  • @somebutthead Chances are he might have been inspired by those guys.

  • I think this guy should have been called "Robo Brocken". Not just because of the obvious fact that he's a robot, but because there was a character named Brocken who was from an old 80s anime cartoon. He vaguely resembled this guy, only his skin was all pale and he was not a robot. He was a choujin wrestler.

  • Brocken was most likely named after Brockenman or Brocken Jr. from the Kinnikuman series.

But for his look and character, he's mostly inspired by Rudol von Stroheim from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, because they are both known for having bionic bodies.

For Brocken's Terminator look in some parts, that was added, due to both characters being cyborgs with even red eyes seen behind their shades. ADK incorrectly thought Arnold Schwarzenegger was German, like others that Brocken was influenced by.

  • @1983parrothead The Terminator part sure makes sense, because Geegus, another World Heroes character, is also modeled after a Terminator character, T-1000.

Nazis were a hot topic to Japanese video game developers, as well as manga and anime companies.

  • 0:30 Psycho Crusher!

  • Man I love how weird & fraky he is

  • Brocken is similar a SS officer!

  • well I use to play this game and I like J. Carn and Muscle Power..I recently got world heroes perfect for kawaks. its still fun Im learning how to use Ryofu.

  • Brocken was my favorite too. I used to be really good with him. Wow this version is very different from the arcade I played. I've never seen that picture of him Saluting. I thought he was a lot like Bison too.

  • @destroyahdes While this and Street Fighter II were released shortly after Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the film because quite popular even in Japan back then, and had Nazi references that influenced many of Japan's game designers in creating things modeled after them. Smash Daisaku from Gunstar Heroes; however, was most likely modeled after the Dark Ogre general from The Cliffhanger: Edward Randy, because Gunstar Heroes character designer HAN was a fan of The Cliffhanger: Edward Randy.

  • All of you guys were wrong:

The mose relevant base of Brocken is Stloheim from JOJO bizarre adventure episode 2.

  • Nah, that's Guile...

Brocken Jr makes the most sene, he even has the same name as him.

  • haha no, those are the voice people for the video -- Neo Bomberman of NG fame sent me this "player's guide" WH video back in 2001 or so.

  • What is all that talking in the background? Were you watching anime or something?

  • Not just Brocken JR., but also Brockenman (who is Brocken JR.'s father).

  • Inspector Gadget's got NOTHIN' on Brocken. :)

  • Did you know that Brocken was based on the Kinnikuman/Ultimate Muscle character Brocken Jr. (who was originally named after a German mountainpeak)?
