They are the modern Russian helmets to replace the ones that were used since WW2. It's true, the Russian WW2 helmets were used until a bit after the year 2000 I believe.

yeah the M68 steel helmet is still used by russian armed forces. the helmets used today by russian SF are K6 titan helmets i think (there's also a kevlar version). they remind me a little bit of austrian ulbricht helmets which are used by european police units.

The VSS Vintorez is used as a close quarters silenced sniper rifle that fires a projectile to defeat some of the thickest body armor.

Its primary usage is for assassination and usage in cities - not for behind the lines.

The Mosin M44 has a max range of 2000m, but an effective killing range of 600m.

as you can see - he also has a VS Vintorez silenced sniper rifle. This lonely's sniper's obejctive is to get deep into the enemy territory, using his VS to eliminate any threat along the way. ANd when he get to his target - kill it with powerfull and deadly accurate mosin which can work on distances up to 1.3 km. VS and SVD are only good up to 400 and 800 m.
