@KlabauterManiac Are you implying that triggers clean up or make someones playing more accurate? If so youre a fucking idiot who has no idea what he is talking about.
@samsoniusz Use a mesh-head kit. To get this sound on an acoustic kit, you'd need nice thick, slack bass drum head(s), drum mics and preferably trigger module(s).
@samsoniusz I have the head tuned very low, and I have a pillow in the bass drum, touching the batter head. In Logic, I'm compressing, EQ'ing, and limiting the bass drum. Basically, I'm using the compressor to give the drum more attack, and EQ to raise specific high end frequencies to make it "clicky."
@milesmetkodrums27 It's a specific technique of playing known as a blast beat, mainly used in death metal and that's how it's supposed to sound. In this blast beat, the bass drum is going double the speed of the snare, another is to have the bass drum mirror the snare and hit at the same time.
watch?v=8N15i1bKnTA for an example of perfect use of blast beats :)
The bass seemed kind of sloppy.. I'm not sure if I heard it wrong, since I still feel pretty amateur in terms of ear training, since I've only been playing for 3-4 years.

This is how it sounds when a drummer that is used to triggers plays without them.

falconer6439 2 weeks ago
@falconer6439 No. i am not implying that. i am implying that that without triggers not all the hit are as hard as the other.
KlabauterManiac 2 weeks ago
@KlabauterManiac Which could be said for absolutely any drummer.... NO ONE is perfect to that extent.

Now play it at 35 BPM. Make video of your first time doing it, too.

I find it interesting how you got that snare to ring that much with a frickin' kevlar head on it.

I feel like you shouldn't have played the snare so much because it kinda covers up the bass...
I don't think I could do any better though, so well done.

@drtazzle Ah. Makes more sense. I just thought he was showing off the bass drum. Maybe I should listen to more blast beats...
milesmetkodrums27 1 month ago
@milesmetkodrums27 Definitely! I would recommend ANYONE listen to more blast beats as that inevitably means listening to death metal at some point :P

@W11BO1 Its definitely a tad on the sloppy side. Keep in mind that I'm not triggering, so this is what's coming through the mics.
