C&C3 and Supreme Commander are the only RTS games I actually enjoyed enough to keep playing them for hours and hours straight. I haven't played a whole lot since it's hard to find good ones. I wish they would make another Supreme Commander, Supreme Commander 2 is kinda rubbish, fun but still rubbish.

@praisegugleourmaster You just pointed out what i mean. All the terrain is bland with no debris, trees, rocks, different terrain types to break it up. All the buildings look overly repetitive - Different buildings look like they are based on one bust scaled up/down in size. Also the buildings all seem to be placed in the same direction, I assume there is no feature to rotate the buildings when you place them? This doesn't help.

Pretty good list but I hated Warcraft III... the units have way too much hp and you can't control a lot of them at once... the battles are boring and your control is limited preventing big battles, only boring small-scale battles...

League of Legends is a strategy game, and it's real-time because you're not waiting for turns, you play in the same time space as every other player. Most player however probably don't know how to use strategy in LoL but it's there.

@Zargkhon You are correct in that the total war series and Dawn of War 2 are not traditional rts games.HOWEVER, you placed Star Wars: Empire at War on the list, which is also not a traditional rts and thus must be removed. You can, however, replace it with Company Of Heroes because it does have base and unit construction, even though slightly limited leaning slightly more towards strategy over construction.

@Zargkhon 99% of people wouldn't care the difference between RTS or RTT. A game is an RTS if the main gameplay involves around commanding units to be used in battle, there is no definition of RTS that dictates that it has to have resource gathering.

@that0negi Total War separates economy management and army management. Therefore it is inferior to a game like supcom FA and even to game like starcraft and CC. It might have prettier soldiers but it doesn't engage the brain nearly as much.(Rome is one of my favorite games)

In my opinion would think that many of the "classical games" might have been the greatest games in their time period, but they are outdated. For most people that I know of they would rather play Starcraft II than one, which says something. I myself also agrees. I would suggest replacing Tiberium Sun with either Tiberium Wars or Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II. They are much newer and have more realism, content, stratgies, etc.

@kionashi Don't play supreme commander for single player, it pretty much sucks. The game is amazing vs humans. Given the complexity, every game is different, and the depth of the game is measured by how far the players are willing to take it.

C&C, and SC style games focus on micro management and tactical level gameplay... Very few games get into the higher cereberal elements of strategy.

Well you got one thing right. Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance is definately #1. And always will be. Even Supreme Commander 2 cannot measure upto this standard. I think that if you combined C&C build model with the SC-FA economy and gameplay, you would have a really sweet RTS game!
