You are not hearing what the man is saying. He is clearly stating that a BA should not be the goal for every student or most student to strive for. Murray clearly states that too many kids are going to college for BA's that they cannot achieve, and that a BA is not an end-all be-all to life and a career choice.
People are different, and he states that more people should go to college, but not for BA's. And many BA's can become 1 1/2-3 year certifications. Listen, then think.
He is completely on the mark. My college has "open admissions" which means anyone can go. As a result half (or more)of my classmates had no business being in college. Many of them could not write or read. Because the school had no honors classes we were all stuck in the same classes. While it was nice to have class work done by midsemester I didn't learn much.
I spoke out against my college about doing this and I was banned for life.
I'd dispute Dr. Murray's contention that everyone needs "post-secondary education" if only because the acquisition of those learning skills required to gain the knowledge and abilities necessary for most Americans to enjoy lives of real value (social, economic, and personal) can and should be completed by the time they finish their adolescent years.

The Cuban embargo has lasted 50 years and is only done by the US (Europe regularly trades and has traded with cuba) the Haitian embargo was about a hundred years (after gaining independence) and was done by just about everyone including the US, France etc. that aside, Haiti was occupied and colonized significantly more than Cuba.

College is a BUSINESS and when you put a price tag on something that is a necessity for human survival in the modern world among other things we suffer. Capitalism cares not for the people but for the top 2% that rule everything. I had to drop out of college two quarters ago because of the large amount of debt that I was amassing and the realization that I could learn everything on my own. I also realized that I would have to give up my dreams of becoming a director if i stayed in debt school

The only thing you learn in school is how to obey orders.
The problem is, school is a jobs creation scheme. No politician is going to critique it like this, because that would be tantamount to saying, "vote for me and I'll reduce the number of jobs!" This is one of those things where change has to happen because people decide to do things differently. I am finishing up a masters in engineering, moving on to a PhD.
Why so angry? Its not like I just blew the lid on a huge secret. I can see on my campus with my own two eyes. There are smart black people. I've met them in engineering. Most though are just idiots that major in mass comm, education, or business crap. I don't know if its natural IQ or because hip-hop is an intellectual vacuum, but it is very apparent.

Whichever way you look at my friend, Black people should really stop talking about Egypt and try and find something else to feel proud of. I'm sure there is something.

How many of those degrees were in the hard subjects(not poetry and english)? How many blacks choose the easy professors at Harvard(not the upper level physics teachers)? Also we give blacks affirmitive action. What about the massive grants that we give to dead beat poor people?

Affirmitive action does not count. These are 1st and 2nd generation blacks. You should not be getting Affirmitive action especially if you have no genetic contact to past United States discrimination.
I'm not sure if I agree with this. Education raises the intellectual capacity of the nation and arguably the level of ideas and ingenuity that they bring onto the marketplace in ways that are dificult to quantify. I do agree that the system of BAs may be rigid, but saying that the solution is less people taking them seems arbitrary to me.
I don't think that is what he is arguing. It might be useful to have a less narrow view of education. You can obtain an education without it being in pursuit of the paper called a BA, which indicates little about what you actually know in many cases. Murray believes that each individual student should be allowed to shape his education around his/her intellectual abilities. No BA does not mean no education and no rise in intellectual capacity.
1 factor that I total agree is that certain subjects matters are far more difficult and demand a great deal of mastery and hard work. For instance, a bachelors in physical chemistry not only requires a great deal of mathematics(partial differential equations & beyond), physics, labratory skills, but a good understanding of organic, inorganic, biochemistry, & analytical chemistry.This is the norm for all physical sciences. Then again this is the reason why there is a decline in such degrees.
Here's an idea. Only people with an I Q above 125 should receive any tax deduction for having children. Any couple with an aggregate I Q lower than 100 should receive a tax incentive to get a vasectomy and a tubal ligation. Finally, any couple with an aggregate I Q over 150 should receive a 5% across the board tax cut for every child they have.
It is a fundamental principle of fairness that dictates that the role of government must be to be equal and fair in the defense of our individual rights. That means the rights of the stupid are equal to those of the smart. We are all to be treated equally by the law, even if there are gross disparities in private society.
Government may not take from one class in order to give to another, especially not to the smarter.
Reading good books and using a labtop with internet access is all you need to get the best education in the world! Universities just kill your energy and passion by overloading you with busywork and wasting your time on frivolous bullshit.

