top jam fan Lana enjoy .....k.t.f.

  • how ironic that liam gallagher as named his clothes shop pretty green ....respect were it deserves to be.

  • Great tune....one of their best, and that's saying something.

  • Liam G sings this every time he cons soemeone into buying his clothes brand

  • best song in my opinion :-)

  • Great song.. I love the degraded (is that the proper term?) of the old beta/vhs tape. "it's about the music..and the tracking"

  • @eydyabass "Fookin primark" laughable, although you must be right there, Pretty Green winning 'Menswear Brand of the Year 2010' at last years drapers, must be a joke then?, It must be primark!

  • @mrskunker Also, primark, the prices most surely aren't the same haha

  • @kittenic44

Yeah, I Thought that when i first heard this, but then i heard the album version, AND FUCK, It was SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO much better than mark's.

  • @kittenic44 ronson's version is about as good as a guitar with no strings

  • @swansjack08

It's a REMIX. It's supposed to be different and tbh, I like them both equally BECAUSE they're different. Ronson's version is a great twist on the original, and if it weren't for Ronson, some of the new generation wouldn't have heard the original in the first place.

If you don't like the remix, don't listen to it. No one's forcing you to.

  • @muntedmuffin yeaa but all the new generation will hear the opening riff and lyrics and think wow i love this song by mark ronson i doubt they would've looked this one up so they won't know the difference between his and the orginal jam version.

I had to listen to it once to know what it sounds like and have an opinion of it not like i'm listening to ronsons version every day is it?

  • Weller is my God - The JAM are my band - I can listen to these tunes over and over and never tire of them - Dont make em like this anymore -

  • 1981 seems cooler then 2010, lol.

  • wish PW would play a ric on his current live dates when he's playing old Jam songs :)

  • 116,681 mods can;t be wrong...or ...can they?

  • not gd quality but wicked song :p

  • cool as fuck

  • some how it never soulds the same when one plays this and not three

  • MODS God!!!!!!!!

    SOOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @EK9LOVE You were born later, right ?

  • great band

  • yeah paul weller still does this, town called malice, thats entertainment and others... didnt he do this with liam or noel gallagher? i forget.

  • He did Thats Entertainment with Noel.

Liams clothing company is named Pretty Green after this song.

  • all my jam stuff gone in one day by a girl how ask can i just for one day never seen again please can i have sex now

  • ...its as clear as this!!

  • Power is measured by the £ or the fist !

  • I went to watch Paul Weller at Llandudno on 7-12-09, he sang 3 Jam songs, and suprisingly this was one..Great song, good to hear live after all these years! Genius

  • im a huge jam and weller fan but there were a few jam songs that werent very good- this one however is up with the best of them! and this album is a classic

  • awesome..just another jam masterpiece anthem!

  • best tune on album

    steve meredith

  • Whoever said that is an idiot. This is by no means superior to "set the house ablaze" and "scrape sway". There is no such thing as a Jam song which is worse than other. Ever heard the saying "It's all good"? The Jam invented that.

  • Almost, but nowhere close Sway is Away.

  • @daniel1982 Ever heard of the saying "it's not all good" ? people are entitled to their opinions you fruit

  • Writing a song about something does not make it true, you wank. The jam has not made a single bad song. It's all good. If your oppinion differs, i obviously don't agree with you. And if i disaggree with you, you can go to hell and suck a cock, stranger. Fuck strangers. Don't owe none shit.

  • What fucking planet are you on?

They had good songs AND bad songs.

You'd have to be mentally ill to argue that all Jam songs are brilliant.

  • Awesome live version.Very tight.

These guys and The Clash were untouchable.Still are.

  • Amen. The Clash & the Jam are both untouchable to this day! Funny how both were around for such a very short time ('77-'82 or '83) and yet both groups left behind such impressive bodies of work. I've always felt that the big egos involved i(weller & strummer) thought that they were destined for bigger things than just the sum of their groups. As it turns out, it was their finest hour. Niether weller nor strummer ever came close to topping the stuff they did while in these groups.

  • @beevapatrol My Ever Changing Moods is one of my all time favs, but as a body of work you can't really compare The Style Council to the Jam - its like comparing Big Audio Dynamite to the Clash

  • I'll agree as a body of work you are correct, not with the BAD, Clash comparison though. TSC had a fantastic body of wrok apart from some over experimental phases in their lattter days but Cafe Bleu, Our Favourite Shop, Confessions of a pop group etc were superb. Not arguing with you just mate just an opinion. Best.

  • pretty green is the liam's brand

  • liam named it AFTER this.

so technically, weller had the masterplan idea.

  • One of their best tunes.

    Great album, "Sound Affects".

  • Another Portugese slimey faggot like Ronaldo.Weres the decent Portugese music? NO WERE.

  • The jam are fucking magic.

    Timeless music

  • It's Gang of Four all over!

  • Fuck off dotsy, you're everywhere. We already got it, you think everything is shit except oasis, and even them are shit today. We don't give a crap.

  • I onced sha%%ed a girl to this song

  • Did she get a pocket full of pretty green after?

