I do think these adverts are aimed at women. Advertisers think (apparently correctly) that women will be positively influenced to buy products by male-bashing. If it's true it's not just advertisers who are to blame - although if they had some ethics they might not encourage it.

I do think these adverts are aimed at women. Advertisers think (apparently correctly) that women will be positively influenced to buy products by male-bashing. If it's true it's not just advertisers who are to blame - although if they had some ethics they might not encourage it.
Not only does it sell products it encourages man-hating attitudes. But this is the same argument feminists make about the "portrayal of women" in hip-hop videos, for example.

Silently accepting misandry - (the hatred of men) as 'just how it is' makes those who witnesses it just as culpable as the actual people who commit misandry. Those who witness misandry allow it to continue by giving it a wordless pass.

This advertisement tries to imply that the man is trying to hold her back, she's trying to shake loose... he is a burden, he is a weight on her shoulders, she can manage without him, he is not necessary... it's typical format now to promote women as perfectly capable of everything while simultaneously portraying men as a hassle, a pain in the ass, an annoyance.

I see the implication as she broke up with him and he is still "attached" (literally) and she no longer cares, he *is* still hanging on, his hanging on has become cumbersome... a 'drag' as the women in the advert said. but it is also a play on words "the interest was great at first" "now it's a drag". They are not portraying "men" as annoying asses, they are showing one man hanging onto a particular woman. You can look at it and draw extremist views, but then you are guilty too.

I don't really complain about what a man thinks unless what he THINKS and SAYS is affecting the physical reality of someone else's life in a negative way, and then I look to see if there is truth in what he is saying and to what degree, I don't just "side" with anyone until I know more about the situation, and I try to think as logically as possible without letting my emotional response get in the way. I had to learn how to do that (crtitical thinking),though. Too bad more people don't learn it.

What it means, is that I don't usually associate with such people, but if I come in contact with one, I will be more likely to have a conversation about it instead of ignoring it or blowing it off. I'm not going to run out and attack anyone, that is not a motivation for me. When I say "will be" it's not because I do not see feminist hatred, it's because I usually do not come in contact with feminists. I think any extremist view is twisted, and I typically keep my distance from such people.

I honestly do not watch television, read newspapers, magazines, or allow advertisements to be a regular part of my life. I live on the essentials only, and I am not a materialist in the least. At least 90% of what I buy outside of food is used, and I recycle everything. My philosophy is that if it's not essential, it's "fluff", and I don't need fluff in my life, including fluffy ideas. I want substance.
