I always assumed that weird noise in the middle was supposed to be sound of the last secure screw in the song's protagonist's head coming loose. Funny it was an accident. Maybe when they listened back to it in the booth there was an unconscious recognition of this possibility.
@EAZYED420 WANT A REALLY COOL MAX WEBSTER METAL EFFECT? Program the 5 coolest songs from Mutiny up my sleeves cd, Lip service, Let your man fly, The party, Waterline and Beyond the moon and adjust the pitch of your cd player to negative 8% or 10% with maximum bass and treble on your 500 watt receiver and then play. IT WILL SOUND LIKE REAL COOL BIKER METAL MAN, TRY IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Used to catch an incredible MW tribute band called UNIVERSAL JUVENILLES who opened with this track a lot in their 2nd set. Lead singer even looked identical to Kim as was the recreation of MW sound and musicianship.
Remember back in the days when you knew the words for all their songs - had seen them at least a dozen times at the seediest venues high on Montreal hash wondering why they were not the next Beatles? Pye and Kim were a power duo! What happened?
@unicronrocks r u serious? that would have been awesome! can't believe they never made it big in the States..... not alot of Americans really know about them....
Max Webster's quirkiness and bouncy, light prog sensibility saved them the fate of fellow Canadian bands of this era like Triumph and Prism ... they have aged quite well. This album in particular has stood the test of time -- this song and "In the Context of the Moon" are first rate. Sounds like Queen and Supertramp started jamming together and invited Gentle Giant along to make a few suggestions.
the album cover is a joke dude! infact all there music is a joke bro... its all about blowing are fucking heads off .... while makeing us laughfhour heads off.
The rumor I heard was that it was a ring or a coin, and it fit in so well they decided to leave it in. But what do I know? Sat under a cloud, I looked up / 'fraid to look down...
@matak99 The Ringing In The Low Bass Is Actually A Beer Cap . Kim Mitchell Said On Q107 ( A Radio Station ) He Said It Was A Beer Cap, And It Was A Complete Fluke. The Only Reason It Was Picked Up So Well Is Because It Fell Right Beside The Drum Set Microphone.
@RaNdOmmSHiZzzz Good to know, thnx! I listen to Kim weekday afternoons. heck, most who post on this page probably live within a few stone throws of each other :)
Saw Goddo open for Saga two years ago in Barrie. and head Goddo dude was humping his crotch at my girl's face. Almost punched the jackass right in his junk. Would have if I had a clear shot.
It was the third-to-last Saga gig with Michael in the band. I saw the second-to-last, as well, at Healey's Bar in Toronto. Sucks he's gone. Apparently the group has its new singer. We'll see (hear).

I hear such a "Tubes" vibe from this song. Kinda groovy with a fair bit of satire. Love it.

Seen Max over a dozen times from the Peg to Montreal in the '80s. Rush are gold. Max are kyrptonite. Let's have a cigarette.
