@no1zmaid1 Flash sounded like a really happy and lovely basset. Bassets are truly a blessing. Thanks for sharing your family's story. Being blind doesn't hinder Moe at all either. It's as if he could see. I hope you get to adopt another loving basset.
My husband and I adopted an 11 year old blind basset named Flash a few years ago. Unfortunately we only had him for a little over a 3 years before he passed. But that time was worth it, my kids loved him and we all feel blessed that we got to give him a great final year of his life. Being blind didn't hinder him at all, he knew his way around our house and when the kids forgot to close the bathroom door, he'd just bark until someone got him out.
@ spicychick1987 thanks! Moe means the world to me. I just can't understand anyone who would leave their dog because of a medical condition. A basset will love you no matter what, and he/she deserves all the love too no matter what. :-).
I noticed from my basset that he depends mostly with his nose & hearing than his eyes. maybe that why your look so happy? I am so happy to know that theres a good owner out there that was willing to take care a dog even without eyes. that is a rarity
Moe had cancer in the left eye and he had really bad glaucoma in the other. :) nothing can ever keep him down. After surgery he ran to me wagging his tail as if he just got up from a nap.
