Hillcrest, i thought this rountine was very challenging and yet exhibited beautifully! you did a wonderful job and definitely got the placing u deserved! great job!

No offense, but I thought with just those six girls out there is looked just boring, and empty. But then again, it's probably better than those schools who just add girls on their team because the number of bodies wanted, but the girls really can't dance... it's quite sad also.
Don't make fun of Timpview...not every school is lucky enough to have an incredible drill program. Timpview is lucky to still have a drill program, unlike a lot of the other schools in their region that cut their programs. It's unfortunate that Timpview chooses to put more effort into their football program than into anything else...

hmmm. thats a good question. i'm on a drill team in hillcrest's region, and when we were at region we got this book thing with all the teams pictures. underneath all the other team pictures is said their drill teams name, and on theirs it didn't say any name.....sooo i'm thinking maybe they dont have one? not sure though.

I am very close friends with Hunters dance choreographer - Rumor has it (not from her) states that they aren't as strong this year. We shall see come a few weeks :-)
I am sure the competition this year will be as fierce as it was last year. I do not think Bingham went anywhere last year. They were as good as prior years. The other teams just stepped up the level. If Bingham is able to get their level up to Hillcrest and Hunter, then it should be fun to watch. I just hope Bingham has learned lessons on sportsmanship and will apply those lessons to this season.

I believe all of the teams check on their competition. There is nothing wrong with this unless they are doing it to copy choreography .. which Bingham has done in the past. Check out the video showing Bingham copying Hillcrest's lift choreography in military last year. I think the shame is on Bingham. Sorry, video does not lie.

The point is not who invented a lift. The point is why did Bingham suddenly add lifts to their military routine after losing to Hillcrest all year ... I think the answer is obvious. No other team last year after losing to Hillcrest added lifts to their routines. Bingham and Hillcrest will always be fierce competition to each other. Who cares about the showcase. Hillcrest never "changed" their routines to incorporate anything being done by Bingham.

Northridge had a great year. They had a very good military and dance routine. Regretfully, they had a few major mistakes at state in dance. At nationals they beat Bingham and Brighton for overall champion. Hillcrest was at a different nationals.
Yeah so I watched it... What was it? I couldn't tell it looked just like a prop routine with special costumes. Novelty isn't what it used to be that for... Brighton was always the best back in the day. Nobody could touch them.
The Hillcrest coahces had this song especially mixed for them made on the computer. There's no way to find it, and there's no way to get it unless you ask one of the drill team girls to give you the song on a CD or ask the drill coahces. :)
prettyodd456 is very close although the coaches didn't have the song made (It has been used before HD used it in 2003 and again in 2008) It was made in a home studio and is hard to get. I have the original copy from the guy who made it (No, I will not give it to anyone) but to answer your question, the song is called "Forgive Me Love" which is based around Alanis's hidden song "Your House"
hey so do you guys know if its official that there is no more prop or novelty? if so, that really sucks because at timpview, novelty was the only thing that we were good at this year. in novelty, we never placed below 4th! I like Binghams prop. I got better each time as the year progressed while Brighton's stayed the same. Bingham deserved first place in Prop at State. I am not sure If I have their prop on video .. if I do, I will try to post it.

this dance is amazing... I love their technique. Some drill teams like to take other things, and like to win that way. I am on NSHS drill team, and we had our routine completely taken from Emery High. It sucks when you work so hard and come to find out it was taken. Drill teams should come up with their own originality. GOOD JOB LADIES! It's amazing...
I thought that this dance was and still is AMAZING! Hillcrest drill always has the best showmanship and has excellent technique. I loved watching them this year and congrats to them on taking state!:D
I feel bad for lone peaks prop in 2007. They used zoom boards but couldn't use them for what they were made for because they were "too dangerous" but other teams are riding unicycles and jumping all over sets. They just looked like they were dancing with green peanuts.
hmm let me ask you something. I wonder what we're going to see from hillcrest next year..bikes maybe? since they tend to use the same prop all the time.
In 2007 they used skis and killed the competition. I do not recall any other year that Hillcrest used skis as a prop. Your comment on using the same props all of the time is getting old. I realize the comment might be your opinion, but please come up with something new to attack Hillcrest. I am sure that whatever Hillcrest does for a prop it will place in the top three at state. The first time time they used Ski's I believe was 2005 or 2006 they wore silver costumes and the ski's were pink. They used them twice, bikes twice, jump ropes twice, and balls twice.
Sorry it was 2004, The same year they reused Planet of the Apes military music. The prop routine they used at the Utah Classic was stools and hats and then at region and state they changed it to ski's. They were silver costumes with hot pink ski's
They didnt change the prop from stools to skis they just didnt want to show the skis until region so they just did that prop dance as kind of a filler.
you're right, they tend to re-use props but... I believe they've taken first in that division every year competed.. that's how you play the game. whatever to win.. welcome to HD.. i'm sure brenda, mechele, and the girls will come out with a killer performance

