  • Clip déjanté au possible !

  • The Residents did it better, and a full year before Devo. (nyeah! :P)

  • I fucking love the Residents.

  • This is the best version of this song.

  • What happened to the Devo version on SNL? Fred Willard introduced them.

  • send me a message about it. no really, do it. Its somewhere. but its a secret

  • I can hear Talking Heads and the Happy Mondays (W.F.L) in this. Does anybody think they were influenced by Devo?

  • Good one - the Happy Monday link is really plausible. Wrote For Luck is so stupid and monotonous in a cool way. Just watched 24 Hour Party People for the first time; bloody hell

  • 24 Party People is an in- your- face track unlike the rest of the album.

It was added on, late 1987, after Desmond got withdrawn due to Michael Jackson's Beatles- copyrighting (OblaDi OblaDa). See ya next week old buddy!

  • I think that Devo were influenced by Talking Heads... they came first on the new wave scene.

  • Thanks. Typical me getting it back to front!

  • But Devo first performed in 1973, the Talking Heads formed in 1974...

  • coppin' a feel at 1:07!!!

  • i want DEVO to cover "SHATTERED" now..........

  • Spidey - if you consider the Stones' version of "Satisfaction" one of the greatest songs ever written, you have an extremely simple mind. Though they don't cater to the "guaranteed sales" Top 40 crowd, Devo are great musicians, all of whom put their Stones counterparts to absolute shame in musical, instrumental and composing ability.

  • stop trashing devo the pown mick jagger up the butt hes an over inflated pop star jimmi on the other hand is amazing

  • Crikey.Pure genius. Makes me smile.

  • greattttt !

  • its ace .

  • I really don't think so. Have you ever watched yourself in a mirror? So... what about you?

  • You obviously don't own a mirror then, spidey. This is fucking amazing.

  • I'm not a rolling stones fan, so I always liked this version of the song better. But the best version ever is Blue Cheer's, which a lot of people also hate. I think Devo was familiar with Blue Cheer's version, because Blue Cheer was also sayindg "I can't get me no-satisfaction". Check it out if you haven't heard it.

  • Blue Cheer sucks wind. They bragged they would be better than Hendrix, but the Experience humilitated them forever.

  • Blue Cheer does kind of suck, but I still like them. Their first album is one of the most listened to things on my iPod. Doctor Please is one of the coolest songs ever. It proves you don't have to be any good to be cool.

  • I love Spazz Attack/Boojie Boy!

  • this one's better: 3hrL2COkxaA

    ;]

  • Don't worry.

  • I am a much bigger fan of this tyhan the original.

  • what did jagger think of this?

  • He laughed and he said that the Devo version is better than the original ;). The Rolling Stones fan didn't like the song, as mesmeridium said before.

  • Legendary. Anyone else have a friends who were Rolling Stones fanatics at the time? I did, and they thought this cover version was an OUTRAGE! I had tortuous fun cranking it up while they were in the car when it was played on the local FM rock station regularly. But it wasn't long until they came around to liking it - sometimes even more than the classic Stones version we all know and revere.

  • @description: devo never said jagger stole it.... they covered it...

  • They said it. You must read something about Devo.

  • actually look up stax/volt otis redding

  • Man, what a SUPER-COOL funk groove! These guys went way out of the "accepted" styles time and again, and thankfully made it so the rest of us could enjoy something besides the "guaranteed mass purchase" crap - this music is so much better, and only one of many styles Devo could pull off (maybe even invent?).

  • This is how you cover a song. Make it your own, make it fit into your time, give it your own edge, all without taking away the attitude and vibe that made you like the original version in the first place.

  • Devo no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no, i can't get me no no no no no no no no no no satisfaction yeah!

  • groovy

  • "ah-no,no-no-no, no no!"

When I first heard this back in '78 I thought these guys were freaks. Well, over time it has become one of my all time favs! Thanks for posting.

  • i really want one of the ginger masks

  • one of the best songs i heard and it's true for people who r tryna GET SUM

  • Who does their wardrobe?

  • Best version ever. I like the Stones, but DEVO is just...fucking Devo! Duty Now for the Future!

  • I think Mick Jagger said in an interview that this version was even better then the one recorded by the Stones.

  • THE BEST COVER EVER! Isn't it?

  • 53 to 55 seconds...awesome

  • coool version

  • Tells me baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby...

  • Boys in cars would always yell out the window at any punks they saw "Devo!!" because they were they only weird thing they could relate to us, at the time...

  • Awesome juxtaposition when compared to RS version. This is a completely different arrangement and a completely new song for it. Not bad for a fun college band!

  • Stones version is way better then this.

  • no satisfaction...