He is completely on the mark. My college has "open admissions" which means anyone can go. As a result half (or more)of my classmates had no business being in college. Many of them could not write or read. Because the school had no honors classes we were all stuck in the same classes. While it was nice to have class work done by midsemester I didn't learn much.
I spoke out against my college about doing this and I was banned for life.

It came from the famous Eyferth study where the IQ difference between blacks and whites was virtually non-existent, that aside, the black children were almost all illegitimate children of US soldiers from WWII.
IQ is "genetic" in the same way being a plumber is genetic and why it increases 3 points every decade whereas evolution takes hundreds of thousands of years. The ability to learn is genetic but how far it goes is the product of the environment.

That we have had our intelligence rapidly grow within the past generations much faster than in our distant past. They have similar histories, same territory, perfectly divided. Yet there is one thing that sets them apart, Haiti is almost entirely Negro, while the D.R. is mostly Mulatto. Haiti is the poorest country in all the Americas, while the D.R. fairs much better. Haiti receives so much aid from us, yet they still cannot improve.

College is a BUSINESS and when you put a price tag on something that is a necessity for human survival in the modern world among other things we suffer. Capitalism cares not for the people but for the top 2% that rule everything. I had to drop out of college two quarters ago because of the large amount of debt that I was amassing and the realization that I could learn everything on my own. I also realized that I would have to give up my dreams of becoming a director if i stayed in debt school

half of children are below average? lets test with some simple math!
10 kids take a 10 point quiz. their scores:
10 + 7 + 9 + 8.5 + 9 + 2 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 7 = 76.5
what is the average? 76.5/10= 7.65
3 of 10 are below the average- NOT half. Often times it is the case that the "average" score is much lower than the majority actually receive. this is because one or two kids bomb. though it is a petty detail to pick on, his statement on "average" is misleading

Charles Murray is not offering jobs to the poor. Charles Murray is telling the poor that they are genetically inferior and should not try to aim for anything better.

The only thing you learn in school is how to obey orders.
The problem is, school is a jobs creation scheme. No politician is going to critique it like this, because that would be tantamount to saying, "vote for me and I'll reduce the number of jobs!" This is one of those things where change has to happen because people decide to do things differently. That might be hard, in this case, because people are being threatened with poverty if they don't jump through all the hoops set up for them.

Life is too short and school takes too long. You start school at 5, graduate high school at 18, graduate college at 23, graduate masters at 25, by the time you start working your 25-26. The time your 40 your middle age, your supposed to buy a home start a family with your wife repeating the same steps. 25 years you retire, 65 you can leave the work for if you haven't been forced to retire at 50. Your dead by 70, nice life.
Graduate school earlier and work earlier.

I dont have any paper but it frustrates me how high the emphasis is on it for superficial reasons. I like Charles Murray think that Standard tests like that in accounting are a better way of giving accreditation than just a BA. I feel that a BA doesn't tell an employer anything substantial about a person other than they can be a uni student for a few years.

I am finishing up a masters in engineering, moving on to a PhD.
Why so angry? Its not like I just blew the lid on a huge secret. I can see on my campus with my own two eyes. There are smart black people. I've met them in engineering. Most though are just idiots that major in mass comm, education, or business crap. I don't know if its natural IQ or because hip-hop is an intellectual vacuum, but it is very apparent.

I'm not sure if I agree with this. Education raises the intellectual capacity of the nation and arguably the level of ideas and ingenuity that they bring onto the marketplace in ways that are dificult to quantify. I do agree that the system of BAs may be rigid, but saying that the solution is less people taking them seems arbitrary to me.

I don't think that is what he is arguing. It might be useful to have a less narrow view of education. You can obtain an education without it being in pursuit of the paper called a BA, which indicates little about what you actually know in many cases. Murray believes that each individual student should be allowed to shape his education around his/her intellectual abilities. No BA does not mean no education and no rise in intellectual capacity.

1 factor that I total agree is that certain subjects matters are far more difficult and demand a great deal of mastery and hard work. For instance, a bachelors in physical chemistry not only requires a great deal of mathematics(partial differential equations & beyond), physics, labratory skills, but a good understanding of organic, inorganic, biochemistry, & analytical chemistry.This is the norm for all physical sciences. Then again this is the reason why there is a decline in such degrees.

Any couple with an aggregate I Q lower than 100 should receive a tax incentive to get a vasectomy and a tubal ligation.