For anyone that thinks this was reused from 2002-2003, the song is the same but the choreography is almost comptleatly different. There are only two similarities. I do like the costumes we used in 2003 a lot better though. I wish my video was not on VHS so I could post the origional.
I watched the 2003 dvd yesterday! I really like those costumes too! my favorite part was when you grabbed your shoulder, slid your hand down and circled yourself... so original!

no one sings it... a guy created the melody adding instruments and mixed in that one phrase... he also did that famous dance song "god's breath".. it's hard to find the actual version of "forgive me love"... a few dancers in utah have the phony copy but this is the real thing (only cut).. these coaches have great connections.. it's one of the most played songs on my ipod haha oh wow
What teams in california are you talking about? I would like to see their youtube videos to compare. Are you from Centennial in Boise Idaho? They have a nice team that came down to Utah to compete this year at one of the competitions. A Utah team has not yet lost at a National Competition to a non-Utah team ... at least not in the last three years that I am aware of.
There are some CA team that are better. You may not see them at the Nationals you guys went to (Floria?). Most CA teams compete at Nationals in CA like USA Natioanls or MDD USA. I haven't seen any Utah teams winning Jazz at our nationals but definitly Miliary . Some good CA teams for Jazz include Sagus, Valencia, Alhambra, Aliso Niguel, Esperanza, and Troy.
Utah and California judges want and require different things... Utah is more heavy on rules and limitations. Judges here don't accept dramatics or more lyrical type dance songs (no matter how great the technique of the team) so for you to say you've seen "better", it kind of doesn't make sense because with the rules set for utah in this specific year... this was the best. in a way I agree with you though, I enjoy more artistic choreography from cali.
That's true because in CA the dramatics type songs falls under the Lyrical category. You guys have good skills but the music that was used seemed to slow for a fast paced routine. In CA this might fall under the Dance/Drill category because it looks Half Jazz and Half Miltiary or Open category.
Your right.. It is somewhat military based.. that's because the judges are from the freakin 80's and can't understand artistic choreography so it has to be clean clean CLEAN!! haha old hags

The Hillcrest coahces had this song especially mixed for them made on the computer. There's no way to find it, and there's no way to get it unless you ask one of the drill team girls to give you the song on a CD or ask the drill coahces. :)

prettyodd456 is very close although the coaches didn't have the song made (It has been used before HD used it in 2003 and again in 2008) It was made in a home studio and is hard to get. I have the original copy from the guy who made it (No, I will not give it to anyone) but to answer your question, the song is called "Forgive Me Love" which is based around Alanis's hidden song "Your House"

hey so do you guys know if its official that there is no more prop or novelty? if so, that really sucks because at timpview, novelty was the only thing that we were good at this year. in novelty, we never placed below 4th! (thats pretty amazing for us now a days) oh btw, you guys are AMAZING!!!!!!! i will always aspire to make my team as good as hillcrest's. great job!

I like Binghams prop. I got better each time as the year progressed while Brighton's stayed the same. Bingham deserved first place in Prop at State. I am not sure If I have their prop on video .. if I do, I will try to post it.

this dance is amazing... I love their technique. Some drill teams like to take other things, and like to win that way. I am on NSHS drill team, and we had our routine completely taken from Emery High. It sucks when you work so hard and come to find out it was taken. Drill teams should come up with their own originality. GOOD JOB LADIES! It's amazing...

