Sessions is a racist. He was denied a judgeship back in '86 for calling a white lawyer a "disgrace to his race" because that lawyer represented black clients. He also pointed out to Judge Sotomayor that she voted against Judge Cabranes in the New Haven case. He said that she didn't vote like Cabranes, "he is also of Puerto Rican descent". What did that have to do with anything? Just because they're both Hispanic, does that mean she's supposed to vote exactly like he does? That's a racist comment

The fact that the prominent lines of questioning so often require the appearance of reversal lends merit to non-confirmation. If you review the hearings of Scalia, Ginsburg, Thomas and Breyer, you see that the theme of confirmation questioning was entirely different, and two those were Clinton appointees questioned by Republican majorities. She will be confirmed and it will be a shame. I can think of six female judges who would be better, and two of those qualify as double minorities.

It is disconcerting that that any judges words would require so much elucidation to reverse the appearance of their intent, when the original language used seemed very clearly to state the opposite. Judges are so much more held to a standard of coherence because of the position they hold. Even more so would the imperative exist for a Supreme Court judge whose rulings will be become foundational long after explanation by the author is available (once they are deceased).

So when you read about the ice melting back and ancient people and animals being discovered, what goes through your mind. "Strict Constructionism" means that they follow the Constitution as written--they don't make law as they go along based on their own experiences or frames of reference based on sex or race--which is what Sotomayor advocates when she says that "the court is where policy (i.e. law) is made." This is dangerous to the country and erodes your freedoms as well as mine (not to mention those of generations yet to be born). Google "strict constructionism" as you don't seem to have a clue what it is.

Sessions is a racist. He was denied a judgeship back in '86 for calling a white lawyer a "disgrace to his race" because that lawyer represented black clients. He also pointed out to Judge Sotomayor that she voted against Judge Cabranes in the New Haven case. He said that she didn't vote like Cabranes, "he is also of Puerto Rican descent". What did that have to do with anything? Just because they're both Hispanic, does that mean she's supposed to vote exactly like he does? That's a racist comment
