Well thank you but think about it who landed in America with the instruments back then the Irish or the Black.I simply mean that the Black slave heard the music at Irish wakes which evoked their spirit they took it,the sound and stamped their own mark on it,"when they got instruments"and made it their own,early black music was nothing like it is now brother,live in denial if you wish but my records show it to be this way sorry its too sensitive for you to grasp..
@MrJohnathon17 Read about music from West Africa (Ghana, Burkina Faso, etc). The kapala (African banjo) and other string instruments (babatoni, etc) were played in Africa before the XV century; Their music has a strong resemble to the blues (specially their working ballads). If anything, the slaves adopted the guitar from Mexicans, instead of the fiddle from the northern Europeans. Do not be that ethnocentric. Open a book, it will not bite you! Next you are going to say potatoes are from Ireland
You know you are about to listen to something really special if the great Sonny Boy is introducing the artist!! Both are fantastic, true Blues Leyends! Thanks for sharing this gem, luizoak.
@1m2a3t4t5 He is the great Sonny Boy Williamson II. A fantastic Blues harp player and singer. There is another Sonny Boy Williamson (I). He was also a great harmonica player.
He is so amazing. I think he did the guitar work in one of my favorite old blues works ever, The Risin' Sun by Texas Alexander. Does anyone know for sure if I am right?
@TheSpecialSelection I have just learnt this with my guitar teacher. I got intro down... I could tab it with a piece of paper and send it if you like? message me your email if you want it.
look at that right hand!!.... very similar to gypsy picking, relaxed, great control. And I can see where George Benson took inspiration for his own picking.
Awesome singing too.... what a great find! Thank you!
This is what "black radio" is missing with regards to music and culture. The English and EU's know it better than Black N. Americans and you don't have to be over 50 to appreciate what he did or those who maintain it today. But where is radio and television in America? Global but not local.

many folks dont know that this man invented run on.s which became standard in delta style and even piedmont styles. He basically went un acknowledged until the mid 70s when it became part of all misic theroy classes taught in this country. Now we all know about call and responce but it was the run on that led to guitar presentation of this popular method..........ok (spell check) gotta run my boss just saw I was on youtube again.....grrr
Please, someone figure a way to show this video to todays pop "artists", maybe theyll learn something about music, feeling, soul, talent etc., maybe some of this beauty will rub in, or maybe theyll be ashamed and retire and then all of us can live happily ever after.
@HaddyD Sonny Boy Williamson II he is amazing at singing and playing harmonica :D He played with Matt Guitar Murphy (Blues Brothers) and Robert Nighthawk, Elmore James too.

Actually T-Bone first recorded back in the twenties too, about the time Lonnie
was coming up, so its hard to say one came before the other. For that matter
Lonnie teamed up with Eddie Lang in 1929, so who can say who came first?
I recently heard Brian Setzer claim to be the first guitarist to lead a big band,
and I nearly bit my tongue! All the blues cats-- T-Bone, BB, Lonnie and more-
stood out at the front of the bandstand long time ago....;