I thought that this dance was and still is AMAZING! Hillcrest drill always has the best showmanship and has excellent technique. I loved watching them this year and congrats to them on taking state!:D

I feel bad for lone peaks prop in 2007. They used zoom boards but couldn't use them for what they were made for because they were "too dangerous" but other teams are riding unicycles and jumping all over sets. They just looked like they were dancing with green peanuts.

hmm let me ask you something. I wonder what we're going to see from hillcrest next year..bikes maybe? since they tend to use the same prop all the time.

In 2007 they used skis and killed the competition. I do not recall any other year that Hillcrest used skis as a prop. Your comment on using the same props all of the time is getting old. I realize the comment might be your opinion, but please come up with something new to attack Hillcrest. I am sure that whatever Hillcrest does for a prop it will place in the top three at state. Good luck to all of the teams next year.

The first time time they used Ski's I believe was 2005 or 2006 they wore silver costumes and the ski's were pink. They used them twice, bikes twice, jump ropes twice, and balls twice.

Hillcrest did not use skis in 2005 or 2006.

The skis were first used in 2004. Bikes were used in 2001 and 2003.

oh and in 2005 they used those big Us and they have never been used before. They put the balls with them to add a little bit more to the routine.

Sorry it was 2004, The same year they reused Planet of the Apes military music. The prop routine they used at the Utah Classic was stools and hats and then at region and state they changed it to ski's. They were silver costumes with hot pink ski's

They didnt change the prop from stools to skis they just didnt want to show the skis until region so they just did that prop dance as kind of a filler.

you're right, they tend to re-use props but... I believe they've taken first in that division every year competed.. that's how you play the game. whatever to win.. welcome to HD.. i'm sure brenda, mechele, and the girls will come out with a killer performance

i like their costumes, i think they stood out because i think most of the other teams wore dresses...just my opinion though.

For anyone that thinks this was reused from 2002-2003, the song is the same but the choreography is almost comptleatly different. There are only two similarities. I do like the costumes we used in 2003 a lot better though. I wish my video was not on VHS so I could post the origional.

I watched the 2003 dvd yesterday! I really like those costumes too! my favorite part was when you grabbed your shoulder, slid your hand down and circled yourself... so original!

no one sings it... a guy created the melody adding instruments and mixed in that one phrase... he also did that famous dance song "god's breath".. it's hard to find the actual version of "forgive me love"... a few dancers in utah have the phony copy but this is the real thing (only cut).. these coaches have great connections.. it's one of the most played songs on my ipod haha oh wow

What teams in california are you talking about? I would like to see their youtube videos to compare. Are you from Centennial in Boise Idaho? They have a nice team that came down to Utah to compete this year at one of the competitions. A Utah team has not yet lost at a National Competition to a non-Utah team ... at least not in the last three years that I am aware of.

There are some CA team that are better. You may not see them at the Nationals you guys went to (Floria?). Most CA teams compete at Nationals in CA like USA Natioanls or MDD USA. I haven't seen any Utah teams winning Jazz at our nationals but definitly Miliary . Some good CA teams for Jazz include Sagus, Valencia, Alhambra, Aliso Niguel, Esperanza, and Troy.

Utah and California judges want and require different things... Utah is more heavy on rules and limitations. Judges here don't accept dramatics or more lyrical type dance songs (no matter how great the technique of the team) so for you to say you've seen "better", it kind of doesn't make sense because with the rules set for utah in this specific year... this was the best. in a way I agree with you though, I enjoy more artistic choreography from cali.

That's true because in CA the dramatics type songs falls under the Lyrical category. You guys have good skills but the music that was used seemed to slow for a fast paced routine. In CA this might fall under the Dance/Drill category because it looks Half Jazz and Half Miltiary or Open category.

Your right.. It is somewhat military based.. that's because the judges are from the freakin 80's and can't understand artistic choreography so it has to be clean clean CLEAN!! haha old hags
