John Barnes was different class for the team Kenny re-built 87 onwards - I was on the Kop for this one, I think we won 4-0. He was just so far better than anyone else in the country, just a shame he was usually average for England....that said, he was marked out of games at international level.

That comment is so true. I am a big Liverpool fan, but the racist treatment of black player at Anfield and Goodison was an absolute disgrace. I remember well, the horrific abuse dished out to Cyrille Regis, Laurie Cunnigham, Johh Barnes {yes, the very same player} and other fantastic black players of that generation. And when the abuse of Barnes happened when the Everton 'supporters' where throwing bananas at him, showed Liverpool up for what it really was...a racist city.

Barne is a wonderful player. Non only one of the best in England history but also in the world. He had many qualities (technique,strenght and fantasy). Superb player. I wanted see him played in Italy. But this is not happened for delight of fans of Liverpol that will love Barnes for ever. Bye.
