  • Love the Battle Beyond the Stars theme by James Horner...Awesome!

  • Im not feelin the LOTR music..

  • you should of filmed it warping directly from dry dock lol

  • that would be cool if this video was a

tv series , the enterprise A is still my favorite ship

  • It like it.

  • Wasn't Lexington destroyed in the TOS episode "The Ultimate Computer".

  • Loved it. The battle beyond the star music sounded just right for it.

Anyone else but me still prefer this ship design to the newer one we seen this may? :)

  • castellan, you cant get anything past nerds like us , man. Battle Beyond the Stars music

  • Obviously unfinished... but there are several details about this I adore... the title card was very 70's trek, but distinct and quite awesome; definitely liked the computer voiceover during the green screen, too... clever!

  • If i recall when Star Trek the original series was being made they took a small model and just tried to take good shots with a 9 inch long model.

  • That was a little bit... uneventful. Nice model, though it lacks a sense of scale, but it was no great shakes in animation or editing.

But a good effort for a beginning.

  • why 1709

  • That's her canon registry number. See the remastered TOS episode "The Ultimate Computer".

  • It might be the canon registry number, but I dont think the USS Lexington underwent a constitution refit, and all connie refits had a blue deflector dish afaik

  • The deflector dish changes color depending on it's setting. For low sub-light speeds, it's essentially charged but not fully active, and glows a dull orange. Blue is its high power setting, used for high impulse and warp speeds.

  • I totally remember Battle Beyond the Stars also.

  • "The adventures of the Lexington are just beginning."

Heh, yeah "Yeehaw, all the lights are on Maw!, lets git going!"

  • Your editor should be shot(with a phaser ofcourse)

Not bad pieces, but badly put together.

    Keep at it though.

    :)

  • wow

  • Poor acting, even for an independent film.

  • It's not very realistic the way every light simply blinks on in a split second. Ever watched a sports field floodlight system firing up? The filaments(sp) take a few moments to warm up to full brightness, some lights might flicker a bit etc...

    Good model though.

Also your cameras are all static. You lose a lot of sense of dramatic scale if the cameras don't move at all.

  • Obviously in the future only LEDs are used for lighting. Arc lamp sports field lighting? How 20th century.

  • Let me fix those problems with the lights for you: 'The Future'.

  • The Music is James Horner from the film 'Battle Beyond the Stars' and had all of the Horner trademarks such that it could have been written for Trek...

  • Nice music. Sounds like a mix of sorts.

  • Very cool, though I'd like to see more acting.

  • PAN! PAN! PAN!

  • Battle Beyond the Stars Music?

  • YES! Hey, was it me, or did that ship from BBTS have tits like a Frank Frazetta chick?

  • yes lol

  • Not a bad job with the model, but this is essentially the same launch scene from ST:TMP, right down to the shot angles. Nicely done, but something more original would have been more impressive.

  • uhm remember this:

every picture should move. its boring and bad style to render them as stills. noone does that.

  • Another Q.... Where did you find your drydock ?

  • Never mind.. I got my answer... uhhgg... dummy me needs to read more..

  • Very nice work... One glitch thought... When you started out, you turned the Spacedock lights out. But on about 40 seconds into the film, you show the top of the saucer lights turning on, and the spacedock lights were still on... :D

  • I never noticed that before. Guess I'm going to have to remake this trailer, aren't I? LOL!

  • Oh yea.. i'm also makeing a Fan film.. And I love your work.... Which is why I had to meantion it.. :D

  • It would be great to see the adventures of the Lexington and her crew. The name Lexington has a proud history. Of course, the only time the Lexington was seen in TOS was when she was pounded on the episode "the Ultimate Computer". May she have great success under your direction.

  • The soundtrack sounds like the music from a movie from the late seventies/ very early eighties I believe called Battle Beyond The Stars. Starring Richard Thomas,Robert Vaughn, and George Peppard.

  • nice work, look forward to seeing more. :)

  • This is pretty "next level", when is there going to be more available footage?

  • Cool!!!...the soundtrack resembles James Horner´s "Star Trek II"

  • It's James Horner, "battle beyond the stars"

    1980 - Orion Picture Co. :)

    cheers

  • sorry, someone already mentioned that. repeat post ;)

  • god i remember that film from the 1980s, back then brilliant, now, its embarrasing lol

  • Actually, you are referring to the Star Trek Movies featuring the USS Enterprise.

This Trailor is for the USS Lexington. Different Ship.

And while you may find the Old Trek movies embarrassing. Others remember the road it took to get CGI where it is today. And the new Who is not perfect either. Some might even say new who is embarrassing.

  • I was refering to battle beyond the stars, hark at you so easy to take offense.

  • I was not nor am I now offended by your comments. I was merely commenting on Trekdom, from movies to TOS.

  • Awesome piece... I especially liked the 70's-style title shot... fit well with the style of the TMP-era stuff. One thing I'd suggest is to have the camera move, even just slightly, around the ship as it powers up and moves out. The shots are almost unnaturally static, as though the camera (and by extention, the viewer) really isn't *there* viewing the scene. Aside from that it's really quite interesting. I'm always fascinated by these fan-made pieces!!! Love the "Human Adventure" bit, too!

  • Love it...

Quick question, if you don't mind. What software are you using to do this?

  • Various. Mostly, it's Lightwave 9.2, After Effects 6.5, & Premiere Pro 1.0.

  • I'm wondering...I know you got that from the Battle Beyond The Stars Soundtrack, but where did you actually find the soundtrack??? I've been looking for it..

p.s.-> FANTASTIC!!! People like you should be the ones working on the new film!!. Great job!!

  • Trade secret! :) Go to our message board over at starshiplexington [dot] com and see the answer there!

  • Good work so far. One thing you should note if you haven't already is there is a continuity error: The dock lights shut off, but then are back on again during the top-of-the-saucer shot immediately afterward, then are off again in other shots. I know it's just a preview, but best to know issues now, if no one else has noticed yet.

  • That's what I get for a deliberate mistake! I've been meaning to update that without the glitch but have been busy filming. I'm sure one of these days I'll fix it. You're only the third person to catch that! Great job!

  • Nice use of "Battle Beyond the Stars" which was effectively Horner's blueprint for his TWOK theme. Excellent.

  • that was REALY REALY good.

  • great hull detail. all you've got to do now is make it move a bit more fluidly

  • it was cool and all, but what the hell is it?

  • WOW! nice Voice! Who is that?

  • I apologize, you didn't deserve that. I'm just so disappointed with the casting and acting in New Voyages. However, I applaud their set recreation and the money they've spent and the effort itself. I wish y'all the best, and desperately hope y'all do better in your acting and direction. Q'Plah!

  • Compared to New Voyages, I'm unimpressed. Which is saying very little, since I think their acting sucks. You fan people have to get past the hardware and the beauty shots and start writing characters.

  • Waitaminnit, isn't that the music from "Battle Beyond the Stars?" An inspired choice.

  • Damn, someone beat me using this Soundtrack for a fanfilm! Though, looks worthy!

  • Nice CGI work here

  • Man, Dennis Bailey's Enterprise mesh is a thing of beauty. It puts my stuff to shame. Excellent work on this preview!