  • not better...different

  • crazy n amazin song...

much better than RS version :D

  • I remember seeing them do this on SNL back in the day. I'd never heard of them at that point and let me tell you; it saved my life. Fuck yes.

  • How fucking brilliant is this...I'm stuck on this one and "Mongoloid".

  • WICKED BAND.

  • ...much better.

  • KANKDERHARDEKOp

  • This is better than the original in my opinion

  • This is a true remake!!! Most other muscians copy the style of the original artist and piggyback on their creativity.

  • That dude dancing with the red hair @:50 is hilarious !

  • twisted bunch

  • They really took their song and made it their own. I'm solid, buying their debut album very soon!

  • *sold, I mean. Dur... :P

  • what is with is face, this vid gave me a head ach...

  • hahah look at that tele!

  • I literally pooped my pants.

  • Me too

but it wasn't related to this video at all

:| it's not like I have a problem or anything

sometimes I just like to poop my pants on purpose

  • when the boy sticks the fork in the toaster i ahve done that before not to long ago but with a butter knife it was funny my arm got tingly and it felt wors so i riped it out

  • kurde,dobre,dziwne,zakęcone

  • sure, when you have a bias already developed!

  • What do you mean? I'm stupid.

  • i mean you already like the rolling stones song, so you probably will never decide you like this cover better.

  • I see.

  • I always thought Devo should do a Broadway musical...THAT would be a total mind scramble man!!!!

  • BEST!

  • DEVO must cover all the Rolling Stones songs.

  • It draws me in with it's weird way of singing the lyrics.

  • The Rolling Stone's version sucks compared to this, even though this is a cover

  • Devo's version is really amazing and particular, but I really can't say that the Rolling Stone's version sucks...it's the original one!

  • For some reason I felt compelled to come up with a name for that character at 0:52. I came up with Driskel Hutchinson. Seems like a nice enough boy and all... but his behavior was a tad asshole-ish I have to say.

  • Devo thought they were peering into the future...how wrong could they be? De-Guitar music would end/be rock that ruled.

  • AH so awesome!

he taped the big muff to his guitar!

    :D

  • lol wtf 1:22

  • DEVO RULES!

  • classic song

  • That "spaz zombie guy" really makes the video. I'll bet he's still hurting from those flips.

  • That's Spaz-Attack. He appears in others Devo videos.

  • kick ass musicians

  • Wow, Haven't heard that in years. Thanks Great vid quality too.

Love the Stones but this is one of those covers that transcend the original.

  • They did make that Stones classic there own but Stones own it

  • soooooooo geil

  • idiots are those who are ignorant.

  • brilliant!

  • What the young people dont know-can't know,is how this version was a groundbreaker in its time. Kinda like Fame of the 80's.

  • what

    the

    fuck

  • So much better than the Stones' orignal.

  • Some idiots are bigger than others.

  • If you don't like them, then why the fuck did you watch them?

  • or even search for it?

  • Yeah.

    Maybe.

But Jagger and Richards said that they will never be able to do this song as good as devo did.

    So what?

  • INVERT.... thought as much. Deserves to be played in the Clubs...

  • Yeah!! You're an horrible piece of shit, spidey! Yeah!!

  • We're all DeVo!!

  • my sister had this album and i remember her listening to it when i was like 5.

  • god i love this song.

  • luv the tag still on the guitar lol

  • i love this video and song it's a Great song

  • yep...can't say i like this. i do love devo though.

  • I heard this in the film casino, and always wondered who did it, It's a really intersting version of the original.Their other stuff is a bit of an aquired taste though!

  • Rolling stones got own'd,and thats a good thing

  • Rolling stones got own'd,and that's a damn good song

  • The dude spazzing out reminds me of the Polysics video "Pretty Good". Who are very influenced by Devo.

  • My band used to cover the Stones' version - I like this one better. Now we'll learn both versions so we can mix it up. We're already doing 'Whip It' and let me tell ya - it's a crowd pleaser!

  • Yeah, that's what i'm talkin about! That's a badass cover of a well worn out song--even at the time this version came out. I'll guarantee you these guys came up with this groove while doing some frat party gig, most likely during their fourth set, well lubed up with loads of booze and coke. Being an old glam and thrash drummer from years back, we'd shred up old tunes for the audiences we catered to and they ate it up. We never really got as funky as Devo did here but now i wish we would have.

  • One of my favorite bands. I'm proud to say I got fired from a rock station in 1980 for playing Devo (and the Ramones).

BTW, Spazz Attack, the guy who does the flips, is doing a technically very good forward breakfall. He must have studied judo or aikido.

