I got a gold spot a bit smaller than that on a 50lb deep jig rod by fin nor, 50lb braid and diawa saltist. I was using burkley gulp jerkshads that I've seen you guys on reefari and Lee Whatshisface use, that's the editor of Fish and boat. I also got a smaller 20lb gold spot that day, not bad for a 14 year olds first jigging session! Great vids guys hope to go out fishing with u guys one day!!
Good one, the soft plastics are well worth a go, and deadly on the reef fish. I'd rather not catch the big cod, but that's fishing, we try and let them go, but most don't survive when you pull them up from 50metres. Keep up the jigging and also great for trevally and big coral trout.

Normally just use Squid, Pilchard & Fresh flesh, have a good video on best bait for reef fishing, worth a look!!

In Australia we call them Estuary Cod, or Goldspot cod on the Reef, Must be similar to your Grouper?

@Reefari It's similar to a Bahamian grouper called Nassau Grouper, it has the same wide stripes. Our groupers are similar but different color
