Not everyone wants to learn English, a foreign language, or any of the other regional languages. But Sanskrit isn't set to one particular place. That is why there is a movement in India to spread all over the country. Currently there are over two million people worldwide that can speak it. And it is growing very fast.

I am a doctor in USA and i can read and write samskritam but cannot converse well. This language opens the doors to hindu scriptures, epics, other ancient teachings, including many Buddhist teachings. Canonical works of Buddhists by Nagarjuna etc were in sanskrit. Japan alone has more than 50 universities teaching sanskrit. Do u think that is useless?
