@moomman89 Using PD8 at home right now for editing, but Corel Video Studio 12 when I want to make a 1920x1080 WMV which PD8 cannot do. OTOH PD8 has more effects, more transitions. Vegas probably has its high points too, just don't know what they are meself. :-)
Maybe if you take off the glasses you can see what your doing..Just playing!...hey man do you know if PD 8 is only good for bluray? I have a HD camcorder but not bluray..
@DramaDon83 Not sure what you mean by only good for Bluray. I have a couple Canon cameras that write files onto SD cards. I copy those files to my computer and edit in Power Director. I figure if you can copy files from your HD cam to your computer, then you can edit in PD8. I've also used PD8 to create DVDs with menus. Don't know if it could be used to create Bluray or not.
No, you don't need a webcam. If you could do a video capture with a screen recorder, that could be even more helpful. See my video #189 for what I mean by a screen recorder.
cause i see a lot of tutorials like (Promotion tutorials ) but no custome made video's when im edditing a video i dont wanna use preloaded templates ore a wizzard that makes a vakantion video for me ( btw diddent try it yet) and is there realy no reverse in pd7 ???? arggg im so confused the rendering is perfect but its so hard to custom edit video's in pd7
maybe im totaly rong and the editing is great but can someone explane how to :P
Try to keep it to one correctly spelled, grammatically correct, coherent, concrete question about how to perform a particular task, and I'll see what I can do.
If you can point out a particular video you're trying immitate a special effect, I can try to guess how they did it.
Power Director is all I've used in depth. No need to tell or ask me about other programs
the problem i have in pd7 is i cant get a good view of my timeline so when im editing video's i dont get a good view of what im doing, beside of that i also have problems with avi files sometimes it seems to be that pd7 dont accept them
thirt thing i cant find good tutorials the most stuff i found whas not a real tutorial but more a promotion video maybe you know some links were i can find some good tutorials abouth editing timelines
At this moment I am drunk, so I can afford to be more honest.
First, if you want a tutorial for a general topic, Google or YouTube search.
Second, avi files? Not coherent enough to make a question that I can answer.
Timelines. If the mouse cursor is over the part of the timeline with numbers on it, it looks like a little clock. Left click, hold down, drag to the right to see finer granulations of time. Drag to the left to see a longer, more general timespan. HTH.
You seem knowledgeable with Power Director 7. Just a question if I may.
When using the "Magic Motion" feature on still images, the pictures seem to be jumpy instead of a fluid smooth motion. Is there anyway, to your knowledge, to remedy that?
I'm speak with Cyberlink and they tend not to respond to my plea.
it works perfect for me beside of the slow rendering i tryed to use Cyberlink PowerDirector 7 and have some problems mybay u guyzz can help me out?? cause Pd7 rendering saves me lot of time ( Cuda) and i wood like to use it
the problems i have in pd7
first of all a lot of fraps video's dont works in pd7 (some of them do so i think it strange :P) when im editing i wanto custom my own time line like 3vi and 2audi maybe you know some good tutorials
Power Director 6 was less broken in terms of PiP object motion editing, but allows for only one PiP object. Power Director 7 lets you add up to six PiP objects, and is the only one being sold right now.
You mean timewise reverse? As in playing videos backwards in time? That's actually something I looked for in PD7 for one particular scene and could not find.
I might just end up buying individual programs for individual effects. o_O
Yup, Cyberlink issued a patch about a month ago that fixed the PiP problem I saw. If you'bve updated your PD7 since then, you wouldn't see the problem.
What I do know is that in PD7, in the motion tab of the PiP editor, when you move the timeline slider, you can see the PiP object move along its path, but the background video does not move. Therefore you cannot make a PiP object follow another in the background video. In PD6, the background video does move, so you can modify the PiP motion path to match the background video movement.
Anyway, When I try to burn my MiniDVD Videos and made a menu, and then burn it. It stuck at 24% while burning. If you still have the PowerDirector 7 can test it? It was very Important when this happen. T___T

Is Pinnacle better? For Burning MiniDVD?
Pinnacle Studio is second after PowerDirector 7. in toptenreview(dot)com
Yep, I just messaged you. Cyberlink fixed the problem I described here in a patch release a couple weeks ago.
Haven't ever tried miniDVDs myself. You could try non-mini normal DVDs in PD to see if the problem is limited to miniDVDs, or you could try burning a miniDVD, even if it's just data, in another program to see if the problem is limited to PD.
is it a good buy? cuz i got about 2 hours of video and i am going to make a video for the tube, and the shitty program i have now always crashes. does this have music/ audio editing? (cropping)
It's okay. Not perfect, and Cyberlink did break the PiP motion editor in PD7, but overall it's okay. It does crash sometimes, but reducing the undo steps from the default 50 to 10 can help. So can saving often.
Audio cropping? Yes, it can do that. Nothing fancy though. It also lets you change the volume of an audio track over time. Problem is, can't change the height of the tracks, so fine tuning volume over time can be difficult.
yea it crahsed 5 FUCKING TIMES on me and deleted 3 FUCKIN HOURS OF WORK!!! i also spent all my hard earned money on it to so i am way beyond pissed off at it
Best advice I can give is to save often and to reduce the number of "undo" steps it'll remember from the default 50 to something much smaller like 10. Seems to stabilize it. It's the long editing sessions, and remembering all the possible edits to undo, that seem to make it unstable.
you must save your work! i have the same problem whit the crahsing ! but i have never lose 3 hours of work! but I lear that i nead to save my work!:D dont try to tell other what to do or anyething just an edvice:) sorry my bad english!
I hate when features with old versions are dropped on new versions of software.I use iMovie HD '06 on my mac. It is more powerful than iMovie '08 (which I tried and was completely annoyed by), but it is still limited and does not have things like PIP. I am thinking about moving up to Final Cut Express, but I understand it is hard to learn how to use...
Don't know anything about windows editing software, but I can empathize with the frustration you feel. Good luck.
PD6 let you have one PiP track at a time. PD7 jacks that limit up to six PiP tracks. Maybe some bright spark thought it would be good idea to drop the playback functionality of that motion tab. I've worked some combo of tech support and network engineering for the past ten years, so I've seen logic more twisted than that.
On the other hand, I think I have the experience and technical knowledge to embarass them if their initial reply isn't satisfactory. >;-D

Making videos that clearly demonstrate the problems with a video editor is indeed the most effective way to get the attention of the creator.
