I played while in vacation, it's waaaay better then RB or GH only the High hat is too close to the snare and it's really hard to play right.

You either never played any of both or you just don't know what you are talking about.

The pads are a hundred times better then any RB of GH pads and by far. It has great rebound and sticks are normal drum sticks. It's not my problem if you are a sissy and only use the crappy RB sticks because normal ones are too heavy.

From what I've read Konami weren't able to do Drum game for America, but Activision bought rights from someone so that they could develop Drum Hero which later became integrated into the main Guitar Hero series. You are quite correct though: Konami developed the original concept and BOTH Harmonix and Activision copied and adapted it for American audiences.

For real drummers, at they can practice without stopping. This game on the other hand requires you to know the song the first time and missing notes will cause you to lose and practicing would be pointless and waste quarters.

nice, an argument on whether being a drummer makes this game easier.............

At the beginning. Since the drummer doesn't memorize the song it WILL be hard. Add to that the fact that you have to follow the notes instead of making your own makes it more hard. Also some songs(like onihime) uses the low tom as a cymbal on some parts so more difficulty for mr. drummer to handle.

After that though it will be easier to tackle hard notes because the drummer has endurance from playing acoustic drums

Anyways, even if you're a real drummer. This game is still difficult, especially the harder stuff.(Also the way the drums set up and how the harder songs notes are)

All in all, if you are a drummer as you say. This is not a cakewalk on the real drums, may not be the HARDEST, most drummers will still find it a bit difficult.(Unless its A.DOGMA that is just bullshit not fair)

It comes to the point of knowing what buttons do what then it will be easy. Because good musicians are able to figure out the rhythm by listening to the song. If you combine this ability with watching what triggers to hit, it's a cake walk.

Not true on most drummers part, the drummer's purpose is to keep everybody in time. If the drummer goes off tempo he is useless and throws everyone off. This can be true with other instruments. Besides some songs change tempo in the middle of it. In that case, it's not the drummers fault because that's how the song goes. Drummers can avoid going off time by playing to a metronome everytime they practice. This goes for ALL instruments. Including a kazoo :P

i suppose mike you never played this game? this song is "hard" to non-drummers for its dense patterns, but to slightly more decent players, most of them would finish the song with less than 5 misses.

the harder songs that COULD post a potential "threat" would be the ones that have less dense patterns, but a lot of off beat and gay patterns, i.e. jazz songs, which actually all have lower lv-counts than this song

To everyone saying that this is not like playing real drums: it is. I play real drums in a band as well as this game, and I know a lot of the drum parts for songs on this game and they are exactly the same as when you play them for real. This is one of the few rhythm games that is truly like the real instrument which is why I love it.

Well... When you are playing a real drum set, you have open & closed hi-hat, both ride and crash instead of just one "cymbal".

You also need to take care of dynamics and stuff, plus you even have to time and measure the beats yourself.

This game is great fun, but this really isn't playing real drums...

real drums dont "need" to have certain things to be a drum set. Crash/ride cymbals are sold as crashes that can double as rides and this game will help you play for real.

It discourages playing proper rudiments. The fact that people play Timepiece Phase II with flat single stroke rolls is quite an evidence.

It tempts players not to time and measure beats entirely by themselves. A band drummer should time for his band, not in reverse.

Frankly, if stating DM is not proper drumming is an insult, such a view also insults good band drummers.
