@gshdrums Not terribly much gain, about 20rwhp. Although, by design these cams will not give you major gains like other NSR cams. For example, the FRPP Hotrods, or Brenspeed's Detroit Rocker cams will yield better HP gains. But they won't have the same lope as Thumprs. Only way to have the best of both worlds is the get a real heavy lift cam, that requires a spring change. Tune the heads to match, and your could squeeze 400rwhp NA on your car. But your talking $2000 in labor alone for that route
@djclay77 Yeh labor is the killer. I have a 342ci Windsor it is a hand built motor from Ford Australia. 360hp from the factory. It has a nice cam but want something a bit rougher and wanna get up to 400hp at the motor and then just leave it.
@gshdrums well if the motor is already out of the car already, then its no big deal. I did hear on the 3v 4.6, there is one tool in the galaxy that can do a spring change while in the car. But it still costs something ridiculous. Idk, compared to the FRPP and Brenspeed cams, and other NSR cams, the Thumprs definitely offer the heaviest lope in a NSA cam. Cost + labor will fetch abour $1k - 1300
@djclay77 It's all in the tune man. I have the same cams with the JLT 110 intake and CMDP with o/r h and made 348 rwhp/ 332 rwtq. That was 80 over baseline with just cams and intake. I think these cams actually make pretty damn good power. About to throw mac longtubes with o/r prochamber on and see if i can hit 375-380 rwhp.
Hey i got these same cams in my 07gt with just an intake an spintech axle back....sounds awesome an people always give me compliments about my "beast" lol but it freaks me out cuz sumtimes i hear a little rattle when im idleing an it freaks me out...wonderin if you might kno about it? Ill try an get sum vids up
@jmesohigh Could be any number of things. I have more than a few rattles in my car at idle. One of them for sure is my throw out bearing. If your car is a manual, while idling, push the clutch in, that should relieve the throw out bearing, if the rattling stops, that's it. Normally that rattle occurs when the clutch is not engage. But yeah, try a video of it and maybe its something different all together.
@GLoomis11....Pretty much. It uses your stock hardware, stock springs, guides & retainers. COMP recommends on using their cam phase limiters with these. Some installation shops will say its completely unnecessary, others won't install the cams without the limiters. IMHO, for the extra $300 installed, its cheap insurance. Guaranteeing you wont have a valve-to-piston contact. And yes, you will need a retune as well with these cams.
@djclay77 Also should note, that the phase limiters will rob you about 5-10rwhp. But most people fail to consider why they're getting cams. If you want sound and don't care as much about pwr, then these are among the best. If you want pwr and stock like driveability, then HotRods or DetroitRockers are better suited for that. But they don't sound the same.
@justaworkinstiff Ty. I have 17x9 chrome bullets from RevWheels. They are a 36mm offset, so they sit flush with outer edge of the wheelwell. My tires are Falken Ziex S/TZ-01 on front & back. Rears are 275/50/17 and the fronts are 250/50/17. I like the bigger sidewall of the 275/50 profile. Just personal opinion, but I think it looks better than low profile tires. Also my springs, Roush springs in the rear. Stock fronts. I didn't measure, but I think it dropped the rear about 2in
@fetamobile96 Since its not a common size, there are only three brands that make this size currently. Nitto NT 450, Falken Ziex S/TZ01 "the ones I have", and M&H Racemasters "Drag Radials". I got mine from Discount Tire. Wet traction is pretty decent. Dry traction, meh, is so-so. I have a hard time hooking up from a dead stop with my 4.10 gears. If I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten the M&H. Superrior dry traction when you compare. And I only put 3-4k on my car a year anyway.
@fetamobile96 Also I forgot to mention, yes they are all seasons. But they are directional too. So if you run a staggered setup like mine, tire rotation doesn't apply
@justaworkinstiff I dunno. I don't think these cams are the best profile to work with a SuperCharger. I mean they will work, just there are better cams for that type of setup. While COMP doesn't classify these as Stage 1, 2, or 3, they go by names. There is the Thumpr, Mutha Thumpr, and Big Mutha Thumpr. Mine are just the regular Thumpr cams. I picked these cause other two, while technically more aggressive, the idle was faster. I like the big slower lope of these cams vs. the competition.
@tmitchell6 Thank you. Its about to undergo a new exhaust project. It will be a custom job using Classic Chambered Powersticks welded up underneath the car. IF I'm not happy with it, I'll simply bolt my old system back in. But I think this new one will be the best I've had yet.... stay tuned.
@kolberg17 Think so? I like both. My only concern with the flows is they don't have enough definition/tone at low rpms. You can slightly hear it "or lack of" in this vid. I dunno, maybe its been too many years since I spent money on the car and I'm making excuses.....lol
@stangcrazygirl Thank you. Sadly the car has to get some comestic work done to it this winter. Repaint the bumper, fill in the stone chips in the hood, stuff like that. I'm even thinking of going back to the MAC mufflers. I think they sound better than flows, which you can the MACs on my other video. But they certainly louder.
@stangcrazygirl Ty stangcrazygirl. I've dumped a lot of money into this car. And its nice to receive such compliments. Although listening to yours, kind of makes me miss my MACs. You have a very nice looking stang yourself. Black is timeless...
Thank you. Well it's bark is much more than it's bite. Its pulling 320rwhp/315rwtq. Which for a full bolt-on NA setup, this is about par with what you'd expect. I just like going to car shows and people ask "what the hell do you have in there", and when I say just the stock motor they call b.s. Its quite fun.
Yeah I bet it does. I just installed the cams last week. They hit a lot harder than what I thought they would. I didn't think the whole car would shake!! Its gonna be hard for me not to get one of those shaker hoods! But dang they ain't cheap!!
Yeah the shaker does a nice little dance while at idle. That was a accidental benefit of the cams. Had no idea it was going to do that, but oooooh do i love it!
Thank you. I've listened to what seemed like 100s of clips and none of them did them any justice. You think it sounds good here, should hear it in person... Ty for the compliment again
Very characteristic sound. A Ford Mustang have to sound like this. Your car is a very good instance for every Mustang owners.
