Too bad Tamiya didn't have a A3 suspension with the narrower vertical voultee spring suspensinion unlike your model of the "Easy Eight" with it"s wider and lower ground pressure horizontal voulte spring suspension. The .50 ammunition box for the machine gun on the top of the turret is 'open' in the movie, like you can 'see' the slugs through it. And the tank is so much dirty on the side, in the movie. But... those insignificants details apart, This is excellent and awesome work here, thanks you from my heart, from one of the best fan of this great movie :)

Barrel is correct. The Shermans used for Kelly's Heroes were Israeli modified to use the longer 105 mm gun from a British Centurion tank.

They were actually M4-A3 shermans sent to Yugoslavia as Lend Lease equipment under an agreement at the end of WW@ that lasted until 1948 They and jeeps and half tracks were pristine and had never been used until this movie. Several M-10 tank destroyers have recently come back to the USA from there for restoration

The tanks in the movie were M4A3E4s from the Korean War. THese were retrofits to put a 76.2mm M1 gun in the turret that once housed the 75mm M3. During WWII this was seen as impractical and a new turret was adopted, but in Korea there was a rush to get tanks in theater so Japanese occupation vehicles were retrofitted as such and shipped over.

Oddball's Sherman wasn't a firefly type was it? I know this model is one, but I often wondered, since it'd be near impossible for a regular sherman to take on a Tiger and survive.

well it could if its luck was as good as it was in the movie, the only way to kill a tiger with a Sherman is up the ass and they kept getting the tigers with their ass's to them. The tigers wouldn't have a chance if it played out like it did.

thats also why shermans were always in 4s as 3 could be used as decoys while the 4th could go for the kill, unfortunatly this type of manover did result in a lot of soldiers losing their lives also a sherman firefly is one of the last tanks you wanted to be in during a firefight as it was a top threat to the tigers so they always shot that one first

the gun was good in it and the tank was designed for it but unfortunatly it gives to much recoil, and theres recollections of tigers just having to be destroyed on their first mission because they used the same engine that was in the panzer 4 and it was only designed to move about 40 ton and the tiger weighed in at almost 60

im a huge fan of kelleys heros and ww2 and battlefield 2 where my call sign is oddball and im pretty sure u have the loud speaker on the wrong side of the tank.Not that it makes any difference but u have everthing else potrade briliantly,thought u would see if im wrong..great work its a credit to u..I myself have 2 ww2 tigers 1.16 scale remote control getting another as in the movie.Kelleys heros is my all time favourite movie and always will be..good on ya mate , yes im a aussie...

Wow, that is Oddball's Sherman! You got the 76mm, the .30 cal, the 90mm pipe, a little rust and mud here and there, the loud speaker, tracks on the turret sides, the supplies on the back and those helmets on the front, and Oddball! I'm impressed! You win a cookie.
