Discrimination occurs to people of all ethnic backgrounds. In some ways minorities hold more power than whites do in the US because no one is willing to challenge it in fear of being called racist.

The fact is most of the government and most of big business (which of course has influence on the government) are controlled by white men.

Discrimination occurs to people of all ethnic backgrounds. In some ways minorities hold more power than whites do in the US because no one is willing to challenge it in fear of being called racist.

I get what you're saying, but I think it's a bit disingenuous to imply that minorities hold the majority of power in the US just because accusations of racism can and do get out of hand. The fact is most of the government and most of big business (which of course has influence on the government) are controlled by white men.
This is of course not to say that white men are "evil" or anything ridiculous like that. Just saying that they do hold most of the power in the end.

You're absolutely right as far as applying yourself but the social-stigmas were totally different at the peak of discrimination in the 1960s and even in some parts of the US today (in the deep south in America).
It would be helpful to learn more about America's social history...here in America, you can work hard all you want but you will get no where if those in power and in charge task themselves with keeping you down...especially if you're a minority...