  • a great cover. if you dont dig it, you're probably too young. they were the musical guest, doing this tune, on the first saturday night live i remember watching, maybe '77 or 78? mongoloid and space junk are great songs too. drank too much boones farm listening to this and the sex pistols.

mongoloid and space junk are also

  • I don't know about too young- I might have missed the impact of Devo taking such an established and popular rock song and turning it over it's side. I was blown away when I first listened to the Clash (still one of my faves), but the abrasiveness of the Sex Pistols when it first came out will never hit that same chord with any generation after that. But don't get me wrong, I love the originality of it, I just don't like how they did it.

  • I don't think this is horrible. It's not the best and not the worst, but defintely the most original cover I have ever heard. I love the timing. Very mechanistic much like us and our desires.

  • I think this is the most original cover ever. A rock 'n' roll classic turned into something between the punk rock of the 70s and new wave...Devo is one of the greatest american band in the whole music scene...they have inspired a lot of famous groups and singers with their sound and their rock-music philosophy.

  • Good concept. Perfectly executed. Probably why Devo will be remembered as one of the best bands in history.

A lot of todays musicians can learn from these guys.

  • 1:42 makes me about piss my pants!!

  • WHAT THE HELL!?!?! XD

    I was not expecting that!

  • looooooooooooooooooool!!!!!! you suck!!!

  • What about you, little fuckin' genius?

  • This song is used to perfection in "Casino." Chaotic sequences in the film with this song as the backdrop.

  • 0:53 looks like brock!!!

  • Thats Spazz Attack.

  • casino

  • how nice and old timey-a simpler time- i remember those days......................fun

  • definitely the most original cover in the history of music thus far. I love the time signature.

  • sooooooo 80's music lol yea will i was grown up in the 90's too so i think its ooook it worth listening toooooooo!

  • Hahahahaha. He's got a Big Muff Pi attached to his guitar with duct tape.

  • Devo's original songs are unique and their covers of other songs like this one and Workin' In The Coal Mine emphasize that fact. The QuirkMeisters of New Wave.

  • I grew up in the 90's so this was a bit before my time, but I love Devo's rendition of the song. It especially makes sense if you look at the song in the context of what new wave represented.

  • The Stones were on drugs...Devo made those drugs in chemistry class.

  • haha nice

  • lol nice comment man, made me chuckle

  • Surely the most original cover ever!

  • they must have done some massive drugs to make this

  • This is the only song where I have ever said that the cover is better than an original. The video kicks a**.

  • this is all devos song mick jagger stole it for real

  • Hmmm...if I know Devo's world, I can't say this is true.

  • Maybe Devo would've thought of something like this, but when they went to Mick Jagger to get approval for the cover he said he liked it so.....

  • Devo's version is the best.Their cheap assed outfits came apart time and time again lol.

  • I really never liked this song, but now that I hear Devo`s version I`m beggining to like it more xD

  • the 80s were a strange time.

  • This song was released in 1977...Devo started in the american punk scene.

  • oops. fair nuff

  • Mark was born in 1950 and the original Rolling Stones song was written in 1965. So he's claiming he wrote that song when he was only 15

  • An interesting story behind those clothes is that Mark saw them on sale at the thrift store for $3.40 a piece and he just tucked in the shirt and threw DEVO on it, and a costume concept is born!

This is a great cover, with that Devo touch. :D

  • Realy? I thought they were suposed to be anti-radiation siuts.

  • Well, I believe they were, they may have been halloween costumes that were antiradiation suits, I just know what my ears hear.

  • Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby!

I love that part. I heard this version of the song in that Martin Scorsese movie Casino.

  • he can't be man because he does not smoke

  • the same cigarettes as me? ;)

  • he doesnt smoke cigs he smokes weed just look at the way they dress in whip it,,,, still they arent men

  • Outstanding music til today. Timeless.

  • How could you like this above the Stone?

    Argh...New Wavers..

  • Hardly new :L

Its all soo very old. But still good, I like both ones really

  • Weird! But good..

  • Irony:

How frequently the argument of "You are proof of Devo" arises in response to any and all forms of opinion other than that person.

Arrogant jerks. (not anyone in particular here)

  • They weren't new wave! That was a media label, just like grunge. Think for yourself, you are living proof that De-Evolution is real!

  • i prefer too this version

  • Devo kicks ass just like my other favorite band from that era... Oingo Boingo! :D

  • You can say it loud.

  • why do you think devo came out with a one hit wonder. no one even whips it good anymore. theyres no such thing as a succesful new wave group.

  • If you know something about rock music, you can't say that Devo are a 'one hit wonder' band.

  • God this was more fucked up then I gave it credit for.

  • i saw them in concert like a couple of weeks ago in del mar i got a guitar pick from bob 1

  • General Boy don't want no funny business in HIS car!

  • blows The Stones clear out of the fucking water
