Not sure, but I've read somewhere that they can't stick to teflon. I've also noticed with my own crested gecko that he slips if he tries to walk on the moist plastic wall of his enclosure.

well geckos typically jump and glide from tree to tree. Can you imagine the difficulties involved with getting accurate high res motion capture of them whilst gliding, having to anticipate direction etc... so the answer is: put them in a wind tunnel where you can study them easily

The point of scientific research is not always to find out something completely new. A lot of the time, people are researching on the basis of assumptions (aka. hypotheses) in order to prove or disprove this assumption. This ISN'T useless, because they often learn new things they didn't expect during the research, and sometimes, they'll even find out that the generally accepted assumption is completely wrong.
