I've yet to hear a Stones song that sucks.....just saying. Keep the hate to yourselves. I loved Brian as much as anyone else, but he had issues....and was a liability to the band near the end. I hate that.
I like this version... reading Keith's book, I'm not surprised that they didn't retire any the stuff they did with Brian. He was a sick puppy according to Keith, and they did kick him out of the band before he went, they had to play something. Yeah, they ending is a little/a LOT cheesey...bad string sounds, super crappy metal-ish guitar. I bet that was Mick's idea, the "modern" guitar at the end. Now it just sounds like bad 80's metal
Satanic Majesties is THE most under rateD album in the history of Rock and Roll !!!!! I saw them do this in Raliegh NC in 1989 and it was one of the absolute greatest performances I've ever seen in 42 years of going to see music - this version is good but the one in 89 was much more amazing .from start to finish .
@TheReverb1 Not too sure what exactly it is, but you are 100% right that this performance is weak. I always loved this song & thought it would be amazing live, but also a bit hard to reproduce in a live setting properly.
Loooooove this one. So cool when they came on stage with this in Toronto.

Couldn't make it through this entire version. There is an obvious reason that they haven't played this song live in tours after this one, it sucks.

This song should have died with Brian Jones. Nowhere near as good without him..can't beat the original why even attempt this

This was Brian Jones's song! It should have been retired when he retired. This version stinks.

Lacks the depth, mistery and rawness of the original version. I guess the magic was gone with the farewell of the 60's........

...not so good, lack of the vibe and power of the original due to an electric piano and digital effects instead of the mellotron and theremin.
And the pounding guitar part, that s forgotten in this.

lousy version! mick's choreography makes it even worse.
their satanic majesties request seems like the rolling stones' happiest accident…

In the interlude, I could swear the Mellotron licks had this "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" feel to them...
