@RobertRayawordup i think when people use the word indie as a genre, it is referred to more of all the sub genres inside of indie music. genre-isation of music can be very pointless and annoying, but the world makes profiles of everything, so that we may better understand things. it's just the way the human mind works. it sucks, yet it's just nature.

@joemcsaleen "indie" is really a blanket term for any genre of music released by an independent, usually small company (there are hundreds, Bad Panda is one of them). This has become a name for any music that doesn't sound like the "mainstream," and major labels have whole indie sections, whish is good and bad and for another time. Yes, a lot of it sounds like kind of grungy pop, or something bluesy or folksy, but that isn't really vital- it's the attitude.Dumbo Gets Mad fits both definitions.

and maybe rock n roll IS dead. but NOT beacuse of this band, rather because new artists want to move away from previous styles of rock to pursue a degree of creative independence from predecessors. if artists replicated the same musical patterns of generations passed, how would our musical culture grow? it would stagnate entirely, people simply become tired of hearing the same old. and btw pop IS short for popular. there was a time when ROCKnROLL was once pop music too. think about it :) peace

@EmilTowersIV It's not entirely dead but it's decreasing in popularity, but im starting to look deaper into indie and found indie rock which is the new rock frontier so to speak and vampire weekend and the black keys is just to light for me. I'm a more heavier alt-rock person who likes some metal and punk.
