@kamilierikos ah, neither you can express yourself nor you know anything about what you're talking. what's more, you didn't understand what I wrote. Though Hellens are one ancient civillization, together with their language (which is extinct today) from which modern Greek language varied under heavy influence of Latin language (through Rome and then Christianity) and other (mostly Slavic) Balkan languages and naturally under influence of Turkish language and culture.
@kamilierikos During WWI, like Armenians, Greeks were also used for cheating a friend by hands of imperialism, which both are still suffering from the case, and today fell far apart from historical civillizations who had once lived on this lands of cradle of humanity. All in all you're not brought up in Turkish schools that you can tell about their education. For me I can say your English is bad as well as your History knowledge and up to date information to continue on this talk here.
@kamilierikos Omer is a loaned name from Arabic to Turkish by Islam culture; the same happened for nations who adopted Christianity that they loaned names from Latin language. Turkish alphabet has Latin fonts, not Greek. There never existed an empire as Greek Emperos throughout history. Also, even though Byzantine was widely known as an ''empire'' among western education systems, historians take is as a state which is found after Great Rome Empire fall into two as West and East Roman States.
@nykteridas well, your information is fake because there was neither Rum nor çete found when first zeybek/efe organizations appear in history. Rum çeteleri (Rum=name given for the population left after Byzantium collapsed-not only Greeks but all orthodox ppl inside Ottoman territory, çete=gang) is what is called for some rebels towards Ottoman Empire during first world war of 20th century. But first zeybeks are from at least (as far as known for today) Seljuk era of 11th-14th century.
@nykteridas did you misread it as ''zeybekis'' like zaziki (as if yogurt is invented by Greeks and homeland of cucumber and garlic is Greece) or kahves, telves, cezves, dolmades, sarmades, imambayildides... World was not built upon Greece. Even if we presume such, you Greeks are not a bit Hellen, believe it or not. Zeybeks or sometimes Zeibeks were irregular militia and guerilla fighters living in the Aegean Region of the Ottoman Empire from late 17th to early 20th centuries, generally of TURKMEN and YÖRÜK origins.
The zeybek is a form of folk music and dance peculiar to Western Anatolia in Turkey. It is named after the Zeybeks. The Greek popular dance form the Zeibekiko was originated from the Anatolian Turkish zeybek dance. İt is believed that this dance was created by zeybek warriors.

MASALCI1 1 year ago