  • no,just a pocket full of white,i missed

  • HAHAHAHAA

  • The pnly album of The Jam I ever owned. Money was tight back then. I wore this album out. Great stuff.

  • Cool version of this classic. Real Sheffield influence here vis a vis Gang of Four.

  • that's exactly what I was thinking... gang of four.... what a great tiem for musical creative expression!!!

  • you are a cock. This song is 30 years old and sounds shit loads better than that modern shatt!

  • prohibit us at your peril, green war.what does prohibition make , prohibition makes profit for the pirates, eye eye smuggler.

  • be carefull loads of pretty green these days is poor, things going to get pricey for pretty green , our old bill diskike us islanders growing our own ,so we have to import afghan bar, and the afghans know its only $1.50 for your pounda, 1933 mafia 1 fed 0 turn on tune in drop out .......

  • I have a rizla full of 'pretty green' !

  • @Scribe66

    lol, same here now

  • £1 is now $1.55 one month later , pretty green, the class system has changed, not from the top unfortunatly , but all their followers just been relegated . We now have rich in the lead, followed by a distant second going to the poor, who are staying on strongly past the endebted middle class, you with us or them lol. the jam rule and they did have words tooooooooo.

  • weird arrangement.

  • the enemy take note.

  • because i thought shit loads of you as a child, what with bricks and mortar lyrics and mrs thatcher telling you to buy your house, i thought thatchers selling it as 13 year old child, black and white as a child thank fuck, not buy my council house. now the pretty green is worth sod all, $1.80 and going down, thank you mr weller, looks like london houses are going back to 40 grand lol.

  • LOL comedy! ;-)

  • i was looking for this song for a long time but i need in in girl...

  • that the one thats prduced by mark ronson

  • best cd ever

  • Is there a video for Monday??

  • there album tracks dont get spoke about but are there best music

  • Brilliant version of Pretty Green. (Giving my age away here...I remember getting up on a Saturday morning to watch this...'Get Set For Summer'was it?

    Cool.

  • look at Weller's wedge...

  • albazd: shouldn't be so obvious about being the loser that you are. Word to the wise - keep it to yourself!

  • blimey aint seen this footage in years ,correct me if im wrong but i think its

1981 and the progamme was 'saturday superstore' hosted by dj(and jam fan) mike read.!! showin me age now..saw em live in 81'bucket and spade tour'..class!!!

  • Interesting that Mike Read professed to being a Jam fan, cos like that wally tory David Cameron, Mike Read is a big fan of the Thatcher way of thinking, which is diametricaly opposed to what the Jam were all about.

  • i saw them in the usa several times, once with blue oyster cult, both groups were good but a real mismatch as the BOC fans hated the jam, they also supported the outlaws in my home city.

  • saw them live many times....PASSION....ENERGY....like the beatles came and went ,we will never see the same again, LONG LIVE THE JAM !!!!!!!

  • this is what most modern bands want to be but never will

  • You are more than correct but listen to 5 mins of joy by checking out the Tube Station cover by Jaymod69 due for release late summer endorsed by Weller. They do a fantastic Malice. The boys do diffrerent versions of the classics, leave a comment on the site if you like it?

  • Amen to that. Not to sound pessimistic or anything, but most modern bands don't have the right influences. Or any influences. More's the pity.

  • love this, love them... love weller more!

  • the doyans of live music, pure passion and energy ,superb lyrics.tight knit band, what more?

  • love the jam!!!! love the song!!!! love weller!!!!

  • anyone got a pocket full of pretty green ??

    gis a sub, im broke....lol.

still one of the greatest bands ever ( many memories ).

  • great song

  • hahahaaa i loveee this song!!!! actualy so catchy i sing it to myself all day lol!!!

  • untouchable ......the best of the best.

  • saw these live several times...... fantastic !!! the biggest legal high you can get !!!

  • Hear that power,no wonder we stopped and listened !

  • what a comment .......like it!!

  • what a great clip was is saturday morning tv

  • TOP song i forgot all about it how could i slap me with a fish lol.

  • I hum this tune at least once a day - thanks for putting this one up, fantastic version!

  • i first herd the mark ronson version and my dad sed it was the jam and i didnt believe him then i herd the jams version. million times better

  • Yes indeed. I like what Mark Ronson did with "Valerie" ( although I like the Zutons, too) but I don't know what he was thinking about when he covered Pretty Green.

  • Nah I love his version of it! At least he didn't do something with it that makes it sound similar to the original.

  • Superb... Thanks for putting this up.

  • first time i heard this was on my walkman on a tape yes a long time ago i was going thro some teenage issues and this was and still is my song LOVE THE JAM

  • song reflects me - love it! rock on jam!

  • Loved it. Long time no hear/see. One of my favorites. Miss these guys. Here they are touring here in the US, minus Weller. Kinda like cream with no coffee.

  • Fr back when the boys were the kings of the modern world outside the US, another clip fr "Get Set For Summer." Paul looks & sounds like he's having fun for once. Brilliant!

  • HOW GREAT IS THIS

  • Great version - like the intro - Thanks
