Looks like a good place for a SFPD pedestrian sting. They were very successful earlier on Geary and 6th (or in that area) and ended up giving out over 200 tickets in a single morning. The drivers didn't even yield for a police officer in full uniform!
good report, the whole geary blvd that has not traffic lights have this. yesterday a car almost hit a pedestrian because he was not going to yield yet the driver flipped the guy off.
a yo, san francisco! stop being cheap and install traffic lights with those pedestrian clickers!! aint no body goin stop for no pedestrian going ~35mph. Also, tip for pedestrians: don't forcefully cross a crosswalk thinking drivers will actually stop for you... like the guy in the video using the hand... some drivers aren't even paying attention on the road. Its not worth your life to cross the street. Double check before you cross at night, i find it really difficult to see pedestrians at night
Thanks for your videos, I actually wasn't aware of this law until I saw your videos. I've taken the DMV test several times to renew my permit and licenses and for some reason never got this tidbit of information. Now I constantly look out for pedestrians and stop for them.
It does say pedestrians outside a crosswalk shall yield, but does it mean standing on a sidewalk, about to use a crosswalk (therfore outside of it) or those who are crossing where no crosswalk exists?
Maybe they should install a flashing yellow yield to pedestrian light, AKA a big blinking reminder to follow the law. I've seen these work, though I was initially skeptical that there would be any change in behavior.
ok so lets put up a traffic light ,duhhhhh

Thanks for this. Check out similar video from Brickell Bay drive in Miami posted by rDogg877. We pedestrians need to unite.

I always grab a few rocks when I want to cross at a cross walk. You purposely don't stop for me you get a broken rear/side window.

This happens to me all the time in Novato. There is a crosswalk but, no stop sign so I have to wait about 5 mins each time I want to cross.
