  • I am a member of the Cornish Association of NSW and have learnt the Cornish language on and off for about 20 years (am now 29)... When I was in Cornwall a few years ago, I had the privilege of visiting Cadgwith (South Cornwall) and singing with the Cadgwith singers... When they sang this song they all turned to me and sang it to me....

  • @yarekhunt They wreckon the last native speaker who only spoke Cornish as her first and only language, Dolly Pentreath, died in 1777, but knowledge of the language in some form survived and the language is nearly fully revived now. A good resource to learn:

    But yea Cornwall is one of the Celtic peoples pushed further west and annexed by the English, along with Wales.

  • @TheMarrification she was the last first language speaker...the last monoglot died in mid 1600s....but still second language speakers near zennor until mid to late 1800s
