What's up Kyle, man I used to always bitch about the mafs you wrote; camloc won't seat, camloc stripped, hahaha, they were good times though man. Where you getting a pass at this year?
I served with HMM-161 back in 80-82. It was a very proud squadron compared to HMM-364 in Hawaii. That squadron was re-activated in 84 and with the exception of the CO and XO, all officers and SNCO's were a much of kiss asses.
Was born in New York but lived on West coast. Served in CH-46 squadrons form 75 - 83 as a Marine.Back then 161 was the BEST. The Marine Corps oldest combat helo squadron.
I don't know if 161 was better than 166, but than again we didnt become a squadron till the mid 80's. I thought you were east coast bc your name has 261 in it, and I was drunk when I responded, that is never a good thing.
I was in there from 03-07. It is still the same, we trade away our best birds for the pieces of shit from 163 or 161 and than have to fix them up and take them with us on Pac. It is so true about the partying too, my last det was on Edwards Airforce base and they were scared of us. The MPs got called nightly and were too afraid to confront us. When I left we went back to the deer but I think they were trying to make a new patch. We also took the 6's of the modex.
Former Seaelk here ... 1999-2003. Glad to see you guys are still kicking ass and taking names. Very sad to see that they dropped the 6 from the front of our MODEX. No doubt that somebody felt we had to be more like the rest of the wing. HMM-166 is not like the rest of the wing, we never dropped a FRAG, and we always had to give our aircraft to the other units before they could deploy (some aircraft doing back to back WESTPACS).
Still the same, we trade away our best and get the pieces of shit from 163 or 161(165 is alright). That made everybody mad when they dropped the 6's, that was our trademark. I was a nugget when you were leaving, I got there about June of 03.
When I was in Corrosion Control we got two birds from 165, went to perform a 28 day (now a 56 day I think), pulled the floorboards it was a mess, clearly hadn't been cleaned out in at least 6 months. Found 5 or six areas of Exfo that required extensive repair, including 1 rib which Depot level had to come replace.
You probly remember me, everyone used to call me the Limey, I went to work for Boeing at the end of the Hangar for a few months until we worked ourselves out of a contract.
