ok I guess I should ask the question in a different way. I am just not sure what multiples are. So if it calls for multiples of 6, I do I know what the plus should be, especially if it doesn't say?
@heavenlylight43 Just keep on counting the chains 1-6 over and over until the chain is the width you want. then, if it says plus one or two add one or two more chains. If it doesn't say a plus number, then do not add any chains.
@heavenlylight43 usually a pattern will say multiples of X plus X, so for example multiples of 7 +3, in that case, you'd make 7 stitches, 7 more, 7more, 7 more until you've got the item as long as you want it...then you would add 3 more chains at the very end. Sometimes you might even see it as multiples of 7 + 3 + 2 for turning, so it would be the same as above repeating the 7 chains then adding 3 more chains at the end and then you'd add 2 more chains, turn and begin row 1.
I love this color combination and the stitch. I am learning how to do different stitiches. Could you help me, anyone, on how many chains to make for a shell stitch afghan? Thank you Diana D
@heavenlylight43 Do a You Tube search. Also do a Google search. I think it's best to get my viewers to learn how to find these things for themselves. Besides, if I did a search for everyone looking for a pattern (or the number of stitches to start a blanket) I would not have time to answer other questions, or make videos! Please ask any other questions, regarding technique or my videos.
@heavenlylight43 as far as the number of chains to do to make a shell afghan just do the multiple until you think it will be long enough and then add however many the instructor says to add. I learn alot from Teresa Richardson who is tjw1963 on here. If it does say then you don't add any. if you look for the pattern you want yes you can google it but there are alot of good tutorials and videos on youtube.

@maisygirl07 If you know the basics, you should be able to do this. watch Teresa's how-to video a couple of times before trying it. I think you could do it! The link is in the description.
How'd using hdc and 2 chains on the ends work out? I want to do this and think I'll probably do the same. I have lots and lots of yarn I can use up! Thanks for showing your project, I love it!
Thank you for making your video. The designs really show up on the dark background. I'm going to do a sample of the Boucan (using your tip for straight edges) and put it on the back burner for another time. It's a beautiful stitch! ^_^
I love it i am doing the same pattern but very slowly cos i do it when i am on the train to go in to the city since my other project gotten to big for the train.
Great pattern but I really LOVE the colors you chose for yours!! High contrast with bright colors are stunning! Easy pattern. I follow twj a lot too.

I did the same changes. It helped keep the color underneath from sticking out on the ends and the flaring.
I also love how thick this is, it can be used for rugs and pot holders as well as blankets.
